Lisa/Storyline

Last updated 2026-08-22

Lisa Minci is the overseer of Mondstadt's Library at the Knights of Favonius Headquarters. In her youth, she was considered one of the best students of Sumeru Akademiya. However, she ultimately became disillusioned by the uninhibited madness exhibited by her peers, and fearful of the price of knowledge. As a result, she abandoned her prestige at the school to live a carefree life as a librarian.

Profile

Personality

Lisa is defined by a striking contrast between her public persona as a languid, tea-loving librarian, and her private reality as a "once-in-two-centuries" genius who has seen too much. On the surface, she is a charming, elegant, and erudite lady who values efficiency—though her efficiency is often a mask for a deep-seated desire to avoid unnecessary trouble.

Contrary to what her carefree demeanor suggests, Lisa's laziness is a calculated lifestyle choice. Having witnessed the heavy price paid by scholars in Sumeru for the pursuit of wisdom, she has developed a profound wariness toward ambition and taking matters too seriously. She deliberately maintains a relaxed, "academy-style" detachment from her work, believing that demanding too much from the miracles of the gods—including her own Vision—will eventually come with an unaffordable cost. This fear of the truth behind knowledge makes her view her own power as a "bottomless pit filled with sweet delights," leading her to limit her efforts to tasks that are strictly necessary.

Despite this, Lisa possesses a hidden streak of perfectionism and protective anxiety regarding knowledge. While she happily delegates chores like potion-brewing and ingredient-gathering to others via Kaeya, she is strictly hands-on when it comes to the library’s archives. This is not due to a love of organization, but rather a need for peace of mind—she only feels secure when she is the sole gatekeeper of the information under her care.

Socially, Lisa maintains a playful yet authoritative air, positioning herself as a "big sister" figure for those around her. She treats her life in Mondstadt as a peaceful retirement from the intensity of the Akademiya, though she retains the terrifying capability of a master mage when provoked. Lisa is fundamentally a mentor figure who is secretly searching for someone capable of discovering the truth behind the price of knowledge—a truth she herself is too afraid to pursue further.

Appearance

Tall and fair-skinned woman, Lisa has green eyes and wavy, medium-length light brown hair, which she wears in a loose braid over her shoulder.

History

Past

Lisa attended Sumeru Akademiya in her youth, enrolling in the Spantamad Darshan and studying for two years under Cyrus' tutelage. She was also fellow classmates with Cyno, whom she considers her junior. During her time in the Akademiya, her aptitude led her to being considered a child prodigy, a "once-in-two centuries" level of genius. However, after witnessing scholars driven to madness by their pursuit of wisdom and the cold detachment of the Akademiya's sages, she became deeply disillusioned. Fearing the heavy price that such knowledge extracts from the soul, she abandoned her studies upon graduation, and immediately returned to Mondstadt to join the Knights of Favonius.

Upon her entry into the order, she was assigned to Captain the 8th Company by the Grand Master, Varka. This spurred strong opposition from the company's Field Officer, Nymph, who did not believe an "academic" was fit for the role. With the approval of the Quartermaster at the time, Kaeya, a magic duel was arranged between the two. The bout lasted only two minutes, after which Lisa declined the captaincy, citing Nymph's own competence as the reason. In reality, Lisa refused the promotion because she realized that—while her strength could make the unit more powerful—such status brought extra risks and "extra work," which she found unacceptable. Nymph proceeded to spend the next year sending letters recommending Lisa for the position, but Lisa remained steadfast with her current career as Librarian.

In her daily life as Librarian, Lisa would maintain a languid exterior, often found yawning at her desk or delegating her various responsibilities—such as potion brewing and ingredient gathering—to others like Huffman, Swan, and Donna. However, her demeanor would shift significantly regarding the library's collection. While she understood the circumstances for most overdue returnees, she would often find the task of chasing down borrowers exasperating, distributing "punishment" via Electro shock to whoever exhausted her patience.

Her stricter focus on the library's collection did not mean she neglected her secondary duty of supplying the Knights with potions. Working alongside Albedo, Lisa contributed her alchemical expertise to develop various specialized potions for the Knights' expeditionary forces—most notably a popular sobriety tonic.[4] This collaboration often took place in Albedo’s office, a shared workspace, where she also spent two weeks of laboratory time and a significant budget to engineer her Special Heating Cauldron.

Lisa would also spend her time extending guidance to those she found promising, such as Razor, whom she taught to harness and control his Electro vision after he was brought to Mondstadt by Varka, or Mika, whom she recommended books to when he initially began to learn cartography.

Approximately a year before the Traveler's arrival to Mondstadt, she assisted the investigation into the Black Fire incident by compiling reports for the Knights of Favonius to read through. Furthermore, she approached Diluc for additional context regarding the Ursa the Drake incident, as tasked by Jean. In order to help with Collei's inquiries, she also contacted her teacher to request assistance in deciphering the ancient language found on one of the Fatui's files. Due to her request, Cyno traveled to Mondstadt and was able to seal the archon residue[Note 1] inside Collei. Prior to Collei leaving to Sumeru with Cyno, Lisa also assisted her in writing a letter to Amber in which Collei thanked Amber.

