The city is located in the southern part of St. Fountain. With a wonderful climate and sea breezes all year-round, this is the dream holiday getaway destination.

If you happen to be a wildlife lover, then you must stop by Simons Street. You will find a view of the distant Boulders Beach, where our cute neighbors—the African penguins—occupy the entire beach!

However, the most renowned animal of False Bay is none other than the black whale, which comes here routinely to mate, and every year——

(The scratch marks make some paragraphs difficult to read.)

——the decorative whale hunting harpoons are on display in False Bay City. In the middle of the 19th century, the St. Fountain whale hunting business was extremely prosperous. But after whale hunting was officially banned, the whale hunting harpoons became a relic of the past and were left in the city for guests to take photos of as souvenirs.

St. Fountain Park

Welcome to the St. Fountain Amusement Park. This is the most popular amusement park in all of St. Fountain, and a melting pot of regional specialties! Not only can you enjoy the traditional fashion and outlook of Old Moor Town, but you can also experience the everyday life of the residents. The greenery that covers the modern architecture pleases the sense of harmony between nature and humankind.

Here, you can grab a taste of the rich Mastang Kingdom coffee as well as indulge in one of the fully handmade Shenzhou ice creams. The trees provide shade for the variety of shops beneath, and the air is filled with the sweet aroma of fine wine. If you enjoy music, the array of styles and genres of music available here is sure to impress your ears. Whether it be hip-hop, rap, or rock'n'roll, you can hear it here.

If you're a fearless adventurer, then the super cool "St. Fountain Dragon" roller coaster is highly recommended! However, if you're already here at St. Fountain, make sure you don't miss out on the largest Ferris wheel in the world—the "Golden Eye."

///Friendly reminder from the St. Fountain City Government: Numerous incidents have taken place at the launch bases in St. Fountain. All guests should stay alert and mind their safety. Golden Eye Instructions
Not only is this the most welcomed entertainment attraction in all of St. Fountain, it is also the most exquisite Ferris wheel in the entire world. If what you're looking for is a spectacular view of the beautiful city or a place for romance with a special someone, then there's no better choice than the "Golden Eye".

"Golden Eye" is open from 10 AM to 5 PM. Guests who wish to ride the "Golden Eye" need to purchase tickets at the designated ticketing booth beforehand.

In 1965, the Mastangs built this amusement park around a waterfall to celebrate the rebirth of the "Golden Fountain". The water mill left by the English was refitted into a Ferris wheel for the entertainment of the residents. After a series of renewals and modifications, the once ragged watermill has now become the largest Ferris wheel in the entire world, standing at 165 meters tall with 22 observation capsules as one of the most notable landmarks of St. Fountain.

///Friendly reminder from the St. Fountain City Government: Due to the popularity of the "Golden Eye", all guests should follow the instructions given by the staff, line up in an orderly fashion, keep a safe distance from others, and plan their time accordingly.///

///Warning from the St. Fountain Health Commission: Guests with acrophobia or claustrophobia should ride at their discretion!///

St. Fountain Dragon Instructions
Are you looking for the excitement of being up and about? Do you want to set out on a miraculous voyage between the city and the mountains? If so, the "Fountain Dragon" will be able to fulfill all your anticipations!

"Fountain Dragon" is open from 10 AM to 5 PM. Guests who wish to ride it will need to purchase tickets at the designated ticketing booth beforehand.

St. Fountain is blessed with countless magnificent views thanks to the surrounding mountains. This, however, was also an impediment to transport. In the era without steam and electricity, the only reliable method of transportation outside of horses was your own two feet. The Mastangs built a long plank road along the side of the mountain ridges for the sole purpose of being able to travel across the mountains. Today, the planes and railroads overshadow the towering mountains and demean the plank roads. To commemorate the pioneers who opened this passage with very little at their disposal, the local government followed the plank roads and built what is known today as the "Fountain Dragon."

///Warning from the St. Fountain Health Commission: Guests with high blood pressure, vascular diseases, or other similar conditions are prohibited from riding the "Fountain Dragon"!///

St. Fountain is a green city, boasting an astounding 70% vegetation cover, where you can appreciate fresh air, pruned greenery, and wild animals. The wild animals are already accustomed to human presence, so you can enjoy your trip without a single worry. However, do keep a distance from them so you don't disturb them.

