Summary
The Traveler and Little One set out to gain the Golden Entreaties, a set of talismans needed to access the Ruins of the Sage of the Stolen Flame. The Sage was an ancient figure who lived for many eras and made a significant pledge with a dragon named Xbalanque. The Traveler engages with the Children of Echoes, which includes a battle with chief Pacal, to obtain the necessary tokens. Once the Talisman of Waxaklahun Ubah Kan is acquired from the chief, a path to the inner ruins is opened.
The Traveler and Little One enter the ancient ruins and navigate a series of puzzles and environmental hazards (such as lava) that require cooperation and the unique ability to switch perspectives between the Traveler and Little One. The puzzles within the ruins often utilize colored crystals (orange for the Traveler, green for Little One) to activate mechanisms and progress.
Through exploring the murals and environment, the Traveler learns about the ancient history of humans and Saurians, the Sage's life, and the original pledge that was made. The journey is a test of endurance for the Traveler and Little One, who grows significantly, both physically and emotionally. By enduring the tests and overcoming all dangers within the ruins, the Traveler and Little One successfully obtain one of the two Golden Entreaties.
