Dialogue

Failume Heights

(With Vince at Devon Pawnshop — 12PM)
Vince: Hey there, Mr. Dong, closing up shop early today, huh?
Mr. Dong: *sigh* Might as well close early if business is slow. What do you expect me to do anyway? Sit here like some mascot?
Vince: No way! Come on, Mr. Dong, I know everything in your shop is top-notch. If things are slow, it's just because there've been a couple less tourists around lately, eh?
Mr. Dong: ...Heh. Whatever. I'm going to grab a bite.
(After the conversation ends, Mr. Dong enters Yum Cha Sin)

(With Sweety at Yum Cha Sin — 12PM)
Male Tourist: Hey, how do you eat this thing? Looks like a steamed bun.
Female Tourist: Hmm, I'm not sure... I see some hot sauce on the table...
Mr. Dong: Hey, you guys! I've been watching you for a while. That basin is for rinsing dishes with hot water, not for drinking soup.
Mr. Dong: And you! Are you out of your mind? What's the deal with pouring yogurt on rice noodle rolls?
Mr. Dong: And what are you looking at? You can't dip custard buns in hot sauce!
Sweety: Hey, old man! Why are you getting mad at my customers?
Mr. Dong: Look, I don't wanna lose my cool, but he's putting yogurt on rice noodle rolls!
Sweety: ...Yikes. I see...
Mr. Dong: Whatever, I can't be bothered anymore. Sweety, put it on my tab. I'm heading out.
(After the conversation ends, Mr. Dong walks away)

(Behind Fluffy, 12PM)
Out-of-Town Tourist: So, Boss, can this Porcelume really resist Corruption?
Mr. Dong: Of course! Y'see, all that military equipment and Hollow defense gear have Porcelume bits mixed in.
Out-of-Town Tourist: Ugh... but these all look exactly the same. How am I supposed to choose?
Mr. Dong: They might look the same, but they're worlds apart. First off, check out the glaze. That's a dead giveaway for the quality of the Lumite ore used, and whether there's any impurities in it.
Out-of-Town Tourist: ...Wow. Hey man, how come you know so much?
Mr. Dong: No sweat. After all, you gotta know your stuff when you're selling these things.

(With Lee at Yum Cha Sin, 6PM)
Mr. Dong: Yo Lee, get me one basket of char siu and one of spare ribs.
Lee: Alright, just a sec, Mr. Dong.
Mr. Dong: What's up, kiddo? Why all the whispering and muttering?
Boy: Hey old man, how about not robbing this store?
Mr. Dong: Huh? Robbery? Do I look like I know how?
Girl: No need to lie to us! All the robbers on TV look just like you... Hey, at least don't steal the custard buns, okay? They're my favorite...

(With Drew at Yum Cha Sin, 6PM)
Mr. Dong: You could call Porcelume a Waifei Peninsula specialty. But nowadays, all the good Lumite ore deposits are in the Hollow.
Drew: Huh. Isn't mining pretty dangerous, then?
Mr. Dong: Sure it is, but the payoff's sweet too. If you want the real good stuff though, you gotta get your hands on those old civilization pieces — the glazes they used are recognizable at a glance.
Drew: Wow, man, you know so much! Please keep going — also, can I write all of this down?
Mr. Dong: Huh? Taking notes, are you? Sure, go ahead.

(With Masheng behind Fluffy, 6PM)
Mr. Dong: Hey there, kid, how's business been lately?
Masheng: Aaaaaaah, Mr. Dong! I swear, I haven't told another lie since you taught me that lesson last time!
Mr. Dong: Hey, I ain't calling you a liar, why so tense? Just asking how business is going. Need any help?
Masheng: O—Oh. We're great, doing great! Man, you gave me a scare. Thanks for the concern, Mr. Dong, sir!

(With Ginger)‍[Verify time]
Ginger: Checking our goods out, Mr. Dong?
Mr. Dong: Just take a look. Hey, Ginnie, did you label this wrong? This glaze is too fresh for some ancient old civilization relic, ain't it?
Ginger: Ah. No, Mr. Dong, sir. This is a parallel import. Still the real deal — albeit preserved in pure waters, so it still looks as good as new.
Ginger: But look at these deep yellow water stains — you just can't fake something like that, no matter how hard you try, no sir.
Mr. Dong: Huh. Sharp eye you got there, kid. Seems I've still got much to learn from you.
Ginger: Oh no, you're too kind! Drop by anytime, let's chat more.

(With Ivy in front of Undestructible)‍[Verify time]
Mr. Dong: Hey Ivy, have A-Hong and the others been around lately? Everything alright with you all?
Ivy: They've got the newest filters and masks installed, and I checked the drill bits and valves last time — they're still in great shape. You can rest easy, Uncle Dong.
Mr. Dong: Good. Good on A-Hong, especially. Now if that punk Kun tries to skimp on life-saving gear again, you just...
Ivy: I... I'll scold him just like you would?
Mr. Dong: That's right. Give him hell and put it on my tab. Thanks for your help, Ivy. Really appreciate you going out of your way.

Sailume Bay

(With Huangqi)‍[Verify time]
Huangqi: Phew... Almost done delivering all these medicinal herbs.
Huangqi: Man, I'm totally wiped out.
Mr. Dong: Huangqi, you should take a break.
Mr. Dong: I know Sailume Bay like the back of my hand. Leave the rest of the medicine to me.
Huangqi: Thanks for your kindness, Mr. Dong.
Huangqi: But the patients here need rest and can't be startled.
Mr. Dong: You're right...

(Morning)
Timid Child: *sobbing*
Mr. Dong: I've got lots of friends in Sailume Bay, and I'm here to visit them...
Mr. Dong: Uncle knows life is tough for everyone. Uncle isn't a bad guy...
Mr. Dong: Trust me, Uncle ain't here to collect protection money...
Mr. Dong: Hey kid, you got all that?
Frightened Child: Waaah—! *sobbing*...

(With Qingyun, Late Night)
Mr. Dong: Huh? Hey, you, Qingyun!
Qingyun: Mr. Dong, I was just about to look for you...
Qingyun: About my sister...
Mr. Dong: Don't worry. A-Hong already filled me in. I've asked some folks in the neighborhood to keep an eye out...
Qingyun: Thank you, Uncle Hong, and the folks at Sailume Bay.
Mr. Dong: No worries. We're all family here.
Mr. Dong: Besides, the future of Sailume Bay depends on ambitious, responsible young folks like you, chasing your dreams and all, right?
Qingyun: You're flattering us...

(Late Night)
Mr. Dong: Who would've thought...
Mr. Dong: After all those hardships, this place still manages to burst with life...
Mr. Dong: Things have changed, but generations of people who live here have always been optimistic and are always striving for a better life...
Mr. Dong: What will it be like in ten or twenty years from now?
