Profile
Personality
The Peacemaker of the Tlalocan, the ender of all disputes.
—In-game character attributes and profile page text
Chasca hails from the Flower-Feather Clan. She is afflicted with a rare disease that caused her biological parents to abandon her in the wilds, though she survived and ended up being adopted by a group of Qucusaurs. Eventually, upon returning to human society, she was adopted by Chuychu's parents. As a Peacemaker, Chasca's duties involve resolving disputes when all other options fail, and these duties often involve beating both groups senseless until the situation is pacified.[8][9]
Chasca is generally friendly and composed, but can be serious when the situation calls for it. She cares deeply for Chuychu, being devastated by her death despite their quarrels.
Appearance
Chasca uses the tall female model. Her hair is burgundy and decorated with a small braid, reaching her mid-back while her purple-gradient bangs cover her left eye. She has sky-blue eyes, long maroon eyelashes with purple eye pigment, and elf-like ears.
History
Past
Chasca's biological parents were unknown — they had abandoned her as an infant, leaving her to fend for herself in Natlan's wilds when Abyssal corrosion was rampant. She was eventually discovered by a Qucusaur named Chimpu, who took her into her nest. Although Chimpu had no experience in raising a human, she still took care of her to the best of her abilities alongside her own daughter, Coya. As she continued to grow, the lingering corrosion in her often compelled her to attack others. Eventually, they were discovered by Elder Allpa of the Flower-Feather Clan, who began plans to return Chasca to human society, giving Cusco parental custody of her.[10]
Initially, Cusco was overwhelmed by Chasca's feral behavior, comparing her to a vulture as she simply started fights for no reason. A shaman soon discovered her affliction and warned Cusco, but he ultimately chose to keep her in his family rather than leaving her to fend for herself in the wilds.[11] After learning her first word, "vulture", Chasca's mood became better, but some children, having heard and spread ill rumors of her and her family, began mocking her for it, causing another beatdown before Chuychu arrived. She initially blamed her for her woes, causing her to run off, but feeling uneased, soon questioned the children and learned the truth.[12] Chuychu soon found Chasca and nursed her back to health, lighting a bonfire to alert the adults to their location.[13]
As Chasca continued to grow, she was soon torn between living with her qucusaur or human family, as both had gave her fond memories and irreplaceable knowledge. Chasca began spending more and more time with her human family, causing Coya to slowly begin resenting humans, while Chimpu was much more understanding and accepted her decision. She became acquainted with Xilonen, who she approached to talk about a gun that she had thought in her mind. Xilonen asked her about her routine and soon came up with the desired product while making her learn the maintenance firsthand, which Chasca would use to patrol the skies and perform her Peacemaker duties.[14]
Present
The Traveler first encounters Chasca as one of the members who had prevailed in the Night Warden Wars, and she led a group consisting of herself, Iansan, Kaiulani, Kibangu and Kachina into the Night Kingdom.[15] The expedition was a success, but Kachina failed to return despite their victory. Chasca accompanied the Traveler and Mualani to the Scions of the Canopy to collect the Spiritspeaker Stone; during the journey, they heard an explosion from the stadium, and while Paimon wanwjted to turn back, Chasca reassured her that Mavuika was strong enough to handle any situation.[16] They reached the tribe and spoke to Wayna, who sent them to Vichama; he agreed to help under the condition he find what happened to his friend, Mallko. Vichama was able to find Kachina's name but not Mallko's, prompting him to continue searching and nearly endanger everyone, forcing Chasca to destroy the stone. Chuychu, who learned of Chasca's plan to enter the Night Kingdom, had arrived shortly after the explosion and began arguing with Chasca over her recklessness, but she eventually conceded and allowed her to go.[17] Once all preparations were made, Chasca accompanied the Traveler, Mualani and Iansan to the Night Kingdom, where they discovered and rescued Kachina. But before they could escape, the Abyss managed to trap them, but only briefly as Mavuika sacrificed her keepsakes to break into the Night Kingdom and rescue them.[18]
