Yusupov (Russian: Юсупов Yusupov) is a quest-exclusive NPC who serves as the secondary antagonist of Yelan's Story Quest, Umbrabilis Orchis Chapter: Act I - Calculated Gambit. He was a Snezhnayan ambassador dispatched to Liyue.
Profile
Yusupov secretly sought to expand the Fatui's influence in Liyue by convincing Zhiyi to slowly poison Uncle Tian, the Liyue Qixing's current Tianshu, and have Zhiyi appointed as his successor. This would give the Fatui a pawn inside the Qixing, with Yusupov exploiting Zhiyi's low self-esteem and his deed of poisoning his mentor as leverage against the man. However, Uncle Tian and Yelan grew suspicious about Zhiyi and the circumstances behind Uncle Tian's weakening condition.
During the events of Calculated Gambit, Yelan uncovers the scheme and baits out Yusupov by announcing Zhiyi's selection. Yusupov, drunk on victory, fails to notice that he has been tailed to his victory celebration with Zhiyi. He also fails to notice that Zhiyi and his own second-in-command, Theofan, have been plotting to eliminate him for a long time. In the depths of Qingxu Pool, Zhiyi poisons Yusupov, intenting to cut ties with the Fatui and bury all evidence of their collusion.
Having acquired the evidence they need, Yelan and the Millelith reveal themselves and arrest the two conspirators. Though Yusupov is not mentioned again, he was implicitly abandoned to his fate — "Regrator" Pantalone only bothered to extract Theofan and the remaining evidence to prevent Yelan from making use of them.
Appearance
Yusupov takes the appearance of a tall, middle-aged man with white hair and blue eyes. He wears the traditional Snezhnayan outfit consisting of a black shirt and green ascot alongside a pair of brown leather gloves and gray coat.
