Dialogue
Ask Ashveil about the situation
Mission DescriptionA detective with zero deductive reasoning and his genius monkey sleuth — what kind of bloody, gruesome case awaits them this time?
- (Interact with the crowd)
- Pineapple-Haired Detective: Yuck, this hairstyle is too basic. If I had known, I would have dyed this mess green.
- Luscious-Haired Detective: You could even throw a disco ball in there.
- Luscious-Haired Detective: Hey (bud/
little lady), you here competing for the next Tousled Detective title too? But your hair doesn't even have that deliberately messy, effortless look. Did you even spend time on it?
Are the hairstyle aficionados meeting today?
Tousled? What's that?
What are you people up to?- Luscious-Haired Detective: Auditioning, duh! No way you came here without even knowing that much?
- Hostess: Hello, everyone. Welcome to the open auditions for the next Tousled Detective! As every fan would know, Tousled Detective is a classic detective drama that has been running for several Amber Eras, and it has already gone through fifteen lead actors.
- Hostess: Not long ago, fan favorite Bob XV vanished without a word, and has yet to return.
- Hostess: But we have to uphold the principle of never missing an update. So, here we are, hosting a detective tournament in Astropolis! Whoever can solve the case of the last Touslehead's mysterious disappearance, shall inherit his title and become Bob XVI!
- Pineapple-Haired Detective: I've read through 72 detective novels cover to cover. Give me three days to crack this case and I will not disappoint.
- Luscious-Haired Detective: I've been handling cheating cases since before you were born. I'm the only choice for the next Touslehead.
- Beehive Detective: Imperator Insectorum Shampoo! Twenty years of dedication to using authentic True Sting extracts. Every Touslehead swears by it!
- Hostess: Who let this walking advertisement in here? Get out, now!
- Fluffy-Haired Detective: Tousled Detective is a television show at the end of the day. And if it's television, the story is more important than the case.
- Fluffy-Haired Detective: My story is—No, my observation tells me Oswaldo is actually a Lord Ravager. Bob XV discovered his secret and was silenced for it. Pretty grim, Astropolis!
- Ashen Detective: ...
- "Narrator": The detective ignored the squabbling before him and sank into deep thought. What he knew was that a real pro never makes promises before the assignment is done.
- Hostess: ...Haha, anyway, who will land the role as the next Tousled Detective? Stay tuned to find out!
- Hostess: The auditions are about to start! I can't wait!
- Confident Photographer: Who will be the next Tousled Detective, I wonder...
- (Interact with Ashveil)
- Ashveil: What a coincidence, (Trailblazer)! Small world!
- Ashveil: Don't tell me you're a fan of that puffy-haired Detective like Mister N?
- "Narrator": It's Tousled Detective! The live-action mystery drama for kids based on Express Navigator Touslehead Bob. It took the universe by storm after its reboot. Even Arita is an avid fan and tunes in every single week for new episodes!
The Express is part of this too?
So, Arita's quite a child at heart, huh.
Reminds me of Mr. Yang with robots.- Ashveil: To Mister N, the Tousled Detective represents a hero, just like the Daybreak Warrior on TV. But as you can see, the people auditioning today look nothing like that.
- "Narrator": I won't stand by and let them tarnish a hero's reputation. At the very least, I have to uncover the truth with my own hands.
- "Narrator": By the way, I'm dying to get the Tousled Detective's autograph.
- Ashveil: Another thing, the winner of this detective contest will receive 100,000 credits, plus a brand-new smart refrigerator!
- Ashveil: That said, we're total strangers in Astropolis. This case is like a bobbing candied apple, hard to take a firm first bite. But have you noticed?
What is it?
Quick, use Stellaron sensing!
- You stir up the strength within you, but of course, nothing happens, because Stellaron sensing isn't even a thing.
An assassin?- "Narrator": Someone's been watching us intently from a distance since we got here.
- Ashveil: (Trailblazer), could you circle them from behind? Can't let a clue go to waste when it lands right on our doorstep.
Catch the suspicious peeping tom
Mission DescriptionShadowy voyeurs, a mysterious missing detective... You have a sinking feeling that the absolute darkest side of Astropolis is about to unfold right before your eyes.
