Nastya (Russian: Настя) is a quest-exclusive NPC who appears in the World Quest Series In the Dwelling of Life.
Profile
Nastya was a young child who lived in the village of Okurov in a house alongside her mother. Okurov was closed off from the rest of Snezhnaya, although its inhabitants included Furiosa, Zhara and a few Leshy such as Aunt LePuy and Ove. From what she recalled, there was a doctor called Moreau, though he is eventually revealed to be Koshchei.
By the time the Traveler arrived, Nastya had attempted to sneak out of Flamefeather Valley but was caught by several Volkodlak. She claims to have slept for an unknown amount of time, but it had been enough that she had not recalled a sun nor most of the inhabitants having gone missing during her slumber. They entered Okurov, where they were attacked by Zhara, who had identified the Traveler and Paimon as "Badbugs." They managed to reunite with Nastya in the village, where she revealed that the assembly hall was blocked off by a key that the Traveler had to steal from No-Nose Ove. As they approached the hall, they were stopped by Furiosa, who had realized the truth behind Koshchei's intentions and had refused his gift. The Traveler defeated Furiosa, who told Nastya that she hoped that she would not regret her decision, confusing Nastya as she wondered how she hadn't turned into the Perfect Tree.
The group continued through the assembly hall and into the Teeming Mire, where Zhara attempted to stop the Traveler but was defeated. In the chaos of the battle, Nastya went to the "home" of a giant tree, where she underwent a ritual to also become a Perfect Tree herself. The Traveler and Paimon, who realized Koschei's intentions, tried to convince her to stop, but Nastya refused, stating that she wanted to hear the voice of her mother once more and would tell her about their travels. Her functions were briefly taken over by Koshchei, who allowed her some time to say her farewells to the Traveler and Paimon before she disintegrated into blue algae.
The Traveler can return to Nastya's home, where they can find a Juvenile Tree Segment named "Shar" who had since taken up residence and blue algae by the bed. If interacted with, the Traveler can hear Nastya's thoughts, who is surprised to have found herself back at home, remarking about the new life occupying her home and that her "little corner" is no longer hers despite her mother being beside and stroking her.[2]
