Cacucu

Cacucu is Ifa's Qucusaur companion and self-proclaimed "brother."^[5]

He is an NPC exclusive to quests and events who first appears in After the Peace in Mavuika's Story Quest, Sol Invictus Chapter: Act I - As the Blazing Sun.

In and outside combat, Cacucu assists Ifa when called upon by Ifa's Elemental Skill, Airborne Disease Prevention, allowing Ifa to fly for some time in a similar way to adult Qucusaurs.

Profile

Cacucu is a cheerful, energetic Qucusaurus. He assists at Ifa's clinic and is capable of understanding and mimicking human speech. Due to the limits of his vocal cords, he mainly communicates by repeating catchphrases he learned from Ifa:

However, like other Saurian NPCs, Cacucu is capable of fluent communication with the Traveler when the latter indwells a Saurian.^[6] Neuvillette is also capable of understanding Cacucu.^[7]

In the past, Cacucu was bullied by other Saurians due to his unusual appearance and was in poor condition when Ifa found him. Ifa nursed him back to health, and Cacucu began following Ifa. When they were treating a sick saurian, Cacucu also became infected and ran a high fever. Though Ifa gave it his all, Cacucu nearly died, but managed to recover from his illness and continued following him.^[8]

Unbeknownst to Ifa, Cacucu saw Ifa for the first time when Cacucu's mother successfully hatched him after her injuries were being treated by Ifa. As a genius amongst his kind, Cacucu is well aware that were it not for this intervention, he wouldn't have been born. After Cacucu's mother passed on due to old injuries relapsing, he decided that Ifa was a prime candidate to follow around, which would be even better if he could repay Ifa by becoming his assistant. To do so, Cacucu worked with Ororon and pecked at Ororon's vegetables for Ororon to accuse Ifa. This led to Ifa compensating for the damages by taking in Cacucu and becoming Ororon's courier for a month. Knowing that Ifa has a tendency to shoulder the responsibilities of others, Cacucu decided that he didn't need to know how Cacucu was born so it wouldn't become a factor for Ifa taking him in as a companion.^[9]

During the events of Whirling Waltz, Cacucu ended up panicking upon learning of a law that prohibited flying objects in Fontaine for the first three days of the month, resulting in him flying into the Palais Mermonia, where he met Wriothesley and Neuvillette. Wriothesley managed to teach Cacucu how to say "good morning" when Cacucu stayed with him and Neuvillette to sign a confidentiality agreement on a smuggling case. He was also classified as not a flying object, allowing him to move around Fontaine whenever he so pleases.^[7]

Appearance

Cacucu is a juvenile Qucusaurus. He does not resemble the standard Qucusaurus Chick, instead having a smaller, round, light pink body. His left eye is covered by a white eyepatch.

Cacucu can "grow" a set of wings like a mature Qucusaurus.