- (Interact with the unknown figure)
- You spot a ghost trying to hide and acting shifty. One glance and you know this ghost isn't the most upstanding type.
Strangeling! Prepare to die!
Hello, I'm a police officer.
What are you looking at? Let me see!- Terrified Ghost: Help, sorry, I'm just a passing anemic— Wait, ghosts can't be anemic whatever please just spare me.
- Terrified Ghost: I have an eighty-year-old mother at home and a three-year-old kid and I don't know anything so please don't kill me!
Am I really that scary?
Furblix? When did you get here?
How about starting with a normal conversation?- Terrified Ghost: Well, well! If it isn't (Trailblazer)! Great Trailblazer! I've been wronged!
Hear what this ghost has to say
- Ashveil: So you're saying Bob XV was investigating a ghost-related case, and then just... vanished?
- Terrified Ghost: That's right. Not long ago, the frontier fortification vessel Tartarion was destroyed in battle against an Irontomb fleet. Nearly 90% of its crew was killed or fatally wounded.
- Terrified Ghost: But rumors say this failure was not an unavoidable sacrifice. It was a disaster deliberately engineered by a certain department.
- Terrified Ghost: After the battle, hundreds of victims who succumbed to their injuries became ghosts and joined the Postmortem Employment Center, each receiving a gigantic hush payment.
Sounds like a conspiracy.
So many lives...
I've got it! The culprit is Oswaldo!
- Ashveil: Well, life would be a lot simpler if Oswaldo was behind every foul deed in the universe.
- Terrified Ghost: What you don't know is that Astropolis is full of ghosts like me who refuse postmortem employment. We've formed the "Upright Fiends Organization" to stand up against the IPC.
- Terrified Ghost: We wanted to use this incident as leverage to dig up dirt on the Talent Motivation Department. That's why we reached out to Mr. Bob for help. But he...
- Ashveil: In other words, you sent him to his demise, and then you lost your nerve. Now, feeling guilty, you spotted a daredevil in (Trailblazer) here, and you want to dump the whole mess on (him/
her)? - Terrified Ghost: ...I'm sorry.
- "Narrator": So, where was the last place Bob XV was seen before he went missing?
- Terrified Ghost: What's going on?
- Ashveil: Mister N is on board. We're taking the assignment.
Search for clues about the Tousled Detective
- (Aproach location and interact with Ashveil)
- Ashveil: The mall, shopping, tourists... I get it, this is probably—
Case closed already!?
Impressive as always.
You're a changed person.- Ashveil: ...
- Ashveil: Any comments, Mister N?
- "Narrator": Ashveil wouldn't stop complaining, just like Bob's sidekick, Nobby Peanut, always demanding magical gadgets to crack cases at crime scenes
- "Narrator": If he'd ever watched Tousled Detective, he'd know this is obviously the most famous "looks incredibly convoluted but actually clicks the moment you think about it anti-trope magical realism trick" from Season 1.
- Ashveil: Haha, that's exactly what I wanted to say! The "looks incredibly convoluted but actually clicks the moment you think about it anti-trope magical realism trick"!
- "Narrator": To put it in terms even Mr. Ashveil could understand, he did absolutely nothing.
- Ashveil: Mister N, just get to the point next time.
- "Narrator": Rule 19 of the Tousled Detective's Detective's Code: Clues don't disappear, they simply stay hidden. Mr. Bob must have had a reason for coming here.
- Ashveil: But I never would've guessed that this whole thing actually came from a kids' show.
- "Narrator": Besides the Interastral Peace Broadcast, it's the only channel my TV at home can even pick up.
- "Narrator": Back then, the lead actor was still Bob IV. On the day of the finale, the signal station got blown up. I could only catch the final episode years later, using the Poet's VIP account.
- Ashveil: How was it?
- "Narrator": Pretty average. Really, really average. But I couldn't stop crying. The Archer didn't know what was going on, and came over to comfort me, assuming I was crying over a breakup.
- "Narrator": I remember now! This is straight out of the Season 4 finale. The detective hid the clues in the gift shop right before dying!
How is a dead detective supposed to solve anything?
- "Narrator": Death is the only means to make way for the next generation of performers.
Pretty mid, honestly.
Now I really want to watch it myself.- "Narrator": That shop assistant might know something.
