Eftirvit

Eftirvit, sometimes shortened to Vit, is a mentioned character in Genshin Impact. He was the Vice-President of the Universitas Magistrorum before the Cataclysm.^[1]

Rhinedottir claims that Eftirvit envied Hroptatyr for his position of the President of the Universitas Magistrorum, after missing out on the presidency.^[1]

Etymology

• Eftirvit is likely derived from the Old Norse words eptir "after" and vit "intelligence"; combined, it can mean "afterthought" or more plainly, "foolishness". This may be an allusion to him being the opponent of Hroptatyr, whose name literally means "wise".
  • The naming convention of "Eftirvit" somewhat resembles that of the Greek mythological figure, Epimetheus - literally "afterthought" or in that context, "foolishness", as compared to his brother Prometheus (literally "foresight", i.e. "the wise").
