Dialogue
- (Approach to Nastya after taking the lift)
- Nastya: The bridge to the assembly hall is right over there. But where is Furiosa? I usually see her around here...
- Paimon: Hmm... Is this "Furiosa" someone really important, Nastya? Paimon's heard you mention her quite a few times now.
- Nastya: Of course! She's my idol! Or should I say, she's still my number-one idol right now, and you two are at number two for now.
- Nastya: You should have a match-up with her when you have the time! Maybe the rankings will change then!
A chance to shake up the leaderboard has appeared!
- Paimon: Aw, yeah! (Traveler) is a super good fighter, you know!
But if I can't beat her, can I concede the match instead?
- Paimon: Hey, hey, hey — why are you thinking of turning tail even before the match-up has happened??? Paimon totally believes in you!
- Paimon: But Paimon gets it now: Nastya likes people who are good at fighting. The stronger, the better!
- Nastya: No, no, Paimonka, you got it all wrong. I like people who can protect others. That's why I like Furiosa, Zhara, the Doctor, and the two of you too!
- Nastya: It's just that the stronger you are, the more people you can protect... I think that's why Furiosa said yes to growing branches!
- Nastya: ...They say she was the first person in town to grow branches. After the Doctor helped her grow them, she got new, stronger arms, and she became even better at fighting.
- Nastya: After that, everyone started spending most of their time at the assembly hall, while she stayed outside to keep us safe...
- (Furiosa appears before them on the bridge)
- Furiosa: Nastya... Why are you here...? No one is supposed to go to the assembly hall anymore...
- Nastya: ...But why, Furiosa?
- (While fighting Furiosa)
- Furiosa: Nastya... Why are you here...? No one is supposed to go to the assembly hall anymore...
- Nastya: ...But why, Furiosa?
- Furiosa: Why didn't you... take her away...? Why... come back here?
- Furiosa: Oh... Nastya... Wrong choice...
- Furiosa: I hope... you will... not regret it...
- (After defeating Furiosa)
- Paimon: She's gone... We can enter the assembly hall now!
- Nastya: ...
- Paimon: Nastya? What is it? We're almost at your home, aren't we...?
- Nastya: I just don't understand... Why did Furiosa try to stop me... and why hasn't she turned into the Perfect Tree yet?
- (Nastya runs off toward the assembly hall)
- (Approach the door and push it open)
- (Nastya runs toward the iron door on the right and tries to push it open)
- Nastya: Ugh, I haven't the strength...
- Nastya: You're stronger than me. You give it a try!
- (Investigate the door)
- The door does not budge...
You're unable to open the door from the outside. Find another way to get inside...
- (Investigate the hole next to Nastya)
- Paimon: It's not opening from this side... or from this side either...
- Nastya: Paimonka, (Big Brother/
Big Sister) (Traveler), we usually go through this door in the middle, but I think it's now locked from the inside...
Looks like we can get in through here.- Nastya: Hmm, I think... I can squeeze in through here? Wait for me. I'll go open the door.
- Paimon: Okay! Just call out to us if you run into any trouble, Nastya. Paimon can squeeze through to help too!
- Nastya deftly slipped through the gap...
- Nastya: Whoa!
- Paimon: What happened, Nastya!? Do you need help?
- Nastya: ...I'm fine, something just fell from above. Scared me very bad...
- (Nastya opens the door from the inside)
- (Enter the Hall of Prayers and talk to Nastya)
- Paimon: Wow... This place is... spectacular...
- Nastya: Yeah, it's super pretty, huh? Gets boring if you stay here too long, though.
- Nastya: We used to sit here, carrying the booklets Dr. Moreau wrote us and reciting the prayers he wrote for Zhara. I only remember a few lines...
- Nastya: "Once, I was a firebird, burning on a rusty roof..."
- Nastya: "It pecks at wheat-grains of flesh, and drinks the bitter wine of thought..."
- Nastya: "...Until it becomes a silent tree, growing new branches and leaves in the warm ashes."
- Nastya: Reciting prayers is no fun. I would space out a lot of the time, so I remember most of the places here...