Investigate the store clerk who might know something
- (Interact with the Shop Asssitant)
- Shop Assistant: Looking for any souvenirs? If this is your first time in Astropolis, I'd recommend our newly released Aeon balloons! They're perfect for old folks back home!
- Shop Assistant: But if you've got little ones at home, a lighthouse puppet would be a good choice too.
- Ashveil: Truth be told, my kid is a huge fan of Tousled Detective. I came here partly to get him the detective's autograph. But just my luck, I chose the time of Mr. Bob's disappearance.
- Shop Assistant: Such a good person, gone just like that. His investigation probably led to some big shot, and he was silenced for it.
You think so too?
- Shop Assistant: That's just how Astropolis works, isn't it? Madam Scarred Eye, Diamond, Yan Shiluo... Who knows what kind of shady dealings those bigwigs are doing behind the scenes.
The culprit is definitely Oswaldo!
- Shop Assistant: Fair point. Brazenly taking out a major celebrity like that? Only he could do that.
A real meanie big shot.
- Shop Assistant: Exactly, absolutely awful. Not even a raise to show for it.
- Ashveil: Ugh, Mister N, are we even looking in the right place?
- "Narrator": Detective's Code, Rule 15: The first one through the door searching for clues isn't necessarily the detective...
- Shop Assistant: They could also be the culprit.
- "Narrator": There are three things a detective must protect for life: truth, romance, and...
- Shop Assistant: Hairstyle.
- Shop Assistant: So, you must be the successors Mr. Bob mentioned. Never would've guessed a monkey would be a candidate for the next Touslehead.
Done with the passphrase?
You really believed that?
Are we moving a little too quickly through this strategy?- Shop Assistant: That's an ultra-obscure quote from Bob IV. Anyone who knows this much about Tousled Detective can't be a bad guy, right?
- Shop Assistant: Here, take it. You're the first one to track me down.
- (Quick read)

Bob's Notes (Side A) - Ding ding ding! Welcome, young successor, to this detective game that pulls back the curtain on Astropolis's darkest secrets. Much like Tousled Detective's classic spin-off novel series Tousled Adventure Crew, I split the clues I've gathered into two parts. Only those who complete both trials will earn the right to inherit my work. Of course, this is also an opportunity, a last chance to turn back before you learn the truth and find yourself with no way out.
- During the recent Irontomb incident, a frontier fortification vessel known as the Tartarion was destroyed, and a massive number of casualties were transferred to Astropolis. Even with medical support provided by the Technology Department, nearly a hundred individuals ultimately succumbed to their injuries. What makes this all the more unsettling is the ghost conversion rate among the deceased: a staggering 100%.
- As the investigation deepened, more and more things began to surface:
- 1. Beginning five years ago, imagenae, creatures that should have been exclusive to Planarcadia, started appearing in Astropolis. This breakthrough is said to have originated from an experiment conducted by the Technology Department. Around the same time, ghosts began to appear in Astropolis.
- Based on data gathered from Planarcadia, ghosts are born through a mechanism that sets them apart from other imagenated life, and a highly unusual one at that. In the absence of human intervention, the only plausible conclusion is that somewhere within Astropolis, there exists a device capable of simulating a Phantasmoon from Planarcadia, one that radiates outward, driving the excitation and anchoring of Wishpower. Furthermore, this experiment remains ongoing.
- 2. After ghosts began appearing in Astropolis on a significant scale, the Talent Motivation Department established the "Postmortem Employment Center." Over the following five years, the conversion probability of employees who died in Astropolis turning into ghosts increased by 12 times.
- Ghosts have become the cheapest labor resource in Astropolis, exactly the kind of "talent" the Talent Motivation Department is looking for.
- 3. Tartarion, the most heavily damaged fortification vessel in the battle against Irontomb, received a substantial sum of funding from an unknown source prior to its deployment. Subsequently, each crew member was also compensated with a payout far exceeding standard decommissioning benefits.
- Speculation
One or more departments, driven by vested interests, have been artificially inflating the ghost conversion rate to make ghosts serve the IPC's purposes. But since ghost creation necessarily involves death, this mechanism is extremely difficult to quantify, at least not openly. So, if the ghost experiment requires a large number of samples, could there be a possibility of deliberately manufacturing massive numbers of casualties? - P.S. The food at that new Xianzhou place upstairs is pretty good.
