Borenka

Last updated 2026-08-21

Borenka (Russian: Боренька Boren'ka) is a quest-exclusive NPC that appears in the World Quest Clean House.

Profile

Borenka serves as a naval intelligence officer for the Fatui. He was sent to Inazuma to collect Shogunate remnants recommended by Nathan for the First Lord Harbinger.[Note 1] However, the remnants caused unnecessary attention to themselves that resulted in Shizuru and the Traveler coming to investigate and confront Borenka. Initially playing themselves off as new recruits, they decided to throw away their cover after Borenka refused to reveal any information on their orders. After being defeated once, Borenka withdrew and chugged some Fire-Water, leaving his subordinates to handle them. However, they were unable to do so and Borenka fought them a second time, only to be defeated for good.[1]

Appearance

Borenka takes the appearance of a Fatui Skirmisher - Electrohammer Vanguard.

Borenka's Orders

Borenka's "Orders": "...Be sure to withdraw with all haste and bring the new Inazuman recruits who retrieved the secret report that 'Nathan' wrote to the First Lord Harbinger."
Borenka's "Orders": "To prevent any repercussions from this incident, no one must know about the inner workings of what happened on Yashiori Island."
Borenka's "Orders": "The new recruits do not have any innate value to the overall goals of the Fatui, and need not be trained in any way. They will, however, do just fine as living test samples."

Notes

  1. The Chinese text for Borenka's Orders is the only instance of the phrase 首席执行官大人 "First Lord Harbinger," lit. "Head (Chief or First) Seat Lord Harbinger." Its parallel with Tartaglia's designation as the 末席 lit. "Last Seat" in Enter the Golden House lends to the interpretation that the phrase refers to the First of the Fatui Harbingers, Capitano. However, the Harbinger in Borenka's Orders is implied to be the mastermind behind the Inazuman civil war, who also ordered Scaramouche to oversee the Delusion Factory (see Delusion). This is inconsistent with both Capitano's irrelevance to Inazuma lore and his later characterization in Chapter V, and instead better relates to Pierro's history of assigning Scaramouche "many important tasks" and sending Il Dottore to sabotage Inazuma 400 years ago. Ultimately, the mastermind has not been brought up since Clean House was released.
