Stellar Blackbody is a type of extraterrestrial lifeform discovered by Ungien during the Moongazer expedition. After coming into contact with it, Ungien fused with the organism and was transformed into an amorphous entity designated Containment Object-1.^[1][2]

Maagees-Geti identified the Stellar Blackbody as an information-bearing organism that communicates through vibrations. During her research, she extracted a black filamentous substance from Containment Object-1, naming it blackbody matter. This substance could fuse with living organisms, respond strongly to Archaeolune Energy, and possessed reflective properties^[1][3] that later became the basis of Project Lunar Veil, a large-scale concealment veil spearheaded by Maagees-Geti's student, Lusalim.^[4]

The messages transmitted by the Stellar Blackbody originated from Throgg, an alien civilization that had been destroyed by a force they described as "pitch-black annihilation." They sent this warning across the stars in the hope that another civilization would receive it, reminding them that they were not alone in the universe and urging them to beware of the approaching darkness.^[5]

The dragons, whose civilization was among those that received the Stellar Blackbody's message, used it as the foundation for their own research. Inspired by the warning, they began transmitting their own signals into deep space, hoping that another civilization would one day receive them and respond, just as they once had.^[5][6] One of these transmissions was eventually received by the Traveler and their Sibling, though much of the original message had been lost over time. Moved by the knowledge that an intelligent civilization was reaching out into the cosmos as a beacon of hope, the Traveler sent a reply expressing their wish to one day visit Teyvat.^[6]
