Fanngel is a quest-exclusive NPC who appears in the World Quest The Power of Research.
Profile
Fanngel is a researcher with the Fontaine Research Institute. He describes himself as being "cursed" because a lot of bad things keep happening to him. He calls this the "Fanngel Effect."[1]
He tried his whole life to break the curse until he got saved by the Fontaine Research Institute and learned how to fight it. He invented a cooling system for foods as when he was mixing salad it somehow caught fire. This invention eventually got used in Fonta vending machines.[1]
He came to Nod-Krai to study the safety of kuuvahki under extreme weather conditions, as he believes that it could be a much safer energy source than Arkhium. During The Power of Research he is trying to install a Airspace Data Collector in the air above Barrowmoss Barrens to conduct experiments in order to write his thesis. After collecting enough data with the Airspace Data Collector 2.0, he says that he will remain in Nod-Krai, sort his research and then return to the institute to start his thesis.
Appearance
Fanngel is a pale man with a medium build. He has short dark brown hair and blue eyes. He wears the standard male outfit of the Fontaine Research Institute.

Etymology
- Fanngel's story may be inspired by Finagle's law of dynamic negatives, which is usually rendered as "Anything that can go wrong, will—at the worst possible moment." Finagle's law is also known as Finagle's corollary to Murphy's law, the popular adage or epigram that is typically stated as: "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong."