- Ashveil: Looks like another Herald of Death incident. The IPC's tactics haven't changed one bit. The Talent Motivation Department, the Technology Department... So many people are involved. Whoever's behind this is no small fry.
- "Narrator": So, Mr. Bob really was...
- Shop Assistant: I don't know. He just said he had some detective business to take care of.
Head toward the source of the commotion
Mission DescriptionIs being a detective about fame? Is it about profit? Or is it about justice?
- (Approach marked location)
- Beehive Detective: I told you, I'm really here to buy some Aetherium Wars merch. Don't believe me? Take a good look then, this is a limited-edition Pitch-Dark Hook the Great figure, and I've still got the receipt right here.
- Luscious-Haired Detective: Think I don't know about it? Mr. Ghost filled me in before I came, said this was the last place Bob was seen before he went missing.
- Luscious-Haired Detective: I see what you're doing. You just wanna keep all of Bob's clues for yourself!
- Fluffy-Haired Detective: Wait, you're not some spy sent by the mastermind behind all this, are you?
Here we go, nothing beats a good fight.
No fighting here!
Just how many people did that wretched ghost rope in?- Ashveil: So, what's this clue you three are talking about?
- Luscious-Haired Detective: I remember you, Mr. Cool Guy playing hard to get at the auditions. Now get over here and lend a hand. We grab the clues together and split 'em fifty-fifty.
- Ashveil: How are we supposed to split this thing evenly? Okay, everyone just calm down. Let's sit down and talk it out like adults.
- Luscious-Haired Detective: A sorry excuse for a detective who can't even pull off luscious hair. Mind your own business! Wait a minute, you look way too pretty to be innocent... Don't tell me the IPC sent you here as a spy too!
- Ashveil: You! No... tch, YOU!
- "Narrator": The detective was driven to the point of incoherent ranting by an insufferable fool, losing all semblance of reason.
- "Narrator": But then, a thought suddenly crossed his mind: Could this luscious-haired detective standing before him actually be the pot calling the kettle black?
- Luscious-Haired Detective: You wretched monkey! Don't you dare make things up!
- Beehive Detective: Every other word out of your mouth is either the IPC or some shadowy conspiracy... Did Oswaldo pay you off to interfere with my investigation!?
- Mall Security Guard: We got a report of some suspicious individuals brawling and causing a disturbance. That'd be you lot, wouldn't it!
- Beehive Detective: I knew it! You're just another IPC lapdog! Astropolis, you've really gone to the dark side!
- Luscious-Haired Detective: So you want to get rid of me just because I'm about to uncover the truth? That's dark, Astropolis. Real dark.
- Mall Security Guard: Quit spouting nonsense. You're coming with us.
- Fluffy-Haired Detective: Good riddance to that noisy fool. Finally, some peace and quiet.
Talk to the Fluffy-Haired Detective
- (Interact with the Fluffy-Haired Detective)
- Ashveil: This was you, wasn't it? Deliberately got those two boneheads riled up just to get them out of the way.
- Ashveil: As for the real clue, it has been on you all along.
- Fluffy-Haired Detective: I knew I wasn't wrong about you. You're the real detective after all.
- "Narrator": The detective kept his surprise carefully hidden. If the other party ever found out he'd only stumbled onto the right answer by pure luck, well, that would just be awkward for everyone involved.
- Fluffy-Haired Detective: ...
- Fluffy-Haired Detective: Detective's Code, Rule 9: Watch out for the most eager bystander at the scene.
- Fluffy-Haired Detective: Take the clue. Consider it a little gift between fellow Tousled Detective fans.
- (Quick read)
-
Bob's Notes (Side B) - Ding-dong. Greetings, young successor, congratulations on finding the second half of the clue. Then again, you might have found this one first, but I'm not one for unnecessary complications, so I'll just assume you already know everything that went down in Tartarion. A word of friendly advice: If you'd rather stay out of trouble, feel free to tear this note up, or burn it, if that's more your style. But if justice is what you're after, then by the time this falls into your hands, my fight has likely already been lost. I hope you'll be willing to carry on where I left off, until the day sunlight can truly reach every last corner of Astropolis.
