Luonnotar

Luonnotar is a quest-exclusive NPC that first appears in the Archon Quest Where the Moon Rises in Song of the Welkin Moon: Act I - A Dance of Snowy Tides and Hoarfrost Groves.

Profile

Luonnotar are special kuuhenki born from the Moon Goddesses' blessings that are thought to bring good fortune. Resembling rabbits in appearance, they are extremely rare and can take thousands of years to form.^[2] It is revealed that Columbina travels to the past, and uses a piece of her soul to create Luonnotar and has her trail the Traveler to help them when the time came.^[3]

Appearance

Luonnotar has rabbit-like ears. She resembles normal kuuhenki, but she has more detailed clothing, facial features, and slightly different coloration. She has ribbons on her back and Luna crescent on back of her head.

Lore

Luonnotar was created by Columbina, who traveled to the past and used a piece of her soul, as an anchor to the present. Columbina has her trail the Traveler to help them when the time came, with the immediate second instruction of leading them to Silvermoon Hall so they could meet her past self, "a little lost dove", for the first time.^[3]

Trivia

Etymology

• Luonnotar (luonto (Finnish: luonto "nature") + -tar) is another name for Kave, a female spirit or goddess in Finnish mythology. It is also another name for Ilmatar, a virgin spirit and goddess of the air in the Finnish national epic Kalevala.