///St. Fountain Animal Preservation Association asks that visitors respect the animals' willingness to be photographed and refrain from feeding them.///
///St. Fountain Plant Preservation Association asks that visitors refrain from picking or fertilizing the plants.///

If you find yourself tired after all the fun, feel free to take a rest in nearby hostels or on roadside benches. But remember, do not damage public facilities, and take your trash with you for the sake of others.

Feel free to visit the Guest Center with any further questions you may have.

My dear friend, I hope for you to create a wonderful memory here at St. Fountain.

Storybook

A storybook named "Story" has a very crude cover finish and doesn't even have a publisher. The name is unfamiliar, maybe it's just a gift that came with a kid's toy.
The first half of the book is filled with wrinkles, looks like someone may have been quite violent as they turned to this page. There is a line of messy words that looks to be written by a child trying to imitate the contents of the book at the end of the story.

"Mom said to never open the door for strangers."
"A fierce and evil wolf has arrived on the grassy plains."
The sly wolf will take away the lambs that misbehave."

"Mom said to never open the door for strangers."
"Mom is missing and dad went to find her. He still hasn't returned."
"I've been good and stayed at home. Dad promised to bring back presents for me."

"Mom said to never open the door for strangers."
"But it's dad."
[sic][sic]Though he returned without a present or with mom."
"But... it's dad."

"Mom said to never open the door for strangers."
"But she never said I can't open the door for dad either."
"She also never said that there would be wolves in a sheep's clothing in this world."

Don't open the door for strangers... (slovenly)

Escape from Death

A piece of wrinkly paper filled with messy handwriting. The writing must be important information written down in a panic by someone in a hurry.

I should've stayed home, that way I can at least be with my son to welcome the apocalypse. The red sky... the red light... I may have to live the rest of my life in this color.

The neighbors are moving away one by one, I should leave St. Fountain as well. Dammit, why didn't I make the same decision as them.

I should've known when the red crystals began to grow in the city but I didn't pay too much mind to it. Unsurprisingly, my wife suddenly disappeared one morning.

I leave my house to search for my wife in the red city, and that's when it appeared.

It found me... It has four arms and no head. I'm not even sure if it can see me, but it's making its way towards me.

I can't stop the trembling in my legs. It's already taking all my strength to maintain a standing posture. It moves closer to me, resting its red blades on my neck. The back of my shirt is already drenched by my sweat. I want to scream, but no sound came from my trembling lips.

"Go... Go..."

It's the one that's making the sound. I think I hear Mary calling for me, but it's hostile, that I am sure of. My legs have gone soft and no longer in my control as I drag myself in the direction that it's pointing towards.

A door... A red door... A door that's made of crystals. The red vortex swirls within the frames of the door as if it's connected to another world.

I'm not sure what lies behind that door, but my instincts tell me that it has to be a horrific abyss of some kind.

A snake figure monster with an ox head pushed someone into the door, that's a gaze and scream I'll never be able to forget.

...

They're actually arguing? And the reason for their argument is... It seems to be over a pair of glasses.

This must be a signal from God, I just so happen to have a birthday present for my son in my pocket—it's the same glasses that his favorite game designer Mr. Welt yangyang from E.T. Studio wears.

I open the delicate glasses case and hold up the glasses towards the four-arm monster with no head. I'm not sure if it can see clearly or if it will even understand what I mean but I've got to try.

Whew, thank the lord, I've been saved. Thank you, son, thank you, Mr. Yang, thank you video games.

I can finally take a breath now. I think I should still record everything that's happened, I'm not even sure if I'm dreaming. How many more times can I escape death? Monsters... the city is filled with more and more monsters... different kinds of monsters... All I can do now is hide in the storage of the supermarket, I want to go home so bad...

Fountain of Carnival

Wonderful days are always worth commemorating.

In 1965, the Mastangs forced the colonizers to recognize St. Fountain's independence. To commemorate this grand feat, the Mastangs named the day of independence the "Day of Carnival." On this day, countless bottles of fine wines are opened and the sound of sizzling barbecues, primal drums, and people singing become entwined as the enormous bonfire lights up the night sky. The primal festive resembles the Mastangs' yearning for freedom.

Everyone is yelling to their heart's content: "Praise St. Fountain! Praise St. Fountain!"