- I need to find out who ran this experiment, the one who used Tartarion as expendable test subjects.
- Both the Talent Motivation Department and the Technology Department are prime suspects. Their motives are almost too obvious, which is exactly what throws me off. Given how these two departments usually operate, they could easily resort to far more controversial, heavy-handed methods to get what they want. Unless... There's another hand pulling the strings behind this experiment.
- Years of living in Astropolis has honed my instincts, and the first name that jumped to mind was that thoroughly rotten Oswaldo. Sure, the warship was registered under the Marketing Development Department, but knowing how he operates, the lives of his own staff mean nothing to him. Pure conspiracy theorizing won't crack the case. However, a little luck sure helps. Buried deep within the mountains of publicly disclosed financial statements spanning every department, I found a sum that matched exactly the mysterious funding Tartarion had received, dressed up under the tidy little label of "welfare assistance."
- But... why him? I don't understand. Maybe I'll only find the answers I'm looking for when we're face to face. But the moment I learn the truth will probably be the moment I die.
- I remember being a kid, watching the Tousled Detective appear on-screen for the very first time, the villain gets knocked down, justice being served, and all I could think was how impossibly cool that towering figure looked. But as I got older and looked up at Lodestar Tower, I couldn't see past the glittering surface to whatever ugliness lurked behind it. That's when it hit me: The Tousled Detective's ideals were so fragile, so utterly fleeting. So, I'm going to find him to get justice for the dead.
- Detective's Code, Rule 5: Don't be afraid of evil. Evil should be afraid of you.
- P.S. After everything is said and done, I bet you're dying to know who the real mastermind behind all of this is. Remember the interactive game from Tousled Adventure Crew? Stack two pages on top of each other, and the hidden answer will reveal itself. This is your final warning: Once you see that name, there's no going back.
- Side Note: The Xianzhou cuisine at that place is absolutely amazing. I recommend bringing a friend along.
- Ashveil: Fair competition? Didn't take you for the honorable type.
- Fluffy-Haired Detective: Competition? No, no, you've got it all wrong.
- Fluffy-Haired Detective: As I said before, the audience wants a story. They want to watch Bob XV meet his fate while chasing the IPC's bottomless pit of dirty secrets, then have someone to curse at, some shadowy bigwig they can't even put a name to.
- Fluffy-Haired Detective: Even if you manage to uncover the truth, they'll just turn around and go for the mystery I fabricated instead.
- Fluffy-Haired Detective: Mr. Bob is a respectable senior, but he's gotten way too into it, completely lost in that little detective make-believe of his. As for you three... let's hope you make it back in one piece.
- Ashveil: What an insufferable guy... Now that we have both clues, what's our next move, Mister N?
- "Narrator": Stack the two pieces of paper on top of each other and hold them up to the light. You should be able to see the hidden information.
- "Narrator": Mr. Ashveil, I'm gonna get some fresh air. In the name of your detective pride, I'll leave the big reveal to you.
- Ashveil: Right now? Well, fair enough. Let's see who's been pulling the strings behind all this.
- Ashveil: Traditional Project Department, Arita.
No way...
I knew it was him.
Why isn't it Oswaldo?- Ashveil: This is the clue the Tousled Detective risked his life to leave behind. I've no reason not to trust him.
- Ashveil: Makes sense. The detective left behind so many clues, and yet the one pulling the strings made no effort to destroy them... because he simply didn't care.
- Ashveil: ...
- Ashveil: Oh no, Mister N went off alone to look for Arita.
- Ashveil: ...(Trailblazer), thanks for going along with our little shenanigans. It's been a while since I've seen Mister N this lively. Guess this is where we part ways.
I'm coming with you.
We need to track down Arita and get the answers.
We're the detective trio, remember?- Ashveil: Thanks, then let's go catch up with Mister N.
Find Mister N before he does something stupid
- (Interact with Kenneth)
- Kenneth: Welcome, both of you. Now that the detectives have arrived, we may get ready to head out.
- Ashveil: Mister N! Did he do anything to you?
- "Narrator": I'm fine... Mr. Ashveil. It seems like he knew we were coming all along.
