Dialogue

Icon Dialogue Event Complete "Dream Abyss Battle (III)" & "Dream Abyss Battle (IV)"

Having witnessed Yidhari's father's final farewell, there's no time to settle emotions before being surrounded by enemies born from Yidhari's subconscious. Deal with them first.
(After completing Dream Abyss Battle (IV))
Komano Manato: All done, let's keep moving!
Lucia: Hold up, that big guy's voice is getting closer... Did it really catch up to us?
Komano Manato: We took too long fighting those small Ethereals... Damn it, guess we'll have to face them head-on!
Lucia: Hmm, better not. I feel like Tiny Tiki's tiny frame might shatter at the slightest touch...
Komano Manato: Ugh, what a headache. If only our attacks actually did something.
Icon Dialogue Talk Let's move forward and find a way out.
(‍BelleBelle / WiseWise‍), connected from outside the dream, agrees: "Yeah. There should be an area up ahead with stable brainwaves. I can try setting up a dream exit there."
Lucia: Let's get moving! Once we wake up Yidhari, our mission will be complete.
Icon Dialogue Event Tracked Reach the dream exit with everyone

You're finally nearing the area where a dream exit can appear, but the Dead End Butcher is closing in. Hurry and get Yidhari out of the dream!
(Idle)
Komano Manato: Get going! I'll cover everyone if anything goes wrong!
(Talk to Yidhari, optional)
Lucia: Yidhari, you okay? Let's get moving!
Yidhari: ...Dad...
Yidhari: Sorry... I...
Lucia: No worries, no need to apologize. Keep pushing forward, let's go!
(Move ahead)
(ProtagonistProtagonist): Let's go take a look!
(Reach the marked location)
Approaching Roar: (The Dead End Butcher's roar gradually approaches from afar)

Sacrifice

Special Event
"Sacrifice"

Story Description: At the dream's exit, Yidhari recalls how her mother sacrificed herself to save her. Overwhelmed with grief, she leaves her companions to keep them from harm, facing the Dead End Butcher alone.

Lucia: Why is the Dead End Butcher still closing in? I think I can already see its shadow! Proxy! Do you see a way out?
(SiblingSibling): (‍WiseWise / BelleBelle‍), the area up ahead on the right is where her brainwave signals are stable. I might be able to create an exit from the dream, but it'll take some time.
Icon Dialogue Talk But time is exactly what we don't have right now.
(ProtagonistProtagonist): Uh... I hate to say this... but time is exactly what we don't have right now...
The heavy footsteps of the Dead End Butcher echo from the left side of the road, and its roars gradually grow clearer.
Komano Manato: Lucia, summon all the Ethereals you can command! With everyone here, we should be able to hold this guy off for a while!
Lucia: Alright! Yidhari, you head to the stable area with the Proxy... Yidhari?
Icon Dialogue Talk What's wrong? Yidhari?
(ProtagonistProtagonist): Yidhari? What's wrong? Let's head to the stable area first!
Yidhari: I... remember this place...
Yidhari: My mother took me along the path that my father gave his life to find, all the way to the edge of the Hollow.
Yidhari: But having me with her slowed her down. The fissure was collapsing, too narrow for an adult to pass through...
Yidhari: And the Dead End Butcher was getting closer and closer, with its heavy footsteps and labored breathing...
Yidhari: As we were walking, she suddenly said she couldn't go any further. She told me to head for the fissure in the distance on my own and promised she'd be right behind me.
Yidhari: I followed her instructions... Walking on and on... Her encouraging words echoed behind me.
Yidhari: When I reached the fissure and turned back, I realized... she wasn't behind me. She was standing in front of the Dead End Butcher, leading it away in the opposite direction...
The heavy footsteps and roars of the Dead End Butcher echo again from the left side of the road.
Icon Dialogue Talk Comfort Yidhari
(ProtagonistProtagonist): Yidhari, I'm sorry you had to go through this. But we need to leave this dream and wake up... If the Dead End Butcher catches us, we might never make it out.
(SiblingSibling): Hold on, (‍WiseWise / BelleBelle‍), I'm speeding things up, but it'll still take some time to establish a stable exit...
Yidhari: Sorry, everyone...
Yidhari suddenly charges toward the Dead End Butcher, swinging the hammer in her hand to strike the ceiling. The already damaged concrete falls, blocking the way between you and Yidhari.
Yidhari: I remember now... I fainted because I saw that ticket. Unable to face the truth, I chose to forget it all over again.
Yidhari: But none of this should be your burden, and you shouldn't have to face these dangers. Wake up. The path ahead is mine to walk alone...