In the century of colonial history, countless wars and revolutions, as well as rich and ample cultures have been brought to this land. After the last remaining colonizer had been exiled, the Mastangs quickly rebuilt a civilization of their own. The most spectacular one is the Mausoleum of Sa'ad that lies beneath the dirt and sand—the remains of the Emperor that the Mastangs carefully guarded for centuries has finally returned to his palace. They preserved the ancient castles and tall buildings that have witnessed the days of glory as well as the era of downfall, they've also allowed the people of other cultures to become residents here. At one point, the signature structures of the different nations naturally converged within St. Fountain. With the extensive inclusiveness of St. Fountain, many travelers from Shenzhou have also chosen to stay here, evolving into the blossoming culture melting-pot we have today.

The need to be unrestrained runs deep in the veins of the St. Fountain people. The giant Ferris wheel, the roller coaster that runs up into the sky, the classic and simplistic churches, and the magnanimous clock tower are all artistic structures they built from the imaginations in their hearts. The unbound nature of the St. Fountain people allowed the plants and animals to roam and grow within the city, creating a true one-of-a-kind environment. Their eagerness to do business along with their highly favorable harbor has allowed St. Fountain in becoming Africa's most prosperous and developed focal point for business.

During the Great Eruption, St. Fountain suffered great losses. Countless buildings were destroyed but luckily the mausoleum on the top of Table Mountain stood strong, just as its master did hundreds of years ago against the invaders. The people of St. Fountain who hid in the mausoleum were lucky and their lives were spared. As they walk out of the palace and witness the battered land, they suddenly understood that Emperor Mastang who has been deceased for over a hundred years is still here to protect the people of this land. With the financial assistance of Schicksal and the planning of the Golden Merchant Corps, St. Fountain was quickly rebuilt after the catastrophe with its classic structures even more marvelous than before. The flow of travelers and merchants continued to grow and this city that's suffered unimaginable disasters are finally able to welcome the "Golden Age" of its own.

Today, in the 21st century, after sixty years of accumulation and consolidation, St. Fountain has become one of the most luxurious modern cities. However, the locals have retained their precious value towards freedom, and the tradition of the "Day of Carnival" is continued till this day and has even cultivated in other even richer celebrations. Multicolored lights brighten the entire city as the spectacular fireworks continue to decorate the sky. The people today no longer face colonization and suppression, the festival has become a getaway for those tired from work who hope to escape from the pressure and shout to their heart's content.

Countless travelers visit St. Fountain each year, many of which visit with the interest of experiencing the grand celebration known as the "Day of Carnival." The warm and hospitable people of St. Fountain decided to rename the False Bay—the founding place of the "Day of Carnival," to the "Fountain of Carnival" to be a special area used exclusively to receive the guests of St. Fountain. Countless visitors have enjoyed and are still enjoying the passion and excitement of "Fountain of Carnival."

Sa'ad 1

As the first king of the "Golden Fountain", Sa'ad left many legendary stories behind.

Sa'ad was not born a civilian as rumored. On the contrary, as the illegitimate son of the long declining house Parma, Sa'ad was sent to live in the church since he was young. He lived a carefree childhood in the small St. Fountain church. With his strong physique, he was enlisted as a recruit and received systematic military training in Lord Helen's Manir Legion very early in his career.

As one of the Wise, Lord Helen, who was born with a military background, had great expectations of Sa'ad. He was strong, skilled in combat, calm and intelligent. The "Golden Fountain" had long passed the era when one could earn prestige with just a few thugs and soldiers. The other eight Wises each had possession of wealth, knowledge, faith, ports, art, craftsmen, sacrifices, and agriculture. They competed against each other using their influence and power. The election system had long been in vain, and the parliament had become a tool for them to divide up their interests.

After years of open and underhanded conflicts, Lord Helen had become physically and mentally exhausted. Although his military prowess had given him great authority, he knew that these were slowly disappearing. The military knowledge he had provided had enabled the other major families to train their own troops. The Silver Tide Tribe who had control of the ports had long colluded with the cunning Golden Merchant Corps. There was intelligence to prove that they had been smuggling secret resources from abroad. The Loken Tribe, which had control of the food prices, exploited a large amount of gold from him every year. In the long run, it was only a matter of time before the Manir Legion is drowned out by the plots and schemes of the other Wises. Lord Helen knew this very well, so he needed a young helper to change this situation.

Lord Helen's only son, Samworth was perfect in every regard. Whether it's his swordsmanship, charisma, or wisdom, Samworth was as radiant as the sun, which is why in the legion he was called "Samworth the Radiant Knight." In order to win the favor of the powerful Bishop Iman, Samworth took the initiative to join the decadent Church Augustine. In return, he gained the support of the church in Parliament and the medal of Knight of the Church. However, Samworth didn't inform his father of this decision. He not only had to go through harsh training in the clock tower in False Bay all year round, but he also swore an oath of celibacy.