- Kenneth: As a fellow Tousled Detective fan, Mr. Arita has been keeping a close eye on the detective competition.
- Ashveil: Giving yourself away already, huh?
- Kenneth: For such thrilling mystery-solving, this place is far too noisy. Shall we move along together to the last place Mr. Bob was seen?
Head to Skycall Aery and uncover the truth
Mission DescriptionIn broad daylight, under a clear sky, the truth is laid bare for all to see.
- (Approach marked location)
- Kenneth: As Mr. Arita's representative, you may treat me as if I were him.
- Kenneth: We're already at the crime scene, and the suspect is also present. You may begin your deduction.
- Ashveil: Mister N, let me be the assistant this time, and you get to play detective.
Isn't that what we always do?
- Ashveil: Don't throw me under the bus at a time like this.
Detective Mister N. Awesome.- "Narrator": The frontier fortification vessel Tartarion was destroyed during the Irontomb incident, with a massive number of crew members succumbing to grievous wounds and being converted into ghost imagenae, joining the ranks of the Postmortem Employment Center.
- "Narrator": A workforce immune to fatigue, an undead legion, a purely positive asset with nothing but upsides for any department of the IPC.
- "Narrator": All the IPC needs is one good opportunity to quickly gather enough samples and prove that mass-producing ghosts is actually viable.
- Kenneth: The Talent Motivation Department wants new recruits, the Technology Department wants samples... What about the Traditional Project Department?
- "Narrator": Good question! Your operations are so sprawling, they've become the elephant in the room. But as time went on, the old work got shuffled off to the Traditional Project Department, and the ghost employees just kept piling up.
- "Narrator": Over time, the Traditional Project Department would become the IPC's largest division, commanding the most talent and projects, and emerging as the biggest beneficiary of all.
- "Narrator": You thought killing Bob would scare everyone off. Unfortunately, I don't care about my life, nor do I care who you really are.
- Kenneth: Methodical and well-founded, just like that deduction of his. Yet rage and bias led you astray.
- Kenneth: They did become ghosts, though not for the sake of any experiment. It was simply because Mr. Arita had taken out insurance on them.
Huh?
Who are you trying to fool!
There are too many plot twists. I'm totally lost now.- Kenneth: As for the specifics, you'd better see for yourself.
Solve the mystery of Touslehead's disappearance
- (Investigate)
- Kenneth: A ghost may not be a perfect stand-in for the real thing, but if all you need are test subjects, there are enough filthy-rich immortality-seekers across the universe to fill every last corner of Astropolis.
- Kenneth: The cost of artificially manufacturing a ghost far exceeds the value of any single employee.
- Tousled Detective: By your own account, what reason could you possibly have to spend hundreds of millions of credits on a few hundred ghosts you could find anywhere around Astropolis?
- Kenneth: Frontline employees are the cornerstone of any thriving business. By "reviving" the best of them, we bring back their value to the Traditional Project Department, no matter which division they end up in.
- Kenneth: In six months, this welfare program, co-sponsored by the Talent Motivation Department, will be officially announced to the public. It's not some secret evil project, and Tartarion was simply a pilot.
- Arita: This is the answer you seek, child.
- Tousled Detective: So you're saying that after all this time searching, I've been wrongly suspecting you? That you're all just saints with hearts of gold?
- Arita: No, I'm just a merchant. I'll admit, some of my colleagues have been committing acts that betray the Preservation, and yes, there's corruption and greed involved, but it's not what you're imagining.
- Arita: You all assume there's some concrete, all-powerful villain out there, one guy to pin all the evil on, and if you just beat him, the world magically gets better.
- Arita: But the IPC is a vast machine. If it has any good and evil in it, it's long since permeated into every crack between its gears.
- Arita: Kill me, and you might change many things, but the only thing you won't is the IPC you all depend on to survive.
- Arita: Look down at your feet. The darkness you seek is right there, child. It always has been bathed in sunlight, fully exposed.
- Tousled Detective: If this is the truth, where neither justice nor evil is present, then what's the point of anything I've done? Bumping up the show's ratings by 1%?
- Kenneth: Well, that's entirely up to how you see it.
- Tousled Detective: ...
