Enghiene

Last updated 2026-07-29

Enghiene is an event-exclusive NPC who first appeared in the event Lil' Fungi's Fun-Tastic Fiesta.

Profile

Prior to her retirement, Enghiene was a Special Security and Surveillance Patrol officer and a veteran member of the Gardes. Enghiene was also Turenna's drillmaster before the latter joined the Special Patrol.[1]

During the Event Lil' Fungi's Fun-Tastic Fiesta, she took over Turenna's duty to watch over the Lil' Fungi's Fun-Tastic Fiesta preview event after Turenna received new orders from the Special Patrol. She enjoyed the game and fell in love with the Fungi, especially Bongo-Head and Kindlejoy, because of their similar characteristics to Tidalga.

During the Event Dance of Resolute Will, she confronted Costentin for unauthorized investigation of the domain he found and for not declaring his use of weapons to the Maison Gardiennage. She took him to the Maison Gardiennage to issue him a verbal warning.

During the Event Invasive Fish Wrangler, she arrested the supplier behind The Unchained following advice from Jala.

During the Event Final Long-Range Sightlines, she revealed she was apparently getting on in age, and that the event was her final assignment before retirement. The immediate following Event, Dance Dance Easy-Breezy Disco, revealed that she had worked in the Maison Gardiennage for the past 150 years. She celebrated her retirement with her sisters in Natlan.

Appearance

Enghiene is a blue Melusine with blue-gray hair and half-lidded purple eyes. She wears the Melusine-variant of the standard Garde uniform — a cobalt blue uniform with golden adornments.

Event Dialogue

Lil' Fungi's Fun-Tastic Fiesta

Available after completing the quest Fungi Are Not Tidalga!, but before completing the event stage Great Boar King! Freezing Impact!.

Enghiene: Hmm, will these soft, bouncy, smooth, squishy Fungi like Tidalga?
Icon Dialogue Lil' Fungi's Fun-Tastic Fiesta Forget about that for now! Let's have another game!
Enghiene: Fine, bring it on!
Icon Dialogue Talk White Keep your Tidalga and dream on!
Enghiene: The Fungi haven't even tried it yet! How can you be so sure they won't like it?

Operation Downpour Simulation

Dialogue Set #1

Available after completing Operation Downpour Simulation (Quest), but before completing Thinking Outside Every Box...

Enghiene: *sigh* Whenever I think about the new recruits making the same mistakes Turenna made when she was young... It just makes me even more determined to make them practice more. Failure is the mother of success, after all!
Icon Dialogue Talk White What's up with Turenna and the newbies?
Enghiene: *sigh* They spent far too long obsessing over equipment prep and individual combat skills.
Enghiene: Experimenting with musket properties, honing marksmanship, looking for better uniforms, headgear, and vests... It's not wrong to pay attention to these, but once it comes at the cost of everything else...
Enghiene: Every member of the Maison Gardiennage values teamwork. Aside from Captain Chevreuse, who's in a class all of her own, a lone musketeer cannot hope to handle complex tasks singlehandedly.
Enghiene: For example, no matter how well a musketeer has honed their marksmanship, or how good their equipment, they can only attack in one direction when breaking into a room. That leaves them open to retaliation from every other angle...
Enghiene: On the other hand, if you coordinate with your squad members, each one of you can cover a different area of a room during an assault. Even if your guns aren't the best, your rate of success is dramatically increased.
Enghiene: Turenna enjoys providing long-distance support, but the logic is the same. A sniper who works alone will quickly be spotted by the enemy, and they'll fan out to avoid her line of sight.
Enghiene: Worse, if they return suppressive fire, she'll be outnumbered and outgunned. And that's not even getting into how difficult it'd be to get out alive...
Enghiene: Now that Turenna's gotten some real field experience, she'll get her priorities straight. It'll only be a matter of time until the rest of the new blood follows suit.
Icon Dialogue Talk White That makes sense...
Icon Dialogue Talk White Reality is often stranger than movies.
Enghiene: Which is to say, this wargame has been a valuable experience.
Enghiene: Although it may seem like neither side used the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol's equipment or combat tactics, the underlying logic behind their actions bears some similarities.
Enghiene: Confirming one's initial position, assessing the situation, planning the approach and charting out an appropriate offensive strategy... Build upon these, and your chances of making mistakes in real combat scenarios will be greatly reduced!
Icon Dialogue Talk White Seems like you've known Turenna a long time.
Enghiene: Has it been that long? Maybe about four to five years...
Enghiene: Wait a sec, four to five years already!? I've been so preoccupied with work... How time flies.
Enghiene: Back then, Turenna was calling herself a rookie, all so she could push the teaching of actual rookies onto me...
Enghiene: The cheek! I wonder if it was all just an elaborate ploy to evade her responsibilities...!
Icon Dialogue Talk White Perhaps she was just being humble.
Icon Dialogue Talk White She doesn't seem like the type to slack off...
Enghiene: Hmm... I suppose that's just how she is. She looks up to others, and keeps her head down. She lacks confidence when dealing with new recruits...
Enghiene: But that won't do! After all, she's now represented the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol in this joint wargame, so she has to be more confident, act like the veteran she is, and impart her valuable knowledge!
Enghiene: I'll have a good chat with her later!
Icon Dialogue Talk White Good luck whipping the new recruits into shape!
Enghiene: Don't worry, you won't have to tell me twice. I'm going to roll up my sleeves and show them the true meaning of discipline!

