Velite

Last updated 2026-09-07

Velite is an NPC on Astropolis, located in Lodestar Tower. He first appeared in the Companion Mission Night of Universal Hallucinations.

Profile

Velite is a worker of the IPC's Marketing Development Department, now working for Director Jade.[3] When he was younger, he wanted to be a pilot and explore the universe in a grand spaceship. However, his parents told him that he'd have to work for the IPC to make enough money to fulfill his dreams. Eventually, he gave up his dream of being a pilot and joined the IPC instead.[1]

In Night of Universal Hallucinations, he and Argenti board the Astral Express after accidentally colliding with it. He resides with the Astral Express Crew while they remove the Swarm infestation. When Argenti reveals his plan to jump out of the Express and stab the Giant Sting, Velite offers to go with him, but Argenti insists that he remain on the Express. Velite, concerned for Argenti's fate, tells him not to die and that he'll be waiting for him to come back.[1]

Shortly after the Express is ejected out of the Giant Sting's stomach, Velite departs. He ends up reuniting with Argenti at some point in the future. It turned out that the last True Sting was hiding inside Velite's armor and giving him hallucinations of piloting the "One and Only". After Argenti defeats the insect, Velite gives up on the idea of using Argenti as an IPC spokesperson, and decides to pursue his old dream of being a pilot.[1]

Dialogue

(First interaction)
Velite: Well, well, if it isn't (Trailblazer)! Long time no see... Perfect timing. Come on, do that thing you're best at and give me a little pep talk!
Icon Dialogue Arrow Uh, and you are...?
Velite: I'm Velite. The lowly IPC office drone who got dragged onto this ride by Argenti. A total extra!
Icon Dialogue Arrow Well, if it isn't Argenti's friend from the IPC!
Velite: ...That's right, you still remember me. How surprising.
Icon Dialogue Exit Hold on, I'm a little busy right now.
Velite: Alright, alright, whenever you're free then! Just so you know, I've been holding in a stockpile of grievances from being treated unjustly.
(Continue to dialogue options below)
Velite: After the True Sting incident, didn't I say I'd help that Knight of Beauty do some promotional work for the IPC?
Velite: I headed to Astropolis to apply for a screenwriter internship to make good on my promise and scored a spot on a film project based on the Knights of Beauty!
Icon Dialogue Arrow Whoa, you're really that lucky?
Velite: Sounds pretty smooth sailing so far, right? Well, it went absolutely bonkers next!
Icon Dialogue Arrow I'm guessing that's when things went sideways.
Velite: Yeah, and that's when things got absolutely bonkers.
Icon Dialogue Arrow Mixing dreams with your job is a recipe for disaster.
Velite: Like I had any say in the matter! And then things got absolutely bonkers.
Velite: They were all over me in the interview, promising a crucial role to anyone who'd rubbed shoulders with a real Knight of Beauty. Who knew a crew this big would end up leaning entirely on an intern for ideas!
Velite: The entire project was greenlit on a complete whim just because the producer felt some celebrity "looked like a Knight of Beauty." Not only was there not a single official screenwriter on the crew, but they also kept nitpicking everything I wrote without end.
Velite: "This plot lacks engagement," "that trope is too cliché," "don't look for realism in fiction"...
Velite: Give me a break! I'm just an intern writer with zero industry experience. How can a publicity media project with an investment of tens of millions of credits be so reckless with its most crucial script?
Velite: When I complained about it out loud, the director kicked me right out the door and told me if I don't come back with an interesting draft, I shouldn't bother coming back at all...
Velite: ...You tell me, who runs a professional operation like such a total clown show?

(Subsequent interactions)
Velite: The director kicked me out to stand in the hallway and told me if I don't come back with an interesting draft, I shouldn't bother coming back at all...
Velite: ...You tell me, who runs a professional operation like such a total clown show?
Icon Dialogue Talk Let's have a chat...
Velite: Ugh, there's so much to unpack, I honestly don't even know where to start. Why don't you do the honors and ask away!
Icon Dialogue Talk How come you're the only writer on the crew?
Velite: ...Rumor has it that all the previous screenwriters resigned. Or maybe they got sacked, who knows?
Velite: The director even thought about using AI software to write the script, but the cheap software pumped out absolute slop, and they couldn't afford the actually competent ones.
Velite: It's not like the IPC's "cost-reduction and efficiency-enhancement" campaign started yesterday, and squeezing an intern dry is hardly breaking news. To finish this Knights of Beauty blockbuster and become a wealthy, famous star screenwriter, I've long been prepared to suffer!
Velite: ...But man, this work is brutal.
Icon Dialogue Talk Does the director not have any ideas of his own?
Velite: Who knows? Half the stuff he says goes right over my head: McGaffin, red salmon, and all that...
Velite: It sounds super professional, but he probably only knows "which tropes sell well" without having a single clue how to actually string them together. He keeps forcing me to stitch completely unrelated plot points together... it's driving me insane.
Velite: With my shallow experience, I could rack my brain until it explodes and still never figure out how to meet every single requirement at once. Seriously, he's supposed to be more professional than me anyway, so why can't he just roll up his sleeves and do it himself?
Velite: Strictly from a business perspective, the commercial selling points the director and producer pitched are actually viable. I just have no idea how to actually shape them into a concrete story... Ugh, so frustrating.
Icon Dialogue Talk Surprised they haven't fired you yet.
Velite: ...Probably because too many people were fired or left before me? They might also feel like it's impossible to find another corporate drone as obedient as I am.
Velite: At least I'm willing to try my best to satisfy all their bizarre whims. Believe it or not, this clown show literally cannot function without me, haha!
Velite: *sigh* ...I guess that's the only thing left that I can even laugh about.
Icon Dialogue Talk How about you tell me what you originally had in mind?
Velite: My original idea? Embarrassingly simple. Just write down everything we went through, beat for beat, like some kind of semi-documentary.
Velite: But the director said nobody watches documentaries. Besides, if they filmed it the way I described, you wouldn't even know who the main character is. The Knight of Beauty, or the Nameless?
Velite: From a business standpoint, it does make sense... but after all that "reconstructing" he suggested, I don't even know what I'm writing anymore...
Velite: Ugh, this is taking all the "Beauty" out of this world!
Icon Dialogue Exit Let's catch up another time.
Velite: Talk later! That little rant actually made me feel a bit better. Alright, back to brainstorming.
