Old Civilization

The old civilization, also called the ancient civilization, was a civilization that existed over a century ago, predating the founding of Eridu.
Overview
History
The age of the old civilization is unknown. It is inferred to have been destroyed in an ancient war, after which Hollows began to appear throughout the world.[1]
Similarly to New Eridu, the old civilization had human, Thiren, and Intelligent Construct citizens alike.[2] Some Intelligent Construct Agents were originally created in that era, such as Billy Kid,[3] Qingyi,[4] and Banyue.[5]
Culture
Cultural artifacts from the old civilization persist as textual records, images, music, videotapes, and films, which have inspired the creation of multiple modern movies such as Last Flight, This Is How I Am, Nihility, and Galactic Odyssey. The movie Starlight Knight: The First Heroes was shot in the style of tokusatsu shows from the old civilization.[6] The Well-Tempered Clavier is a collection of classical music from the old civilization.[7]
One notable relic is a pure white statue resembling a person made from tires, which was allegedly a "symbol of industry and highway culture" placed at every road.[8] Other, non-physical, cultural concepts are perpetuated in the form of myths, urban legends, proverbial sayings, and fictional media. Various mythical entities such as doppelgangers,[9] vampires,[10] werewolves,[11] and nekomata[12] are described in stories of old.
Some foods known to have existed in the old civilization are red bean buns and Dough Hoops.[13][14]
Trivia
- The old civilization bears a resemblance to and has multiple references to the real world, which may imply that the setting of Zenless Zone Zero is a post-apocalyptic version of Earth.