Samworth's decision shattered all of Lord Helen's hopes for him. He was promoted in the church and had support from three of the four bishops. Even the Pope had high expectations of him. He was a likely candidate to become the next of Augustine Knight ①. However, it was clear that Samworth could no longer be his father's right-hand man. At this time, the young Sa'ad came into Lord Helen's vision. The officer was not only a skilled swordsman but also had distinguished knowledge of politics and art. Lord Helen made use of the excellent young man right away. At the time, he had most likely not realized that one day in the future, the name "King Sa'ad of St. Fountain" will ring through the whole of "Golden Fountain."

Note: ① Knight of Augustine, in the Church Augustine, the Knight of Augustine was the highest position among church knights, and his status was only below the Pope.

Sa'ad 2

Sa'ad, who served as Lord Helen's lieutenant, was brilliant in the parliament. The impeccable taste for the arts he had inherited from his family earned him friendship with the leader of the Arleta Tribe, who was proficient in the art. He skillfully provoked and exaggerated the contradiction between the craftsmen and the sacrifice. The experience of growing up with commoners made him aware of their difficulties. His slogan of lowering taxes and rent spread throughout the land, which caused a lot of trouble for the Loken tribe in charge of agriculture.

At the same time, Sa'ad secretly reached a deal with the Golden Merchant Corps. The merchant group promised to unconditionally support Sa'ad in every choice he makes and provide him with all necessary material and financial help in exchange for the business group's right to continue to exist after the final takeover and the access to all the ports.

Sa'ad did not openly show any ambition at this time, but the Golden Merchant Corps had already seen that parliament was destined to be overthrown and they were ready to place all the bets on Sa'ad. As the old saying goes, "A shrewd businessman can always find gold in the sand." In hindsight, this was indeed the most successful deal made by the Golden Merchant Corps.

In fact, Sa'ad was not loyal to Lord Helen. He knew that the General and other Wises were birds of a feather. Although Lord Helen verbally regarded him as his own son, if one day the outstanding Samworth really takes the position of Augustine Knight, he could go in and out of the church at will, and the constraint of training in the clock tower all year round would become invalid. Then it would be perfectly justified that Lord Helen's real son comes back to take charge of his father's army.

In the following few years, the articulate Sa'ad paid many visits to the various forces. His actions gave some of the families a sense of crisis. The Arleta Tribe in charge of the arts, the Loken Tribe in charge of agriculture, and the Verdant Spire who were obsessed with knowledge agreed to a secret meeting organized by the Golden Merchant's Corps to discuss the strategy to deal with this brilliant rising star. However, all of this was actually under Sa'ad's watchful gaze.

Sa'ad 3

The secret meeting of the Three Houses had long been betrayed to Sa'ad by the Golden Merchant Corps. All it took Sa'ad was two letters to get Lord Helen and the Pope to arrive at the tense cabin at the same time. Together with the Pope was Samworth, who had just been granted the title of Knight of Augustine.

When the Three Houses realized that the people from the Golden Merchant Corps didn't show up, it was already too late. The secret meeting had turned into a secret massacre. Under the command of "Samworth the Radiant Knight," the soldiers of Helen's legion and the Knight of Augustine captured everyone there and beheaded them in the cabin. This incident was called the "Capital Sanction" by later generations. The House Parma, a branch of the Arleta Tribe, was not spared either.

Sa'ad did not know that he had indirectly caused his father's death. Then he took advantage of Lord Helen's absence to quickly carry out his plan. With the authority he established in recent years and the advanced weapons provided by the Golden Merchant Corps, Sa'ad's troops quickly took over the entire Manir Legion. Whoever resisted was swiftly executed. At the same time, the remnants of Three Houses who had lost their leaders were also taken over by the Golden Merchant Corps with lies and threats.

When Lord Helen returned to his territory, drunk from the reunion with his son, Sa'ad had a great surprise prepared for him. Until the moment his head fell, Helen still didn't know who'd secretly seized his legion.

Overnight, the false "Eternal Peace" of this city was uncovered. The black sapphire parliament finally broke up completely. The Golden Merchant Corps in charge of the four houses became Sa'ad's greatest ally. Some Manir soldiers who were still loyal to Lord Helen left to join the Augustine's Cross Legion which was formed by the remnants of the four families under Samworth's command.