Icon Dialogue Event Tracked Confront the Dead End Butcher and buy some time

Heartbroken, Yidhari decides not to endanger her companions any longer. She separates herself from the group to face the Dead End Butcher alone, buying time for everyone to escape.
Komano Manato: Hold on, Yidhari! That monster's not something you should handle alone!
(ProtagonistProtagonist): Calm down! (‍There's no need for you to face this alone! There's no need for you to face this alone! / You don't need to face this alone. You don't need to face this alone.‍)
Lucia: Yeah, Hari! Didn't we promise to wake up together?
Yidhari: Thank you. Thank you all...
(Face the Dead End Butcher)
The Dead End Butcher brought his weapon down on Yidhari. Still lost in her parents' tragedy, she failed to block in time and was slammed heavily to the ground.
All that was left was an endless blur of darkness and unconsciousness...
Icon Dialogue Event Tracked Revisit the past: visit Grandpa Gu

The Dead End Butcher's strike slammed into Yidhari, and in a daze, she seemed to enter a special area. The place was exactly like a scene from her memories, and ahead, Grandpa Gu seemed to have something for her.
(Ongoing)
Yidhari: When I was little, I hardly saw my parents. But I knew their research was important, so I didn't want to disturb them.
(Approach Grandpa Gu)
Yidhari: When I was ten, on my mom's birthday. I asked Grandpa Gu next door to help me find a gift for her.
Grandpa Gu: Here! Isn't this the videotape you wanted?! "Enter the Ether"!
Grandpa Gu: Took me a ton of favors to track this down! That Angel, she sure is into some obscure movies...
Grandpa Gu: Alright, their ship is about to leave. Hurry! Go give this gift to your mom!
Icon Dialogue Event Tracked Revisit the past: give the gift to Mom

Memories flash by like a revolving lantern. Yidhari's parents' ship is about to set sail. Find them and give the gift to her mom.
(Ongoing)
Yidhari: But when I tried to board the ship to give it to her, I was stopped because I didn't have a ticket.
Yidhari: I could only shout out to them from the dock, but the blaring horns drowned out my shouts.
(Approach Yidhari's parents)
Wayland Murphy: What's on your mind? Still can't let go of that research?
Angel Murphy: I... I'm not sure if this is the right thing to do... Little Hari is such an intelligent child...
Angel Murphy: I think we might have to give up. Seeing Yidhari like this breaks my heart.
Wayland Murphy: Dear, giving up can be a solution too. We deserve a better life.
Angel Murphy: You don't blame me? Creating a cure so that people don't have to fear the Hollows any longer — isn't that your lifelong dream?
Wayland Murphy: My lifelong dream? From the moment little Hari was born, my dream has only ever been you and her.
Icon Dialogue Event Tracked Revisit the past: ask Grandpa Gu for help