While attempting to investigate Capitano's plan, Chasca and Chuychu ran into a Fatui garrison. They managed to sneak past the patrols and discovered they were looking for the Source Mechanism, escaping when the Fatui had discovered them.[19] Upon discovering his true plan, Mavuika led a group to attack the Fatui, although Capitano's plan failed and instead awakened the Yohualtecuhtin, Lord of the Night. The plan also led to the discovery of the the fifth Ancient Name hero in Ororon; sensing this, the Abyss decided to launch a full-scale invasion with heavy focus on the Flower-Feather Clan. Chasca and Chuychu had been fighting their way to the Stadium when they were overwhelmed by abyssal creatures who had managed to infect the latter. Spotting them while running across the nation, the Traveler tried to purify Chuychu of her contamination to no avail. Before she died, Chuychu told Chasca that she was proud of her growth. Letting out an anguished scream as abyssal energy flew out of her, she managed to rein it back in as Menilek's spirit appeared, revealing her as the final hero. They brought Chuychu's body back to the stadium, where everyone present gave their condolences. Once Mavuika channeled their powers to herself, Chasca thanked the Traveler for being with her when Chuychu died, admitting that if it wasn't for them she would have likely lost control and promised to become the person that Chuychu believed she could be.[20] The Natlanese then began pushing the abyssal invaders back, and several warriors took note of her ferocity.[21]
After the invasion, Chasca went out to search for missing Natlanese and eliminating any abyssal stragglers that might have been missed in the initial cleanup. She found a group of monsters and tracked them further than expected before returning to the tribe, where she learned what the Traveler had done for some survivors, thanking them for their efforts. Chuychu's death continued to hit her hard, as Cusco noted that she became more reckless than usual without her to keep her in check.[22] She later attended a celebratory feast at the People of the Springs, where she went "fishing" when Mavuika and the Traveler approached her. Mavuika apologized for her loss once again and revealed she had visited her parents to give her condolences. Chasca appreciated the visit and wanted to pull her parents out of their loneliness and despair, but Mavuika advised her that her adoptive mother was worried for her safety, which Paimon agreed on. Seeing this, Chasca thanked them and planned to visit her parents once the feast was over.[23]
When the Traveler met a tribeswoman named Coyllur, Chasca, who had been observing her, told them to let her be, as she had just failed her rider test and explained how it worked to them. Wanting to lift her spirits up, the Traveler indwelled a nearby qucusaur and approached her, but was caught off-guard when Coyllur wanted to ride them. Seeing this, Chasca let out a whistle to distract her and allowing the Traveler to escape. When the Traveler returned to her, she told them what happened, while noting that the qucusaur's inexplicable presence felt nearly familiar to that of the Traveler's. Allpa later arrived and told Chasca to tell the applicants that they were being offered a retest as the arena hadn't been properly prepared.[24]
As Chasca informed the applicants of the retake, the Traveler fixed the arena, allowing her to test it. The test was successful, only for her to learn of a qucusaur attack on some visiting merchants. Investigating the scene, Chasca found a bloodstained feather which felt oddly familiar.[25] The merchants gave the applicants the Phlogiston Wings, and while they were testing them, Chasca was informed of another qucusaur attack. As she confronted the qucusaur, she realized that it was none other than her estranged adoptive sister, Coya, who let out a shriek before flying off. Wondering what had agitated her, Chasca brought the Traveler to her first mother, Chimpu, who agreed to lead them to Coya's nest, which was located at the outskirts of Ochkanatlan. They witnessed the merchants attack Coya and saved her, learning that someone named Tepal had ordered them to extract qucusaur glands. With Xilonen's assistance, they learned of Tepal's workshop and accessed it by manipulating the phlogiston at the testing grounds, discovering many captive qucusaurs and the true mastermind, Allpa. The trio defeated Allpa, and when the relic she was holding was damaged by Coya, she tried to fly off to sacrifice herself, but Chasca and Coya denied her this to prevent her from becoming a martyr for what she had done. The act left Coya exhausted, prompting Chasca to take her to Ifa and Cusco, who told her that she simply had old injuries resurfacing. Chasca also learned from Coya that she had forgiven her when she had started her own family.[26]
