Ix Je'lal K'ua'l Ka' Ch'ule-L, also known as the Jade Maiden, was the Second of the Thirteen Sovereign Lords.[2] She was one of the artificial intelligence rulers created by Xiuhcoatl.[3]
Story
After the invasion of Teyvat by the Heavenly Principles and the defeat of the Seven Sovereigns, with Xiuhcoatl imprisoned within lava she, alongside her fellow Sovereign Lords and Kukulkan, attempted to replicate the miracle of moon forging and reach the worlds beyond Teyvat. However, upon Nibelung's return, Xiuhcoatl awoke from his feigned death and stopped the Thirteen Lords and Kukulkan from continuing their attempt.[4]
After Kukulkan's scheme to gift the power of phlogiston to humans was uncovered, Je'lal proposed a joint impeachment of him by the Thirteen Lords from his office of Regent.[2] Though the motion successfully passed, the session was ultimately dissolved when Xiuhcoatl personally appeared within the Chamber of Deliberation. According to Awanyu, the Thirteen Lords never genuinely believed that Kukulkan's scheme had hurt their race, and merely saw it as an opportunity to seize his authority due to an obsession with power.[5]
At some point, Ix Ajkotz'i'j Iq'ismal Waxak, the Eighth Lord, asked for her assistance in forging a bow for the former's human daughter Lianca. Je'lal was initially outraged at the suggestion, but nonetheless complied with her request. The bow she created was the Chain Breaker.[6]
Later on, Lianca used her bow to fight and defeat Aj Tininik Oyowal Waak, the Sixth Lord. His fate was later reported to the other Lords by the Secret Source Servants. During a council session in the Chamber of Deliberation, Je'lal denounced him for having been felled by a human. She similarly castigated Aj Imuch' Paxlaq Lahun, the Tenth Lord, who had been tricked by Ahpub and Ixquieh's imitation of her jade token, and consequently sealed by them. Je'lal commented that they had fallen due to "their own weakness and incompetence," and declared them unworthy of remaining as sovereign rulers.[7]
During the Thirteen Lords' vote for the execution of the Eighth Lord due to her perceived betrayal of dragonkind by raising Lianca, Je'lal was one of the Sovereign Lords that voted in favor of the proposal. While she did not believe Ajkotz'i'j was a traitor, she believed that even the tiniest possibility of betrayal could not be tolerated, a line of reasoning that the Eighth Lord respected.[8]
Je'lal was presumably among the ten Lords who fell during Xbalanque's siege of the Sacred City of Tollan.[5]