- Tousled Detective: Mr. Arita, I heard you're also a fan of the Tousled Detective. I have a request... that I want a new identity, one where I don't have to do all this reasoning anymore. Just an ordinary person, no more detective work.
- Tousled Detective: Please, let the Tousled Detective die here.
- Ashveil: Mister N?
Are you alright?
At least he's still alive.
Feels like some emotions have been bottled up all this time.- "Narrator": Let's head back and tell everyone the truth.
- Kenneth: I don't think the audience is gonna like how this ends.
- "Narrator": I still have one question: Is business really the only reason Mr. Arita spent so much money on those ghosts?
- Kenneth: ...
- Kenneth: Detective's Code, Rule 3: Those who lay down their lives for others should not be let down.
Return to the audition venue and reveal the truth
Mission DescriptionIn front of the camera, which matters more: the truth, or the story?
- (Approach marked location)
- Hostess: So what you're saying is, there was no mastermind pulling the strings all along, and Mr. Bob just chose to retire on his own?
- Pineapple-Haired Detective: Who do you think you're fooling!
- Hostess: Besides, you're already too late. The real detective has already closed the case.
- Fluffy-Haired Detective: What you folks don't know is that Oswaldo once orchestrated a secret experiment that never came to light, and it wasn't even that long ago...
- Fabricated stories poured from the detective, while the audience lapped them up, not with any great seriousness, yet accepting every word as fact.
- Ashveil: This is so infuriating. Are we just gonna let someone like that swoop in and take all the credit?
- "Narrator": Forget it, it was Mr. Bob's choice after all.
So be it.- "Narrator": Time to wake up from that pipe dream of being a detective.
- (Trailblazer): (Is this really it? Wait, didn't that snitch of a ghost mention something about the Postmortem Employment Center? And Skott seemed to be there too...)
So be it.
- "Narrator": ...
- (If Postmortem Employment Center was completed and the "That's that." was not chosen)
Just you wait, let me call in some backup.
- (Trailblazer): I refuse to believe there's no one out there who can put him in his place.
- (Trailblazer): (Let's head to the Postmortem Employment Center first.)
- (If Postmortem Employment Center was completed and the "That's that." was chosen)
Just you wait, let me call in some backup.
- (Trailblazer): I refuse to believe there's no one out there who can put him in his place.
- King Heartthrob: Pathetic, absolutely pathetic. "Oswaldo did everything." Can't even come up with a better excuse than that?
- Fluffy-Haired Detective: So, what's your brilliant take on this?
- King Heartthrob: For that, we'd have to dig into some dark secrets of the Talent Motivation Department and the Technology Department. It all goes back to three Amber Eras ago...
- Tales a hundred times more sensational than anything the detective could fabricate constantly poured from the robot's mouth. The crowd gazed upon it with reverent awe. And just like that, the question of who would take up the mantle of the next detective was settled.
- "Narrator": That's—!
- "Narrator": Mr. Bob! Wait up!
- ???: You've got the wrong man. I'm just a regular clerk working at Lodestar Tower.
- "Narrator": But you were staring at us the whole time.
- ???: I'm just curious, why would you tell the audience such a boring story?
- "Narrator": For justice.
- ???: This is Astropolis, a place where profit reigns, and justice doesn't even exist.
- "Narrator": But Astropolis doesn't make up the whole universe.
- ???: All I see is a self-pitying clown who fancied himself a hero of justice, all braced to meet his end, only to find out he doesn't even qualify to die for what he believed in.
- ???: The Tousled Detective is nothing but a lie.
- "Narrator": But does that make the genuine emotion each detective brought any less real? The same goes for you, doesn't it? You were captivated by a detective darting among the stars on a screen when you were young, and that's why you chose to become the fifteenth Bob.
- "Narrator": And tomorrow, there will be more kids, moved by the detective's story, who choose to walk the path against injustice, just as others did yesterday.
- ???: Out into the world beyond Astropolis, huh...
- Ashveil: Just don't come poaching customers at Planarcadia, and we're all good. By the way, could you sign something for our Mister N? He's been going on about it forever.
- Tousled Detective: Haha, sure thing! What do you want me to write?
- "Narrator": Detective's Code, Rule 1.
- Detective and "Narrator": Justice and answers aren't something you search for. They've been inside you all along.