Dialogue Set #2

Available after completing Thinking Outside Every Box...

Enghiene: Turenna! Through this wargame... no, through all your years of training, you've truly come into your own as a member of the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol.
Enghiene: It's time for you to teach the new recruits.
Turenna: M—Me...? Wow, um, I'll have to prepare myself mentally...
Enghiene: Prepare yourself well! Someday, you'll be their drillmaster.
Enghiene: Yes, you, Turenna! You're well-versed in both combat and training. You've arrested a two-digit number of criminals, taken down a four-digit number of monsters, and you have a grand total of seven service medals to your name...
Enghiene: You don't have to show off, but be sure to keep your recruits in line, and keep them working hard!
Turenna: Knocking criminals out and hunting monsters is nothing compared to dealing with my coworkers...
Turenna: Um... In any case, I'll do my best!

Final Long-Range Sightlines

Available after completing Sightlines and Camera Tricks, but before completing Flower, Feathers, and Bullets.

Turenna: Really not going to play another round, Instructor?
Enghiene: I've already got my best score on the board. You saw — I'm getting a bit too old for this. Up against this fancy new wargame, the most I can do is scrape by with a passing grade...
Turenna: But the passing grade is sixty percent of Captain Chevreuse's score! Outside of you, everybody else flunked, so where's the "too old" coming from...
Icon Dialogue Talk White (Keep listening...)
Turenna: If you don't shoot now, I'll never see you holding a musket again.
Turenna: I didn't even feel it coming on. How did the time go by so quickly...
Turenna: *sob*... *sniff*...
Enghiene: Eh? What're you crying for, kiddo?
Enghiene: I'm just retiring. It's not like we'll never see each other again!
Enghiene: You want to see me, easy enough — pick a place, treat me to dinner once a week.
Turenna: Yes, yes, yes — not just buttered Tidalga, you can pick the Hotel Debord for all I care!
Turenna: But... maybe not every week... how about once a month?
Enghiene: Whatever. Whatever you arrange, I can take.
Enghiene: But seriously, though... from now on, all the new recruits we've got are yours.
Enghiene: Keep a good eye on Marine and Roxane — make sure they don't lose themselves in the work.
Enghiene: And don't let the recruits come up short of where you were back in the day. The moment any of them slacks off, give 'em a swift kick in the rear!
Turenna: I will! A swift kick in the rear!
Enghiene: Good. My sisters are calling me down to Natlan for a vacation. I might be out of Fontaine for a couple of months...
Enghiene: And when I'm back from vacation, I'll be coming to inspect your results!
Turenna: I won't let you down, Instructor!
Icon Dialogue Talk White (Maybe leave them to chat alone...)