This sparked a war over this land that lasted for a long time. The decadent Wises were deposed. However, the cruel war made the people's lives miserable. In hundreds of battles, Sa'ad and Samworth had both come out on top on different occasions. The land fell into a long period of disarray.

If Samworth hadn't made that pivotal decision, the war could've lasted for a few more decades. One night, just like how he left without telling his father all those years ago, Samworth went out of the city gate that he'd been guarding without telling the Cross Legion soldiers. Some descendants of Cross Legion soldiers still regard this behavior as a betrayal. When the morning came, "Samworth the Radiant Knight" appeared in shackles at the city gate with Sa'ad's army. The soldiers couldn't believe their eyes. Other than Samworth, they also had the impenetrable fortification plan of the city. By this time, the soldiers of the Augustine Cross Legion knew that they had no chance of winning the war anymore.

"We need victory, but the 'Golden Fountain' needs peace. I've promised your commander that as long as you surrender, the Manir Legion will not hurt any of you or discriminate against any of you." Standing on the ground, Sa'ad looked up and said to the Cross Legion soldiers on the gate. The once proud Cross Legion commander lowered his head and remained silent. His holy armor was covered in dust, and his golden hair was ruffled over his face.

In the end, Sa'ad kept his promise. He captured the last battlefield peacefully and the remaining rebels were routed. Apart from Samworth, he did not hurt anyone who surrendered, nor was anyone treated unfairly. The Golden Merchant Corps actively engaged in foreign trade, which brought a lot of wealth to the "Golden Fountain," which made up for the losses caused by the wars of St. Fountain over the years. But at the same time, it created hidden dangers. Sa'ad, who ascended to the throne with the help of the merchants, was in the end destroyed by the merchants. However, "Golden Fountain" finally enjoyed a short period of peace and prosperity. And Sa'ad became the first and last king of the "Golden Fountain."

Betrayal and Glory

"General, Samworth is requesting to see you."
"...Where is he?"
"At the city gate, alone."
"I'm going out for a moment, you don't need to follow me."
"General, please be careful..."

The young soldier reminded the commander-in-chief, who was younger than himself, but Sa'ad had already donned his black armor and walked out the door into the pitch-black night.

"...General Sa'ad, you came out of the city by yourself. You have a lot of faith in me."
"I feel that the 'Radiant Knight' need not bother with such trivial antics. And because you came to the Manir Legion on your own, how dare I question your sincerity?"
"If it hadn't been for this war, we could have become really close friends."
"Haha, we each have a blood vendetta for killing the other's father."
"None of us wishes to do something like this, but we had no other option. You should be well-aware that the Council of the Wise was rotten to the core, and that someone had to start a revolution."
"...Indeed, Samworth, I admire you. Your talents and virtues far surpass those of your father, and if you hadn't left the Church, you could have created the perfect Manir Legion."
"But, despite the fact that war cannot solve all problems, we continue to use it to do so. The Church has grabbed the people's faith, and in a corrupt and desperate society, faith is a desperate person's final refuge."
"That is why you joined the churchchurch."
"True, despite their vow to inhibit me, I ultimately persuaded the Pope that once the deed is done, I will declare Church Augustine to be the exclusive faith. If I am successful in becoming Knight of Augustine, it will not be difficult for me to take over the Manir Legion."
"Then you can deploy your forces according to God's will and reform the council."
"Yes, but unfortunately..."
"Unfortunately, I showed up... but it can't be helped, those few tribal elders have long conspired surreptitiously, secretly buying a lot of weapons from the Golden Merchant Corps. Helen must take action since the Manir Legion's lack of allies is becoming increasingly dangerous. You should also understand that if the war had not begun, the Church's elderly bastards would not have let you get what you wanted."
"You did help me attain ultimate authority in some ways, but you have also become my most difficult adversary. But it's all useless now, since plans can't keep up with change..."
"What about right now? I don't imagine that 'Samworth the Radiant Knight' came all the way to me in the middle of the night simply to chat."
"This war has lasted much too long, Sa'ad. We want victory, but the 'Golden Fountain' needs peace."
"There can only be one victor, Samworth. You are fully aware that, even if it is in our best interests to make peace, it would be an awful betrayal, both for those soldiers who are still alive and those who have died."
"That's right, and it's the reason I'm here. I am willing to offer a plan for the defenses and the head of... Samworth, as long as you promise not to harm the soldiers in the city."
"I will not make it difficult for them if they are prepared to submit, but you... Samworth the Radiant Knight will become the most despicable betrayer, and no history book will do you justice, and all the glory of Samworth will be trodden down to the foulest dirt."
"The honor of a knight, though, is to protect his people well. Make your move, Sa'ad, and I'm sure you'll keep your word. You have triumphed, and there will be no more 'Samworth the Radiant Knight', just 'Samworth the Betrayer' and 'Sa'ad the King of St. Fountain' from now on."
"Good! I respect your decision. I, Sa'ad, shall carry the honor of 'Radiant Knight' and protect the people of this land until the very end."

