Aj Nimalaj Chuq'ab Hun

Aj Nimalaj Chuq'ab Hun Ch'ule-L, also known as the Valiant One, was the First of the Thirteen Sovereign Lords.^[3] He was one of the artificial intelligence rulers created by Xiuhcoatl.^[4]

Story

After the invasion of Teyvat by the Heavenly Principles and the defeat of the Seven Sovereigns, with Xiuhcoatl imprisoned within lava he, alongside his fellow Sovereign Lords and Kukulkan, attempted to replicate the miracle of moon forging and reach the worlds beyond Teyvat.^[5] However, upon Nibelung's return, Xiuhcoatl awoke from his feigned death and stopped the Sovereign Lords and Kukulkan from continuing their attempt.^[5]

During the era of the ancient dragons' rule over Natlantea, he presided over the Sovereign Rulers' Council as its Speaker.^[1] He grew to respect Xbalanque's strength and thus deemed him worthy of death at his hands. Thus, he argued against the execution of Ix Ajkotz'i'j Iq'ismal Waxak. He believed that Xbalanque's might made it natural for humans to wish to side with him, and thus the Eighth Lord continuing to harbor Lianca despite her allegiance to Xbalanque did not constitute treason. Ultimately, he was outvoted and she was executed.^[6]

Nimalaj was slain atop the Skyfire Circlet during Xbalanque's siege of the Sacred City of Tollan.^[7]

• Aj Nimalaj Chuq'ab Hun Ch'ule-L comes from Mayan Languages.
  • Aj (Mayan: aj) means "man." It is the "male prefix" used to form male titles. It is related to the title Ajaw (Mayan: ajaw).
  • Nimalaj Chuq'ab (Kʼicheʼ: nimalaj chuqʼab) means "great power." It is glossed as "Valiant One" in-game.
  • Hun (Yucatec: hun) means "one."
  • Chu'ule-L (Mayan Tzeltal: Chʼulel) means "essence" or "soul." It is the inner, individual soul which has thirteen parts and is centered in the heart.
