Waifei Peninsula is a region in Zenless Zone Zero. It is a district of Throne Quarter located on the outskirts of the Lemnian Hollow.^{[1][Note 1]} This region is known for its production of Porcelume, an Ether-resistant material mined in Aerospace City.

Trivia

• Waifei Peninsula as a whole is heavily inspired by the Cantonese region, with the local dialect being in-real-life Cantonese.
  • In Failume Heights, some of the Cantonese elements that can be found are billboards in Traditional Chinese with Cantonese jokes, tong sui stands, yum cha culture, char siu bao as a signature dish, people playing mahjong in the streets, and the economical relevance of their industries.
  • More specifically, the funicular railway and the coastal position could be references to Hong Kong.
• In Version 2.6, Failume Heights was updated to have new open-world decorations, NPC idle quotes and dialogues, and special background music for Chinese New Year. Additionally, fireworks can be seen at Late Night (12AM).

Etymology

• Waifei (Cantonese: 衛非 wai6fei1) is the Cantonese reading of 衛非 Wèifēi, derived from the sentence 戍衛空洞這一非常理之物 syu3wai6 hung1dung6 ze2 jat1 fei1soeng4 lei5 zi1 mat6, "Protection from the anomaly called Hollows".^[1]