Unexpectedly, the gift wasn't successfully delivered to Mom because of the port boy's interference. For Mom's birthday, ask Grandpa Gu to take you to the Darkwater Research Center.
(Ongoing)
Yidhari: By the time Grandpa Gu noticed and came to help, the ship my parents were on, The Angel, had already departed.
(Approach Grandpa Gu)
Grandpa Gu: You blockhead! Why'd you stop Murphy's girl from giving her mom her birthday present?
Grandpa Gu: And now look! The ship's gone! No birthday anymore!
Grandpa Gu: You're always talking about loyalty. What kind of loyalty is bullying the child of someone who helped us, huh?!
Grandpa Gu: Okay, okay, don't cry, Hari. Here, take this ticket. Grandpa Gu'll take you on the next ship to find your mom.
Port Boy: I don't think that's a good idea, Mr. Gu. What if Boss Morgan finds out...
Grandpa Gu: This ticket's from Old Morgan! He told me to give it to her! You... blockhead!!
Icon Dialogue Event Tracked Revisit the past: learn the story of the base

Grandpa Gu safely delivered Yidhari to her father at the Darkwater Research Center, but unexpectedly, the Hollow suddenly expanded, engulfing the facility. Go see what's really happening inside the base.
(Ongoing)
Yidhari: Grandpa Gu got me safely to my father at Darkwater Research Center. Just after he left, the Outer Ring Hollow expanded.
Yidhari: I was too young and had zero aptitude for Ether. The Ether particles in the air corrupted me fast...
(Approach Yidhari's parents)
Yidhari: Father brought me back to the lab to treat me.
Yidhari: But the corruption had gone too far. Even my parents, experts in anti-Corruption medicine, couldn't stop it.
Angel Murphy: Considering the physical strain on the subject, we've suspended the use of primary medication.
Angel Murphy: The subject is projected to develop a core in approximately 12 hours, and will be fully corrupted into an Ethereal within 18 hours...
Angel Murphy: Experiment time, 27 hours, 30 minutes. Successfully injected Ether resistance booster AVX prototype 1-1.
Angel Murphy: Experiment time, 29 hours, six minutes. Ether concentration in blood dropped significantly, but side effects include hallucinations, both visual and auditory.
Wayland Murphy: Angel, you gave... Hari...
Angel Murphy: I'm sorry, Wayland. I had to try. I have to save Hari...
Yidhari: After receiving the prototype injections, I began to see a whole new world.
Yidhari: Strange people appeared before me, reenacting past scenes over and over again, voices clamoring all at once.
Angel Murphy: The side effects are still severe. Hari just threw up again... We might not be able to leave yet...
Wayland Murphy: Hmm... then you stay and take care of Hari.
Wayland Murphy: I'll go scout ahead. We have to find a way out of this Hollow first.
Angel Murphy: Wait — what are you doing? Didn't the higher-ups take all the protective equipment?
Wayland Murphy: Don't worry. I'll manage. If I hadn't switched majors chasing you, I'd already be a Proxy by now.
Icon Dialogue Event Tracked Revisit the past: say goodbye to Dad

Yidhari's father went out to scout an escape route. Yidhari and her mother have set out along the path he sent. Go to their meeting point.
(Ongoing)
Yidhari: When I finally recovered enough to walk, my father had already sent us the extraction route, just like he had promised.
Yidhari: But when my mom and I reached the rendezvous point, he wasn't there...
(Approach the walkie-talkie)
Wayland Murphy: I'm sorry, Angel, but I have to break my promise...
Wayland Murphy: I'm just a regular guy with no protective gear, making it this far on foot is already pushing it...
Wayland Murphy: Being a Proxy sure isn't easy...
Angel Murphy: Wayland...
Wayland Murphy: Dear... consider this route my birthday gift to you... Promise me, you'll make sure to get her out...
Wayland Murphy: Hari, be sure to listen to your mom in the future. And if you miss Dad, just...
Icon Dialogue Event Tracked Revisit the past: try to escape from the Hollow