- Nastya: Huh? Why is the curtain drawn here? There should be a road behind it that leads home.
- Nastya: Let me see... There's a mechanism that can open the curtain over there... Ugh, it's so high up. I can't reach it.
You can wait for us here, Nastya.- Paimon: That's right. We'll meet up with you once we've activated the mechanism.
- Nastya: ...But I don't wanna wait here by myself. You're not family, but I don't want us to split up.
- Nastya: Please let me come along... Don't worry, I'll stick real close, just like Paimonka...
- Paimon: O—Okay then. Then let's go together... Who knows, maybe you'll be able to help us out somehow, eh, Nastya?
According to Nastya, there's a way "home" right behind that curtain. Find a way to move it.
- (Approach Nastya)
- (A tutorial is shown)
- (Talk to Nastya, optional)
- Nastya: Can we go up there and activate the switch together now?
Let me think of a way first.
I know what to do.- Nastya: Okay... Good luck!
- (Use the chandelier to move up)
- (Pull the mechanism)
- Paimon: Huh? Why isn't anything happening? Is the switch broken because it hasn't been used in really long or something?
- Nastya: Hmm, I think there's another switch on the other side. The curtain should open if we use both switches at the same time.
- Paimon: Tell you what, Paimon's gonna fly over there, and you two stay here and activate this switch...
You might not have enough strength to do that, Paimon.
Maybe I should go to the other side instead.- Paimon: Hey! Paimon's stronger than you think, okay! It's just a tiny switch... Mmgh... Ugh... The switch must be jammed!
- Nastya: I'll give Paimonka a hand. The two of us together should be as good as one (Big Brother/
Big Sister) (Traveler). - Paimon: Can we do it...? Hold on... Let's do it together... One, two, three!
- Paimon: Yes!!! We did it! Nastya and Paimon will stay on this side. You go over to the other side, and when Paimon gives the signal, we'll activate the mechanisms at the same time...
Aye, aye. Ready for your orders, Captain!- Paimon: Let's see... We should be able to get through from over there.
- Nastya: Be careful now, (Big Brother/
Big Sister) (Traveler)! That way looks dangerous! You haven't grown any branches yet, so it'll really hurt if you fall!
The two switches on either side have to be activated at the same time to move the curtain...
- (Investigate the marked spot)
Observe- (Traveler): (We might need to use this chandelier...)
- (Traveler): (Gotta find a way to reach the top of the chandelier first...)
- (Talk to Nastya, optional)
- Nastya: What is it, (Big Brother/
Big Sister) (Traveler)? Is something wrong?
...I'm a little worried about you and Paimon.
- Nastya: No need to worry. I'll protect Paimonka, and Paimonka will protect me.
- Nastya: A little tree will be blown over by the wind, but two little trees can lean on each other.
It's nothing.
- Nastya: Okay. We'll be waiting for you.
- (Reach the other switch)
- Paimon: Huh? Is (Traveler) already on the other side???
- Paimon: Then Paimon must yell really, really loudly so that (he/
she) can hear Paimon clearly!
- (Ready up)
- Paimon: You gotta wait till Paimon counts to "One," okay?
- Paimon: Three...
- Nastya: Two...
- Paimon: ONE!
- (Press the switch at the incorrect time)
- Paimon: Wha... Uh, never mind. Let's go again. Wait till Paimon counts to "One," okay?
- (Press the switch at the correct time)
- (The mechanism starts spinning and opens the curtain revealing a relief on the wall)
- Paimon: Alright, think that does it! Ooh, there's an elevator here. Let's meet up with (Traveler) downstairs.
- Paimon: Hey, (Traveler)! We'll see you downstairs!
- (Nastya and Paimon run toward the elevator and ride downwards)
- (They exit and run toward the middle of the hall)
You're done with the curtain. Now, it's time to regroup with Nastya and Paimon.
- (Approach Nastya and Paimon)
- (The camera shows the wall relief with three crystals in blue, red and white)
- Nastya: I remember this was carved to look like Zhara. But Zhara doesn't look like this anymore.
