Pollux, also known as Netherwing and Netherwing: Pollux, is an NPC on Amphoreus. It is a fragment of Thanatos, the Death Titan's remains, and had laid dormant in the River of Souls for some time.[1] In combat, it is Castorice's Memosprite.

Profile

Pollux is a fragment of the remains of the Death Titan, Thanatos, long dormant in the currents of the River of Souls. It was awakened through alchemical conjuration and transformed into a creature of rot and decay, known as Netherwing. He once swam upstream in the River of Souls, leaving the realm of non-existence to be stranded in the mortal world, bringing with him the doom of all things in Amphoreus. His presence shakes the souls of every living and deceased being.

History

Polyxia created Pollux following the events that led her sister Castorice to sacrifice her life to allow her to become the demigod of Death.

Once the Era Nova arrived and Polyxia became the Titan of Death, she gathered the soul of Castorice, gave it a body. To transport it to the world of the living, Polyxia molded part of her power/divinity into the form of a dragon, Pollux, swimming upstream in the River of Souls and descending upon Styxia, the place where she would leave Castorice.

When Pollux arrived in Styxia, it also brought the authority of Death, bringing decay, death and chaos, causing the River of Souls to contaminate the waters of Styxia. The inhabitants saw only a massive dragon darkening the sky and seemingly attacking the city, with many believing it to be an "evil dragon" summoned to destroy Styxia. Its mere presence contaminated Styxia and shattered the boundary between life and the afterlife, trapping countless souls within the city. From that moment on, in the eyes of the inhabitants of Amphoreus, Pollux became the "dragon of calamity," the monster that had brought ruin and death to Styxia.

As they journeyed through Styxia, Castorice and the Trailblazer witnessed the fragmented memories of the spirits remaining in the city, gradually piecing together the tragedy that had occurred centuries earlier. They eventually reached Pollux, now transformed into a mad guardian blocking the passage to the nether realm. To free the trapped souls and reclaim the Coreflame of Death, Castorice and the Trailblazer were forced to face him in battle.

After Pollux's defeat, however, the Trailblazer began to succumb to the nether realm's influence. Realizing that the Trailblazer's soul could not endure much longer in that place, Castorice decided to continue on alone beyond the boundary of death. In the heart of the nether realm, she finally encountered Thanatos, discovering that the deity before her was actually Polyxia.

Polyxia revealed that she had taken on the burden of Death to save Castorice and that she had created Pollux so that she could live once more in the world of the living, even at the cost of being remembered as a monster. Finally accepting her sister's wish, Castorice ended her eternal torment and inherited her power, becoming the new demigod of Death.