With no time to mourn her father, her mother took Yidhari along the route he had sent toward the exit. The Dead End Butcher was closing in, so they had to escape the Hollow quickly!
(Ongoing)
Yidhari: We had no time to grieve. My mother took me along the route Father sent us, to the exit.
Yidhari: But what got to the exit faster were the terrifying footsteps of the Dead End Butcher...
(Approach Angel)
Angel Murphy: Hari, from here on, you take the lead. Mommy's tired. The exit's just ahead. Just keep walking that way...
Angel Murphy: Don't worry. Of course I'll go with you. I'm just too tired to keep up at your pace...
Yidhari: I really thought she was just tired, so I walked ahead, as she told me to, to the exit.
Angel Murphy: Go on, my girl. Be brave. Mommy's right behind you...
Yidhari: But when I turned back, I saw she was walking the other way, straight toward the Dead End Butcher...
Icon Dialogue Event Tracked Go and say the final goodbye to Mom

After witnessing her mother's sacrifice, a distraught Yidhari pressed on. In a warm, glowing area, a familiar figure appeared to be waiting for her.
(Ongoing)
Wayland Murphy: From the moment little Hari was born, my dream has only ever been you and her.
Angel Murphy: Please, Hari. Mommy is begging you...
(Talk to Angel)

Rebirth

Special Event
"Rebirth"

Story Description: At the end of a dream filled with memories of the past, Hari meets her mother once again. Her mother is moved by how much Hari has grown over the years, encouraging her not to run away and to help her companions escape this nightmare.

Angel Murphy: You're here, Hari. You've grown so much.
Yidhari: M—Mommy...
Angel Murphy: I'm sure you have many questions. Like why your dad and I were never home when you were little... Why we couldn't be like other parents and watch you grow up...
Yidhari: ...
Angel Murphy: Your father and I were devoted to finding a way for humans to no longer fear the Hollow. TOPS told us that if we succeeded, the medicine we developed could change the world.
Angel Murphy: That's how we ended up at Darkwater Research Center. We were only allowed to visit you a few times each month...
Angel Murphy: As the research went on, we realized it was all serving the higher-ups' personal agendas. Everything we did, every bit of effort, was just to make their soldiers stronger...
Angel Murphy: I'm so sorry... for missing out on so much of your childhood for something like that. It must have been hard... being on your own all these years.
Yidhari: No, mom. Grandpa Gu has always taken good care of me. I've been eating well, not being picky, and I've grown taller...
Yidhari: I've also been studying hard, and I became a Proxy, helping many people in the Hollow...
Angel Murphy: That's wonderful. Looks like our little Hari has grown into the person we hoped she'd become. Your dad would've been so proud.
In the distance, the sounds of fighting and the roar of the Dead End Butcher echo faintly, like they're coming from outside the dream...
Angel Murphy: It's almost time... I think you should get going now...
Yidhari: Please... can't I stay here with you? I keep dreaming that you and dad come home, but every time I wake up, I'm still all alone... I don't want to be apart from you again...
A few more shouts echo in the distance, and the words became clearer...

(ProtagonistProtagonist): How are things on your end? Has Yidhari woken up?
Lucia: Not yet, but there's some response. How can someone who's already fainted faint again in their own dream? This doesn't make any sense!
Komano Manato: You're one to talk! Commanding hordes of Ethereals in someone else's dream!

Angel Murphy: Listen. Your friends are doing everything they can to wake you up.
Angel Murphy: You're not alone anymore, and that puts my mind at ease. Besides, I think they need you more than your father and I do now.
Yidhari: Is there really no way for me to stay here?
Angel Murphy: It's okay, my little Hari is a Proxy now. You'll lead the way for others when they're lost, won't you?
Angel Murphy: Don't dwell on the past behind you. There's still more to see up ahead. So go on, be brave, my child.
Yidhari: Mommy...
Yidhari: ...Will we meet again?
Angel Murphy: Yes, Hari, we will. One day, we'll meet again in a place free of darkness.

Icon Dialogue Event Tracked Interact with the fissure to exit the illusion

At the end of a dream where past memories gather, a fissure symbolizing rebirth quietly waits in the distance. With her parents' encouraging words, step into the new beginning.
Wayland Murphy: Hari, be sure to listen to your mom in the future. And if you miss Dad, just...
Angel Murphy: Go on, my girl. Be brave. Mommy's right behind you...
(Face the Dead End Butcher)
