Dialogue
- Harshin: I've gotten all the evidence I need... Academic world, prepare to be blown away!
Are you writing a thesis?
- Harshin: Huh? You're interested in research, too, young'un?
- Harshin: In that case, I'll lay out the basic outline. I don't suppose you've read my acclaimed work, "Criticism on Pseudo Remuria History - Starting from the Nonexistence of Remus" by any chance?
- Harshin: My current thesis follows similar threads. I want to prove to the academic establishment that this world is a flat surface floating through the void, and that its edge is right here, in Nod-Krai!
- Harshin: Working from that basis, I further hypothesize that what we know as Snezhnaya is a complete and utter fiction. It does not, nor has it ever, existed—
What do you mean, "Snezhnaya is a fiction"?
- Harshin: Simple, since Nod-Krai is at the edge of the world, then no country could possibly exist beyond it.
- Harshin: Think about it — a nation of ice and snow in the north? A land where the fae roam free? It sounds a lot like Remuria, don't you think? Just the fanciful ramblings of bards and storytellers.
- Harshin: Not a single record in the House of Daena that describes Snezhnaya either comes from Snezhnaya or was written by a Snezhnayan. What does that tell you?
- Harshin: It's obvious, isn't it — there is no Snezhnaya! It doesn't exist. It's a creation of vagrants and fugitives from Nod-Krai.
But Snezhnayans are everywhere...
- Harshin: *sigh* You're still not getting it — these "Snezhnayans" are just people from Nod-Krai.
- Harshin: They don't have any history of their own, so they've invented this grand, advanced civilization called Snezhnaya to cover up their barren past.
- Harshin: Forget it. You'll understand once you read my thesis.
But the Fatui are everywhere...
- Harshin: Then let me ask you this — have you seen Snezhnaya for yourself? Or have you only heard about it from people hiding behind masks?
- Harshin: These so-called "Fatui" are just wandering mercenaries, no different from the Eremites. They're being paid by some unknown power to spread the lie of Snezhnaya's existence!
- Harshin: *sigh* Forget it. You'll understand once you read my thesis.
I think I've heard enough.
- Harshin: Hmph, be on your way then. You'll understand once you read my thesis.
Trivia
Etymology
- Harshin (Somali: Xarshin) is a town and the capital of the Harshin woreda, in the Somali Region of Ethiopia, near the border with Somaliland.
- Harshin's name and character are likely based on the Chinese conspiracy theorist Hé Xīn (Chinese: 何新), author of the 2013 book Research on Pseudo-history of Greece. In general, his theories regarding the fabrication of history are likely based on the fringe Western Pseudohistory Theory.
