Derwent

Derwent is a mentioned NPC in Genshin Impact.

Profile

Derwent was a hermit who lived in a hut on the northern part of Lempo Isle in Nod-Krai. He was known for his hospitality towards lost or injured adventurers, and regularly visited his friends in Nasha Town. He also taught the Conch Gang kids how to read.^[2]

A few months before the Traveler arrives in Nod-Krai, Derwent took in Hark the Crackjaw, who had fled Nasha Town after being accused of robbing his caravan and killing Juhani. Hark hoped to retreat from society under Derwent's tutelage, and told Derwent all the crimes he had committed. Believing that everyone deserved a second chance, Derwent took him in and tended to his injuries.^[2]

By the time the Traveler arrives in Nod-Krai, Derwent's friends and acquaintances have noticed changes in his personality and behavior. This prompts Jahoda, Nefer, the Traveler and Paimon to investigate the hermit during the several Intel Quests. They discover that Hark had eventually killed Derwent and taken on his identity to avoid detection. After confronting Hark, Nefer and the Traveler fight and kill him.^[1]

Appearance

Derwent used to look thin when wearing his robes and always spoke softly.^[2]
