Diderot

Last updated 2026-06-28

Diderot is an event-exclusive NPC who appeared in the Event Tracing Vanishing Trails.

Profile

Diderot is a clerk from Fontaine. Although Diderot was originally uninvolved in criminal activity, he encountered financial issues. In order to obtain the funds required to pay for his wife's medical treatment, he accepted a job from the Dark Financier to participate in an auction held at Hotel Debord. His role was to buy the goods falsely branded as expensive collector's items for the purposes of Mora-laundering to prevent them from being identified and traced back to the masterminds.

As a Discreet Collector in the auction, Diderot wore a special tea aficionado lapel pin and bid moderately for the most valuable pieces. His nervous and unusual behavior allowed Yelan to identify him as a suspect. Due to the Traveler's and Yelan's interference, he lost the bid. To convince Diderot to betray the Dark Financier, Yelan offered him twice the pay and Fonck, an officer of the Maison Gardiennage, posed as a hitman sent to silence him in case he failed.

As the Dark Financier was cautious, Diderot rarely interacted with him, only meeting him to pick up his 3 million Mora advance, to discuss the auction plan, and to receive the funds for bidding. However, he knew of a method to request an emergency meeting. After helping Yelan and the Traveler lure the Dark Financier into a trap, he was turned over to the Maison Gardiennage for sentencing. Yelan affirmed that he would likely get a lighter sentence for his cooperation.

Appearance

He has short brown hair and a mustache. He wears a green double-breasted coat with a floral lapel pin.