Golden Merchant Corps

Gold appears to be the highest treasure no matter where it is, much like a convention. It is strong, durable, and preserves its value. This, however, is not the reason why people are so eager to acquire gold. The need for attractive and sparkling objects is the most primal of all animal desires.

Sanur's fondness for gold was profoundly etched in the merchant's heart when he earned his first gold coin. He found a wooden plaque, painstakingly inscribed the words "Golden Shop", and placed it on his trunk. "Every one of my items will glitter like gold plating." So he thought.

Sanur worked hard and collected every valuable item he could find, and his good service attitude, along with the high quality of his items, helped him become well-known. "Sanur's shop is liquid gold," a popular phrase goes.

Sanur did not rest on his laurels, despite his fame and fortune. The astute merchant knew that no matter how much wealth he's accumulated, he would one day be on the chopping board of the Pope and the nobles. As a result, he established alliances with other large businessmen and merchants, while also integrating the region's minor traders. The "Golden Merchant Corps" was eventually formed. The "Golden Merchant Corps" increased in size under Sanur's leadership, and its dealings extended all over the world. Sanur, who had traveled to these shores with the Mastangs, finally had his moment—a chance to grab power at the very inception of the Council of the Wise. He used his huge annual funding support for the council as a bargaining chip in exchange for becoming one of the Wise. Since then, this group of merchants has finally claimed its place in politics.

Time has passed, this land has been through many hardships and changes. The old dynasty was destroyed and a new kingdom was established, the previous Council of the Wise has long ago faded into history, but the "Golden Merchant Corps" remains active on the scene with its distinct vision and strong judgement. The "Golden Merchant Corps" now controls numerous enterprises in St. Fountain, and they have covertly utilized money to create a "golden dynasty" of merchants.

"...Yes, it's time. Yes, Nora, it's me...
It's everything.
The time has come.
I never imagined I'd still be able to give you such a valuable legacy.
Is there any need for me to flee this sacrifice that is heading my way, given that I am already a flame in the wind?
I'm a failing artist who is unrecognized and irredeemable.
But, at the very least... I now have an opportunity to make my death meaningful...
At the very least, after this is over, I will be able to leave in peace.
And you, Nora, may leave St. Fountain right away and enjoy the rest of your life without having to worry about food or clothing..."

At the bottom of the shredded page was a tattered piece of letter paper that had been taped on in a lovely way that revealed who had done it.

"...Dear Nora, as always, I'll be waiting for you at the Ferris wheel. I have the most fantastic gift for you, so please allow me to pull the curtain on our brand new future."

"...Everything is ready.
Just make an appointment with Ladylas to come to my workplace and sort everything out.
He was already a genius, just hampered by his own health...
Everything that has happened in St. Fountain recently is unbelievable, yet real...
I'm not sure why he insists on staying in St. Fountain, but if that's what he wants, I'll do my best to accommodate him.
That man... he has the ability to drive everyone away... and he has the ability to drive me away...
In fact, he accomplished this a long time ago.
But he couldn't force me to leave his side like that, my dear Ladylas, and when we meet again, we'll untie all the knots in our hearts."

"...I once read a story that went something like this.
It was about a composer who traveled to a foreign country to try to relieve his grief after the death of his children.
There, he encountered a youth whose beauty reminded him of an ancient Greek sculpture, and he became obsessed with him.
Unfortunately, shortly after his arrival, that city was silently ravaged by the plague, and everyone panicked and fled. The composer, who stayed to see more of that exquisite young man's face, was eventually soiled by the disease and died in a foreign region.
As a teenager, this was one of my favorite stories. After I became a composer as well, I would often recall this story and burst out laughing.
Now it appears that the chuckles are intended for myself.
I've just arrived in a foreign country and am in a circumstance that is perhaps similar to his.
There's also a presence that I am deeply obsessed with and crazy about. I'm willing to die for her. However, the difference is that I'm already dying, and even the most optimistic estimates places my remaining lifetime at around three months. It's true that this is my final stop, and I can't change that. I can't pull off a clumsy romantic deed like the one in the story. In comparison, the purpose of my journey is far uglier than the story.
But I can still feel happiness, albeit a selfish bliss in the midst of my remorse."

