McDunn is an NPC located in Port Elpis.
Profile
McDunn is the lighthouse keeper of Torchlit Lighthouse. He is old and cynical, having been jaded by Hollow disasters and the deaths of his companions.
History
In his youth, he was a criminal in the same gang as Kay Faelschung, a jewelry counterfeiter. Kay and McDunn came up with a plan to escape the gang: they would hand off the gang's jewels to Public Security in exchange for receiving a lighter sentence. However, their plan to switch the jewels with counterfeits failed, and they were forced to run. They got separated and McDunn waited for Kay to sail to the lighthouse, but an unusual storm struck the lighthouse and broke its light. In desperation, he contacted Public Security for help, but they refused to cooperate as the stolen jewels had not been returned. Kay's boat sank and she ultimately drowned. This incident caused McDunn to become deeply cynical and distrustful of Public Security.
Years later, McDunn published an article referring to Nautilus Reef as "Sea Crow's Nest," because one of Kay's works — a lamp inscribed with the message "Let its faint glimmer lead you to the sleeping treasure at Sea Crow's Nest." — had been stolen from an art gallery. McDunn deliberately altered the article's date to seem as if it had been published several years prior to the theft, when in fact, McDunn wrote it to lure the criminals to Nautilus Reef. His plan was for the criminals to seek him out for help, as he was familiar with that area, then he would shipwreck their boat and drown them all together. However, Qingyi and Zhu Yuan caught wind of his plan before it came to fruition, and PubSec apprehended the criminals in their base.
As thanks for retrieving the lamp, McDunn explained the secret to them: "Sea Crow's Nest" was actually the lighthouse, where he (the Sea Crow) spent most of his time. The lamp could be connected to the lighthouse's operating system and shine a blue light to where Kay hid the jewels. The blue light was actually a signal that connected to a submarine carrying the hidden jewels, which stopped moving near Nautilus Reef, and McDunn operated the lighthouse to guide them through the reef as quickly as possible.
Inside the submarine, PubSec found the stolen jewels, as well as a painting by Kay meant as a birthday gift for McDunn. A copy of the painting was made for McDunn to keep, which he turned into a promotional poster for the lighthouse.[1]

Dialogue
- (Interaction with Polite Tourist and Calm Tourist - 6AM)
- Polite Tourist: I heard this lighthouse has stood here for ages! Can we go up and take a look?
- McDunn: Sorry, the lighthouse is closed to visitors.
- Polite Tourist: Is it really not possible...?
- McDunn: What's so interesting about an old and poorly maintained tower? Aren't you afraid of falling down from those rickety stairs?
- Calm Tourist: Knock it off, he's just thinking about our safety. Let's just explore around it!
- Polite Tourist: What a pity. The view from the lighthouse must be amazing...
- McDunn: This tower isn't tall at all. There is nothing to see from the top. All right, just go, go.
- (Interact with Locker)
- These appear to be lockers prepared for visitors exploring the port walkway.
Check carefully
Nothing interesting here. Let's go.
- (Selecting this option exits the dialogue.)
- There seems to be some faint writing on the sticker... It's just a row of numbers, but it takes some time to make it out.
Old McDunn, the lighthouse keeper, has been standing by the locker since an unknown moment. - McDunn: You do your thing. Don't worry about me. But there's nothing secret about these numbers.
- McDunn: Actually, it's the combination for the upper-left public locker.
- McDunn: Two years ago, the lockers here were replaced with those featuring password locks and touchscreens.
I moved the old stuff into the new lockers and wrote the passwords on the stickers... but nobody really cared.
"The old stuff"?
Why keep them here?- McDunn: What else could it be? It must have been left by the people who used to work at the Torchlit Lighthouse.
- McDunn: They hadn't been at sea long when... that incident happened.
The old city fell...
The Port Elpis Hollow descends...- McDunn: They're almost certainly dead, but what if? At least, whenever they come back, they'll find that their stuff is still in the lockers.
- McDunn: Hmph, the name of this port means "hope," but nothing good has ever happened here. Especially promises, they've never been kept.
- McDunn's lips curl.
He looks at the ordinary cabinet door in the upper left corner and leaves. - When Will We Return to Port? Achievement Complete