Before disembarking to the depths of the Night Kingdom, Chasca and Coya manifested into a safe area, where the Traveler spoke to them. They were there to convey their luck and blessings to them, and Chasca explained that she and Coya had cleared up their misunderstandings and fully understood her decision to leave.[27] The Traveler and Mavuika returned victorious, with their accomplishment being celebrated by all the Natlanese. They later told her that they saw Chuychu in the Night Kingdom and her contributions to their victory. Although there was an option to see her through her dreams, Chasca decided not to, believing that Chuychu would not want to nag her anymore but appreciated the news.[28]
Upon learning of the Bloomflower Trials, Mavuika decided to reinstate the tradition with a different setting. Chasca participated in the trials, where she and her team were defeated by the Traveler, Kinich and Mualani in the first half.[29] The Traveler soon discovered a developing situation from Milray and his ghostly friend Antu, where the trial's origins were revealed to the group. Learning of the enmity the first trial had, Chasca remarked that not even a peacemaker like her would be able to resolve the dispute. In the next half, the Traveler joined her team and with Ororon and Citlali's help, they repelled an attack from the other faction. The Natlanese later helped Antu resolve his regrets, seeing him off. Chasca was pleased that the event was over, as it would give her a few days off as people were unlikely to get into disputes for a few days after major events.[30]
A large number of Secret Source automatons began acting up and attacking everyone in the area, prompting Chasca to go out and deal with the troublesome machines before they could hurt anyone. The Traveler offered to assist, which Chasca appreciated, although she felt that they didn't need to involve themselves in such trivial matters. The subsequent patrol resulted in the discovery of an unconscious woman surrounded by two automatons; believing she was in danger, they eliminated the machines, only to discover that the woman herself was also an automaton and was carrying a cryptex. Chasca wanted to force it open, but Ifa dissuaded her from doing so, believing that there was a self-destruct mechanism inside, and they opted to bring her to Xilonen for further analysis. Discovering that Ineffa was accompanied by several people from Nod-Krai who were deciding to leave due to instability, she offered Zhuoxin and his family accommodations at her tribe, which he agreed to. When it was revealed that Zhuoxin had worked for the Fatui and had betrayed them, she decided to let them stay with them, which he agreed to.[31]
During a patrol, Chasca learned from some of her fellow tribespeople that someone from Natlan was selling Wayob fragments at Nasha Town's annual trade expo. Worried that there were sinister motives on hand, Chasca brought Citlali with her to the expo. There, she reminded Citlali that they were outside tribal grounds and had to respect the expo rules, which prevented them from starting altercations with the vendors. After examining the fragments and with the Traveler's intervention, Citlali decided to leave Nkrumah alone but warned him that he would be answering to Biram once the event was over.
Sometime afterwards, Chasca went to Fontaine to partake in a wargame when she flew too close to some training grounds of the Maison Gardiennage, causing them to mistake her as a target and send two volleys of bullets towards her direction. She avoided the shots before Chevreuse stopped the Gardes from continuing their fire and apologized to her. Learning what they were doing, Chasca agreed to help, rationalizing that the tactics used by the Gardes would help her tribe as they often had difficulty gauging the accuracy of their shots while flying in the air at rapid speeds. With the Traveler's assistance, the wargame was a success and both Chasca and Chevreuse agreed to have joint collaborations, where Chasca would send some of her tribe to learn Fontaine's tactics while Chevreuse would send some of her Special Patrol to Natlan to learn how to shoot targets midair. Chasca decided on sending both Zhunan and Inkanak.[32]