Along with the tattered pages were additional insurance policies with similar text, all carefully folded and signed with Ladylas's name.

"...beginningbeginning with the effective date or reinstatement of this contract, the firm shall pay the amount of insurance mentioned for the insured person's death as a consequence of sickness or accidental injury, and this contract will then expire immediately. If the insured dies as a result of sickness or an accident after the second year, the company will pay the increased sum covered and this contract will be terminated..."

"Is this a self-fulfilling prophecy? St. Fountain isn't what I expected it to be.
Or maybe... it's not the same as what Nora told me. There is absolutely no atmosphere or vibrancy of a tourist town here. Instead, it is lifeless, just like me.
No, this isn't related to my own mental state. Nora said that St. Fountain was not always like this... and that it only recently began to deteriorate.
We have a lot in common: a crumbling city and a fading life.
Nora... my beloved Nora, at least I can make myself come here, at least I can die under your careful eye, in your embrace, just like in the poem we read together.
I shall see at the end of my mortal life that... it is you who will take me where I will go.
But... I couldn't leave you anything. I, too, did not despise my destitution until it was too late.
I'll have peace... and just peace.
Will I?
Despite the fact that I have nothing... will I?"

Ladylas's Diary Page: MAY 24

"...aa faint scarlet glow arises in the sky, with no explanation and no way to explain it. The tourists have vanished, and there is a curious anecdote that appears to be circulating all over... seems a little ridiculous.
I never imagined that I would really become the story's composer. I knew the city was infected with the plague and that everyone was trying to flee, but I didn't want to leave for the sake of my love.
Just... ask yourself, am I staying here for the sake of my love?
Or is it... simply for my own personal agenda?
True, I shouldn't be so selfish... but with such a sensible 'accident' there next to me, it's difficult for me to resist. At the very least, my little demise will leave something for you, Nora.
...There's a knock on the door, so let's call it a day."

Nora's Diary Page: MAY 12

"...Ladylas felt that he could hide it from me, but how could he forget my profession at such a crucial moment?
I've seen a dying man's expression too much...
It's no wonder that you'd want to visit St. Fountain. You're here to... say goodbye to me?
Since this is your wish, then... I can only pretend not to know.
If this is the path you took on your last journey, everything will continue as intended, and my ticket to Germany will be returned for the time being.
Why... Why are there still incurable illnesses today?
It's not fair that your health has hampered your talent and is now claiming your life far too soon... it's not fair..."

Nora's Diary Page: JUN 6

"That's right, Soulium. Try pronouncing these syllables? Soul-ium[sic][sic]
The blond man sounded very cocky.
And he's probably already noticed me. But he doesn't seem to care...
Yes, he was able to resurrect from the dead... right before my eyes! Who the hell is he?
No... what the hell is he?
And the voice that spoke to him... that could only be heard in a nightmarish dream, right?
Is it possible that the recent rumors are true? St. Fountain is indeed heading... but what is happening in all this?
No... Calm down, Nora, calm down.
Is there a chance that if there is a presence in the universe beyond my imagination, I could be able to save Ladylas?
Should I tell Ladylas about this..."

The majority of the handwriting in the journal is unintelligible, resembling randomly drawn lines rather than characters, and bordering on nonsensical gibberish.
If that is a language, it is currently not intelligible to humans.
However, there is a portion near the bottom of the journal that belongs to humans——the handwriting reveals the writer's sophisticated nature.

"In any case, Lucheni, what you've brought has opened my eyes.
If you come here one day, please remember that this is a wonderful gift from me to you.
I attempted to change a person for five hundred years and failed.
I was on the verge of losing faith. Thank you and your men for making me realize... it was all an accident.
I've never experienced death, but an old friend of mine once told me...
That moment is longer than ever, long enough to reflect on every step you took when you first arrived in this world...
I hope your language study goes well so that you can grasp human emotions and human despair."

... I don't know how to describe their relationship.

Allies? Companions? Or just travelers bound together by common interests? I don't know, but I'm sure about one thing - together, they pose a huge threat to the earth.