- Nastya: We have to keep going, through here...
- Paimon: Oh, okay! Onward we go~ Hang on, isn't this just a wall?
- Nastya: This is the doorway to home. Only the ones who are chosen can go through and become eternal life free of all worries.
- Nastya: Doctor Moreau is the only one who's supposed to know how to open this door, but... But one time, I saw how he did it when I was hiding in a corner of the hall...
- Nastya draws a simple diagram and hands it to you.
- Nastya's Hand-Drawn Diagram

- Paimon: Hmm, so this thing is actually a dial. To open the door behind it, we have to turn it to match the right pattern...
- (Talk to Nastya, optional)
- Nastya: Hmm... Once we go through the doorway, we're at home. But...
What's on your mind, Nastya?
- Nastya: The doctor once said that "the closer you get to home, the more nervous you feel.” I never understood it back then, but now I think I get it...
- Nastya: N-Nothing. I don't know why, but my heart feels a little messy, like a pile of fallen leaves...
Don’t worry. I'll open the doorway.- Nastya: O-Okay. I trust you.
- (Investigate the marked spot)
Observe
- (Camera adjusts to point at dial)
Nastya has told you how to open the door. Now, just carry out her instructions step by step...
- (After placing the Grappling Gun)
- Paimon: Ooh, almost there! We just gotta turn the dial back a bit...
- Paimon: Eh? There's a small hole in the dial...
- Paimon: Ooh, you know what, we just need to jam the dial before it can turn all the way back...
- (After placing the Prime Ice Cube and removing the Grappling Gun the dial spins into an upside-down position)
- Paimon: The dial isn't doing anything... Uh, is the mechanism here broken?
- Nastya: ...Oh! I remember now! For the last step, we gotta put the "salt" there.
- Nastya: Doctor Moreau said that for a person to turn into the Perfect Tree, they have to change in three ways...
- Nastya: "Cast off the soul of the past, and it shall no longer be bound by the hidden veins of the earth." Then, the thing that replaces the soul of the past is... the um... s—sulfur of the soul?
- Nastya: "Cast off the will of the past, and it shall no longer be watched by the gaze above." And the thing that replaces the will is the silver of the spirit.
- (The camera zooms in on Nastya's "horns")
- Nastya: The last thing you have to cast off is... "Cast off the body of the past, and it shall no longer be worn away by the toil and turmoil of the mortal world." So at this point, we have to offer up the material that will replace the body.
- Nastya: So uh... The salt is... the new body that grows from the old one. Yes, that's it!
- (Nastya breaks of one of the twigs growing on her head)
- Nastya: Ow... This hurts a little more than I thought.
- Paimon: Nastya... Are you okay?
- Nastya: I'm okay. It hurts a lot, but I'm happy. This way, I can go back home, and you can find the Doctor and ask him about Koshchei.
- Nastya: So this little bit of hurt doesn't matter... Hurry, hurry up and offer up the salt.
- (They place the twig on a stone pedestal nearby)
- (The blue crystal on the dial gets infused with energy)
- (A flap with another relief folds down from the ceiling and pushes back the wall with the dial revealing a lift)
The door is open. You can now keep going.
- (After the dialogue)
- Paimon: That looks like Zhara...
- Nastya: It will protect the door to our "home."
- Nastya: ...That's what the doctor said.
According to Nastya, this was where she was taken away the last time. And now, she can sense that "home" is very, very near...
- (Ride the lift, push open the door and enter the room)
- Nastya: This is... odd. This is not a courtyard, and I don't see mama here either. This is just a strange room...
- Nastya: Is this your first time here too, Nastya?
- Nastya: Yes... Those bad people took me away before I could come here... But we must be very close to home now.
- Nastya: Let's look around to see if we can find any clues here!
- (Interact with the Yellowed Records)
- Yellowed Records: "...I did not expect the fae [...] so adaptable. Could it be because the Hyperboreans had left some kind of access point behind when they first created them...?"
- Yellowed Records: "A body formed from trees can regrow after being damaged, and also grant the subject strength far beyond that of their original body. However, its language capabilities will regress..."
