- Grey: Runaway Bangboo? But Brock's been here the whole time, teaching us how to build little flying machines. He hasn't gone anywhere. Although he and Shelby can't seem to make anything that actually works.
- Shelby: I...
- Norma: Whoa, looks like Brock is completely unsuited for teaching. Come on. Back to the lab with me. We've got a chip to finish!
- Brock: Wuh-ne-eun-neh, ehn-nhe-wuh-nah, ehn-ne-enn-nehn? (But I can't remember the data, and I don't understand the lab rules... Does that mean I'm just clumsy and useless everywhere I go?)
- Norma: *sigh* ...Brock, actually, you...

- Shelby: ...I–It's not that Brock's a bad teacher... I just can't build the model from the instructions, no matter how hard I try.
- Shelby: I knew it... I can't do anything right...!

- (ProtagonistProtagonist): Hey, don't talk about yourself like that! Can I take a look at the model and (thethe) instructions?
- Under Brock and Shelby's hopeful gaze, you take the manual.
- Just as you're about to examine the crooked little flying machine, the genius beside you springs up and snatches the manual out of your hands.
- Norma: I don't get it. Why do you have to follow the instructions to build it?
- Shelby: Huh? B–Because... that's the only way the machine will actually work.
- Norma: No way! If everyone just followed a few sheets of paper step by step, Roscaelifer and all the fun Bangboo wouldn't exist!
- Norma pulls out a portable toolkit and starts tinkering with the model, focused, like she's mending the wings of a fledgling that hasn't yet touched the sky.
- Then, to the kids' amazement, the little flyer wobbles into the air like a circling bird before rising high into the clear blue sky.
- Shelby: Whoa...!
- Norma: See? Easy.
- Grey: But... there's nothing like this in the instructions.
- Norma: That's why this is my special version! If I felt like it, I could tweak it into a firework launcher. Boom! It can explode into sparks when it flies as high as it can!
- Norma: A genius doesn't copy instructions. We break them. Right, class?
- Shelby: But... Miss Norma, I'm not a genius. I can't even get the basics right...
- Norma: Of course I know You're [sic] not a genius! But you're my student!

Story Description: Through the Bangboo Brock's unusual behavior, Norma manages to pry out information that the escaped Bangboo are each carrying out their own tasks while preparing for a gathering. Once they finish their tasks, they'll leave a mark on the mailbox on Beckford Street.
- Shelby: Miss Norma, Brock looks kind of nervous... D–Don't scare him.
- Grey: Shelby, you look even more nervous.
- Shelby: It's because Brock's a good Bangboo! He plays with us, helps us get balls unstuck from trees...
- Shelby: ...And when he goes to buy liquid-electric bread, he always brings back really good maple syrup-flavored bread for us. I... I don't want you to get mad at him...
- Norma: Oh? Liquid-electric bread, huh? Brock, you're a dry-cell guy, so why do you keep buying that stuff?
- Norma: Wait... Oh! I get it! There's only one explanation! The liquid-electric bread is tied to your big mission, isn't it?

- Brock: Ehn-na, wuh-na wuh-na. (Nope, everyone just said a Bangboo would post the meetup time on the mailbox.)
- Which Bangboo notified you?

- Brock: Nhe-Wuh... Nha-wuh, wuh na! (I... I don't know, nobody told me.)
- Norma: What a half-baked plan. Sounds just like when I tried applying to Veli for extra funding last month using a Bangboo invention from my dream.

- Norma: Of course not... Veli is so stingy!

- Norma: Self-reflection? I completely approve of this kind of spur-of-the-moment thinking! If everything has to be perfectly planned before doing it, nothing would ever get done!
- Norma: Alright, time to go leave our mark, my assistant! Sure, drawing on a mailbox sounds like vandalism, but hey — nothin' ventured, nothin' gained.

- Norma: But their recorded data still needs to be analyzed and gathered by my honorary assistant. With you here, they can rotate out faster!

- Norma: This is proof I've started seeing you in a whole new light! Keep up the good work, my assistant!

- Norma: You're not! Veli said you're a really important friend and made sure to tell me to keep you company. I can't allow a shift change!

- Norma: Don't turn me down! I've still got tons of crazy ideas I haven't told you about yet! After I finish the chip project, we'll come up with them together!