The things I can do now are limited, but at least I'm not completely restricted, which is a blessing.

As for the visitors from beyond the sky, even if I only had brief contact with them, I can feel that they are enemies of human civilization. And him... I must try my best to stop that horrific plan to use humanity as a bargaining chip.

I'm always grateful for when Honkai disappeared from the earth, but I also feel uncertain. Peace was hard won, and we have never forgotten that, not for a single moment. But now, as if to confirm our anxieties, it's finally gone.

Once again, enemies with evil intentions have returned to this newly-recovered planet, and... I will once again pick up where I left off.

For my allies, my family, my...

... The ancient sages believed that introspection was a virtue.

Seeing the notes I wrote before, I can't help but feel a little ashamed that at this age, I am still so hot-headed. If the doctors knew about it, I would have been an eternal laughing stock. What I need now isn't excitement, but calmness and reflection.

Although he did not completely restrict my personal freedom, he still imprisoned me in some ways. The darkness in which I find myself now is undoubtedly beyond St. Fountain—or, at worst, beyond Earth.

Creating a separate space is unsurprising. After all, in my previous battles, I have met several enemies with similar powers. But... this place wasn't created by him.

What worries me is something else—if these interstellar predators have mastered the technology of manipulating space, if this technology has already become prominent in their civilization... then the threat they pose immeasurable.

I need more information, and for this I must meet the "it" that is behind him, the one known as the Assassin—the vanguard of the Marauders. Maybe I should try to negotiate with him, or say something to make him feel that a meeting with me would do no harm.

Can I do it? After all, the five hundred years he spent with that man was enough for him to be infected with the same depth and cunning...

... I finally saw it——Lucheni.

To be more precise, I "heard" it.

I don't know where I was, and it was dark all around, so the point of light in the distance became the most visible object. The noise came from the light and rippled into the empty space.

At first, I thought the noise was just a meaningless roar, or the reverberation of some kind of mechanical device. But after a while, I realized that there was a pattern in it—it was a language.

"Congratulations, former Herrscher of Reason, you guessed it right." He spoke with banter in his tone, and complacency that I couldn't understand.

"Like some human languages, we can understand even if the structure of sentences and the order of phrases are changed. It's equally true of the language of the Sky People. As long as you understand some of it, you can understand everything being said at this moment."

He was right. I quickly understood Lucheni's "words." It was a message that was beyond our lexicon. The torrent of sound waves impacted my consciousness. I felt like a fragile boat that was suddenly thrown into the turbulent sea. I tried to put these messages into my head, but they were like an endless sea, overturning and submerging the boat I depended on.

I felt like I was sinking into a darkness that was even more terrifying than the bottom of the sea, and its name was the universe...

... I have understood everything. At least, I have understood what we're about to face.

Void Archives, Lucheni, the Sky People, and... all of these are connected at the worst moment. What makes me want to laugh and weep all at once is that Lucheni's purpose is the most obvious one among them.

Once the Stargate opens, the earth will be shrouded in war again. And the time left for us, for me... is far less than enough.

According to Mei's character, Squad 3 will definitely continue to investigate St. Fountain. At this moment, she and Theresa must have realized the gravity of the situation. If destiny can reunite them from all over the world... then human beings may still have a chance to win.
/Hopefully/Hopefully, Bronya has also arrived in St. Fountain, and so we have one more to rely on.

To buy them more time, I must try to have more in-depth communications with Lucheni. Since Void Archives can imbue it with human knowledge, I should be able to do that too.

I don't know if this concept existed in the world of the Sky People, but it's worth a shot. If I want to break its alliance with Void Archives, I must make it realize that... human beings lie.

The Fall of the House of Usher

From that chamber, and from that mansion, I fled aghast.
The storm was still abroad in all its wrath as I found myself crossing the old causeway.
Suddenly there shot along the path a wild light, and I turned to see whence a gleam so unusual could have issued; for the vast house and its shadows were alone behind me.
The radiance was that of the full, setting, and blood-red moon which now shone vividly through that once barely-discernible fissure of which I have before spoken as extending from the roof of the building, in a zigzag direction, to the base.
While I gazed, this fissure rapidly widened--there came a fierce breath of the whirlwind--the entire orb of the satellite burst at once upon my sight--my brain reeled as I saw the mighty walls rushing asunder--there was a long tumultuous shouting sound like the voice of a thousand waters--and the deep and dank tarn at my feet closed sullenly and silently over the fragments of the "House of Usher".