- Yellowed Records: "After all, there's not much pain to speak of anymore."
- Yellowed Records: "The experiments conducted in the sewers have yielded sufficient data. Now, we must find a way to slowly make the townspeople accept this..."
- Yellowed Records: "Certainly, once they see the 'treatment' Furiosa has undergone, there will always be some poor souls tormented by illness who will want to try it out for themselves..."
- Paimon: The patient's name is... Furiosa!? Isn't she the one we just saw on the bridge...?
- Paimon: So he's the one behind all this! First, he tried to change Furiosa in the sewers, then he turned everyone else into tree monsters... No, no, into the "Perfect Tree" or whatever!
- Paimon: When we find him, Paimon's gonna teach him a real good lesson!
- (Interact with the Less-Than-Legible Notes)
- Less-Than-Legible Notes: ...The final ceremony is about to start, and soon, just like me, everyone shall be reborn from embryo. This is how the very ultimate form of life is born.
- Less-Than-Legible Notes: Some of the townspeople do not seem to agree [...] But their understanding is not something we can demand. Besides, on the scale of the eternal...
- Less-Than-Legible Notes: ...regard every happening as something that would have happened anyway. And in a world where all possibilities happen, everything loses its meaning. Pain, sorrow, despair, envy, they all become inconsequential. Because it was all bound to happen.
- Less-Than-Legible Notes: Hope, joy, laughter — these, too, will lose all color alongside. But these are all things mankind is behooved to cast aside anyway. But perhaps... love will not fade away.
- Less-Than-Legible Notes: ...Oh, Aksinya. The only sin of the world you have so wrongly pursued is its "love of sameness."
- Less-Than-Legible Notes: How can one make you understand... the love of the individual? That love is the one thing that must never be reduced to sameness even if you choose to abandon it in the end...
- Paimon: Hmm. Do you think that Doctor Moreau wrote this...?
- Eye of Graeae: But when I compare this to the handwriting information I have on hand... It is clear that "Doctor Moreau" is actually...
Koshchei the Deathless.- Paimon: This "final ceremony"... What if it turns everyone in town into trees or something???
- Paimon: Um... But where is that Doctor Moreau now?
- (Interact with the terminal at the end of the room)
- (Bars appear around the Traveler's position trapping them)
- Paimon: Huh? What's going on? A trap? Here of all places!?
- Nastya: What is happening!? Why are you locked up???
- Nastya: Wait for me, I'm coming for you... Maybe the thing I found will come in handy now.
- (After defeating the first wave of enemies)
- Paimon: You can do it, Nastya!
- (The walls behind Nastya disappear and two Leshy appear)
- Paimon: So many monsters! Doesn't look like there's a way for Nastya to make it over.
- Paimon: Let's find a way to give Nastya some cover, (Traveler)!
- (After defeating the third wave)
- Nastya: There's someone here. They won't let me through!
- (Interact with the glowing spot after defeating all waves)
Pick Up- After finding a suitable spot, Nastya tosses over the items she just found to you...
- (Interact with the terminal)
Install- (The altar in the middle of the room slides to the left revealing a secret stairway leading down)
- Nastya: Phew... I'm just glad everyone's okay! I didn't know we were gonna find so many people here... behind the shelves.
- Paimon: Same... One second it was dead quiet, and the next, BOOM! They just came rushing out like that!
- Paimon: But hey, look at that new path that just opened up over here.
It looks like the way home to me.- Nastya: I don't know about that. But looks like it's the only path now, and the Doctor said before, "The only path is the right path."
- Nastya: So as long as I follow this path, I'm sure I'll make it back to mama and turn into the Perfect Tree...
- Nastya: The Doctor should be home too. He's never gonna leave. Zhara is protecting him, so I know he's there.
Looks like we're close to finding the answer...- Paimon: Let's keep going, then... Once we get to your "home" and meet Koshchei... no, Paimon means that "Doctor Moreau," we should finally get the answers we've been looking for.
- (The camera cuts to Zhara looking down through a hole in the broken roof and flying off)
