Windrest Peak...
- "Climb the hill, climb the hill... Well, I climbed the hill but I still can't find the sanatorium."
Dialogue
- Mann: Climb the hill, climb the hill... Well, there's no sanatorium to be found even if you do...
About the sanatorium on the mountain...
- Mann: It was torn down long ago.
- Mann: Ghost stories or not, there's no treasure up there. You should go home now.
- Mann: I lived there for seven years. The air was so cold that it could freeze even time and wind. Seven years passed like seven days, gone in the blink of an eye.
- Mann: But we all have to go down the mountain. Even one pushed by the wind still moves forward.
- Mann: There's nothing left to see. Nothing left to find. If you go up there and end up disappointed staring at ruins, don't blame this old man for not warning you.
Take care.
- Mann: Thank you. It's damp near the mountain. Take care of yourself.
Trivia
- Mann might be a reference to Thomas Mann, a German novelist, short story writer, social critic, philanthropist, essayist, and the 1929 Nobel Prize in Literature laureate. Notably, his seven-year stay at the sanatorium mirrors the experience of Hans Castorp, the protagonist of Thomas Mann's novel, The Magic Mountain.
- Mann's dog being named Hauptmann might be a reference to Gerhart Hauptmann, another German novelist and the 1912 Nobel Prize in Literature Laureate. Thomas Mann met Hauptmann at an Alpine resort and adapted some of Hauptmann's traits for his character Mynheer Peeperkorn in The Magic Mountain.
