A Short Encounter with a Rare Bird is a World Quest that occurs in Sumeru.
Requirements
Start the quest by defeating one of the three Shroomboars on the hill to the east of Caravan Ribat's Teleport Waypoint and speaking to the Forest Ranger that appears after doing so.

Gameplay Notes
- Completion of the quest and of the World Quest Where Are the Fierce Creatures? awards the Wonders of the World achievement Sumeru Monster Ecology Survey.
- Both getting too close to the marked area and rainy weather during Step 2, Step, 5 and Step 7 will scare the Dusk Birds away and it will take approximately 12 hours to respawn. It is highly recommended to capture the Dusk Bird from a distance using a Bow character or Omni-Ubiquity Net and change the Varuna Contraption to the "Sunny" state.
- Approaching the Dusk Birds using Wildlife Talents such as Kirara's Cat's Creeping Carriage and Aloy's Easy Does It will work, however it won't work when it is raining.it will scare the Dusk Birds away.
