Daozi

Daozi is a quest-exclusive NPC who appears in the World Quest Long Live Life in Series A Long Day in the Mountains: Chapter 1 - Paradise.

Profile

Daozi, also known as Yunlai Daoxuan, is a painter from Liyue and one of the "Uplifted," people chosen to be preserved as living memories in the Temple of Space. After being uplifted to the Temple of Space he resided at Luyang Academy, where he coached Kanou on his Liyue landscape paintings.^[1]

When Raumhilda arrived at the academy, Daozi and Bosch began teaching her how to paint. She eventually produced a still life of watermelons in a basket. Sometime later, Daozi was transformed into an ink blot and trapped in layers of pictures by Melanta after she descended into madness.^[1]

During the World Quest Long Live Life in Series A Long Day in the Mountains: Chapter 1 - Paradise, the Traveler and Paimon free Daozi and all the people of Luyang Academy.

Appearance

Daozi is a tall, fair-skinned older man with combed-back, gray hair and brown eyes. He wears traditional Liyue attire consisting of a long, layered teal robe adorned with a branch pattern and golden details, paired with black shoes.

Trivia

• He is also called Daoxuan.^[1] Both Daozi and Daoxuan refer to the Chinese painter of the Tang dynasty, Wu Daozi.
