Kay Faelschung

Last updated 2026-02-21

As long as she set her heart on something, she was bound to make it happen.

Kay Faelschung is a mentioned NPC. She was an artist and a jewelry counterfeiter.

Profile

Kay worked for a gang that sold counterfeit jewels for large amounts of money. Her mother was the mistress of a gangster boss, who was killed for knowing too much, and Kay realized that she would likely suffer the same fate if she stayed in the gang. She made a plan with McDunn to escape the gang: they would hand off the gang's jewels to Public Security in exchange for receiving a lighter sentence. However, their plan to switch the jewels with counterfeits failed, and they were forced to flee from their pursuers. Kay hid the jewels in a small submarine at the bottom of the sea, along with a painting she had made as a birthday gift for McDunn. She sailed towards the Torchlit Lighthouse to regroup with McDunn, but the stormy waters, combined with the lighthouse being unlit and unable to guide her, made her boat sink and she drowned.

Years after her death, Public Security apprehended the rest of the gang and found a lamp among Kay's works in their possession. The lamp was inscribed with the message "Let its faint glimmer lead you to the sleeping treasure at Sea Crow's Nest." Public Security thought it was a way to find the stolen jewels she hid, but they could not find a place called "Sea Crow's Nest," and the lamp was sent for safekeeping at the New Eridu Gallery.[1]

A few days before the Elpis Ultimate Angler Championship began, a criminal gang stole multiple pieces from the art gallery, including the lamp. They were apprehended by Public Security with the help of Phaethon, and McDunn revealed the secret of the lamp to them. When the lamp was connected to the lighthouse, it sent out a signal to the submarine, which docked at Nautilus Reef and was fished out the rest of the way. The jewels were finally retrieved, and a copy of Kay's painting was made for McDunn to keep, which he hung on the lighthouse door.[2]
