Sorush (Gadget)
Last updated 2026-07-12
Sorush can fly as she pleases to help her Yasnapati unveil the path ahead. She can also use the power of Khvarena to accomplish what is impossible for humans.
Tiny as she is in size, she might be in possession of powers unknown to us all...
Sorush is a Gadget that can be used for exploration in the Girdle of the Sands, Sumeru. It is obtained during the World Quest The Splendorous Sky That Day.
The gadget can be used to play as Sorush, allowing the player to fly and use the power of Khvarena to interact with special objects within a certain range. While playing as Sorush, the player character cannot be controlled.
Sorush is not a true gadget and is merely toggled on when equipped, thus regular gadgets can still be used as per normal. It will also temporarily disappear while in combat or underwater. Outside of the Girdle of the Sands, it is just a cosmetic item (the player cannot play as Sorush).
Upon starting As the Khvarena's Light Shows the gadget is removed and replaced with the second version, mechanically identical but now featuring her wearing the Twin-Horned Chaplet.
Usage
While Sorush is equipped, the player can tap the gadget icon to play as Sorush. During this time, the player character will temporarily disappear and will be marked on the map by the
icon. The player character cannot be controlled in this state, nor can they be targeted by enemies or harmed by environmental hazards (e.g., fire). The player will be ejected and returned to their character if they tap the gadget icon again, move a certain distance away, or reload the area. While playing as Sorush, most menus are still accessible, but the player cannot switch characters, adjust Party Setup, or use/equip/unequip other gadgets.
While controlling Sorush, the player can fly in any direction, use the Accelerate skill to sprint, or use the Interact skill to channel the power of Khvarena. Some puzzles and objects can only be interacted with while controlling Sorush and/or using her ability to channel Khvarena (see list below).
Holding her Interact skill will cause Sorush to stay still and continuously channel the power of Khvarena in a small AoE (e.g., to suppress Gray Crystal barriers). The player will be returned to their character, which can then be controlled as usual, and Sorush will be marked on the map by the
icon. Sorush will remain in this state even if the gadget is unequipped and re-equipped, but will stop if the player begins controlling her again, leaves her range, or reloads the area.
Sorush has her own HP bar, which scales with Condition missing. She can be damaged by environmental hazards, but enemies will not notice or attack her. Conversely, Sorush cannot deal damage to enemies. Sorush can be healed by Statues of The Seven, but not by consuming Food.

Tutorial
- Sorush, Bloomguard of the Pari
Pari are very mysterious creatures. And as the "Bloomguard" of her race, Sorush can replace your characters to fly and move.
When Sorush is in flight, your character will stay in place to await her return.
While in flight, Sorush can ascend or descend, and can use the Accelerate skill to increase her flight speed.
Sorush cannot be too far from your character, though. A Bloomguard should never abandon others, after all.
Sorush can call upon the special energies within items around which mysterious mayflies dance.
Press Sorush's Interact skill to allow her to use her power to guide the might of Khvarena.
Hold her Interact skill to cause her to stop and continuously channel Khvarena's might. During this time, you can control your character freely.

Trivia
- Sorush's Accelerate skill consumes Stamina at a slower rate than a Player Character's Sprint.
- NPCs turn their heads to follow Sorush, but will not interact.
- Sorush's Interact skill can affect nearby objects:
- Certain enemies will stop their idle animations
- Treasure Hoarders that are sitting or lying down get up and walk around
- Dancing Hilichurls stop dancing
- Eremite Floral Ring-Dancer stops swinging
- Destroys fragile objects, i.e., cuts down shrubbery but cannot break wooden boxes
- Startles Wildlife (will not notice her until she uses her skill)
- Alerts Fatui Skirmishers (will show "!"), though they will not attack. Curiously, no other Enemy type in the Girdle of the Sands reacts this way.
- Certain enemies will stop their idle animations
- The achievements When the Red Scarf Transforms Into a Bird in Flight..., Soaring in the Skies of Sary-Ozek, and Whose Descendant Are You, and What's Your Name? may be references to the novel The Day Lasts More Than a Hundred Years. Set in Sary-Ozek, it features a plotline where a mother tries to remind her brainwashed, enslaved son of his heritage, but is ultimately killed by him. Her white headscarf then turns into a white bird, which forever soars the skies of Sary-Ozek, echoing her words.
Etymology
- Sraosha (Avestan: 𐬯𐬭𐬀𐬊𐬴𐬀) is the Zoroastrian yazata of "Conscience" and "Observance", which is also the literal meaning of her name. It appears as Sorush (Persian: سروش Sorūsh) in New Persian.