Present

The Traveler first meets Lisa during the Stormterror Crisis; she takes a liking to them and proceeds to dub them with the nickname "cutie." Due to Dvalin's energies running rampant and as a mage, Lisa felt his energies and was displeased, claiming she was one elemental particle away from a full-blown breakout. She pinpointed the energies' origin to the Four Winds' Temples.[5] The Traveler accompanied Lisa to the Temple of the Lion, where they cleared the monsters and the energy source within.[6]

Lisa seems to be fond of the Traveler, which manifests as her acting flirtatious with them, referring to them as "cutie," and admitting that they're special to her.[7]

Lisa was pleased after the Traveler resolved the Stormterror crisis and returned to the library. The Traveler, wanting to learn more about the nations, visited her. She suggested the Mondstadt edition of the Teyvat Travel Guide, only to realize the book had not been returned, which quickly led to her noticing other books were also overdue. Deciding the borrowers had taken too long, she decided to recover them herself, doubling the recovery as an outing with the Traveler. Upon reaching the last person, Donna, she reveals to her that the book might've been stolen. Lisa reassures her that it isn't her fault and tells the Traveler that all of the books were marked with elemental energy, so the thief could not have gotten far. They eventually discover an Abyss Mage had stolen the book, believing it had a secret power hidden in it. The mage refused to return the book, prompting Lisa to electrocute it with a blast of Electro energy. They recover the book, and Lisa allows the Traveler to indefinitely keep it as a "custodian" rather than "borrower." They return to the library, where a new shipment of travel guides had arrived, where she gives one to them. She also gives them some souvenirs for helping her reclaim the book.[8]

Taking note of Jean's work across the city, Lisa and the other Knights of Favonius decided to arrange a party for her. During the party, Lisa told the Traveler that Jean was upstairs, cryptically telling them that they could talk to her without others listening.[9]

During the first Windblume Festival, Jean had Lisa accompany her on patrol to handle any drunkards they came across. Lisa would handle them by using her powers to electrocute them, much to her exasperation.[10] They later concluded the patrol and shared a meal.

After Klee obtained a threatening letter on Dodoco, she and the Traveler went to Lisa for answers. Lisa suggested they use Elemental Sight, revealing additional script which they transcribed. She told them that she had heard of these islands through various books in the library, with many considering it to be a legend. She did not know the location of these islands, telling them to look for someone more knowledgeable on the matter, as she spent her time inside.[11]

Varka had Mika return to Mondstadt for the upcoming Weinlesefest and had him carry a letter back home. In it, he told Lisa that he believed it was time for Razor to learn his past, having kept a box of his parents' mementos inside the office. The Traveler noticed Lisa's concern, who told them that as his teacher, she felt that he would close himself off to her if he felt upset. As such, she asked the Traveler to do so on her behalf, as he saw them as friends and she believed it was better he learned from them instead. The Traveler brought Razor to the office, where they discovered a Thousand-Wind Wine. Lisa explained its origins and asked Razor to smell it before telling him they had other options to solve the problem.[12] As he solved the problem with his friends, he came upon a roadblock. Lisa, believing another tutoring session was due, told the Traveler to wait a few days for the final ingredient before easing Razor's heart.[13]

Lisa later returned to Sumeru for an annual reunion with her fellow Darshan. She had wanted to meet with Collei, but was found by Gafoor, who asked her to return, as she could be an exceptional Herbad. Lisa refused, as she did not want to return to the decay she had witnessed in the Akademiya and was content with her duty as a librarian. Garfoor respected her decision and left; seeing the Traveler's curiosity, she explained to them why she had left. She then asked them what they were doing and was surprised to hear they had resolved a major crisis in the nation, pleased at how much they had grown. She would spend a few more days across the rainforest before returning home.[14]

While fish blasting across Mondstadt, Klee came upon non-native fish and reported it to her seniors. To ensure Klee could enjoy some time while the Investigation Team handled the matter, Lisa decided to create the Dodoco's Bomb-Tastic Adventure to keep Klee entertained while the situation was being sorted out. The Traveler ran into both and played the game with Klee.[15] The situation was later resolved and Lisa explained what had happened after the Investigation Team concluded their finds.[16]

Wishing to increase the public perception of alchemy, Jean asked Lisa to help out on the endeavor. Lisa, having had some knowledge in potions, agreed, but was at a standstill until the Traveler met with her. She asked the Traveler to help out with a newly opened potion shop and gave them basic pointers before leaving them to their own machinations.[17] As the shop grew, Lisa realized there were other areas to improve business and told them to speak with Freda for more information.[18]

When monsters infested by Durin's energies attacked Mondstadt, Lisa was forced to step outside and defend the city from the attackers. She used "gentle" electrocution to kill the monsters, finding it relieving to let loose once in a while by going out.[19] The Windblume Festival that was held was also a distraction for Albedo to bring forth a new and friendlier Durin. As Durin slowly acclimated to the people of Mondstadt, Lisa taught him how to read and write.

Lisa and the others later met Lohen in the library, where he gave them letters sent by Varka explaining what was going on in Nod-Krai. She had a stockpile of documents in the archive that needed his review, and she promised to make sure that he handled each one rather than run off. She then suggested they speak to Jean, believing she would be relieved with his return.[20] The letters were meant to help anchor him to the physical world rather than the Ley Lines, and as such, Lisa wrote a letter to do so.[21]

Alongside many of Mondstadt's civilians, Lisa participated in Nicole and Alice's memory bubble project, though she found the prospect rather boring and wanted to return to her leisure activities.[22] She later met the Traveler at a temporary bar stand, asking for a drink to revive her energy and mood. The Traveler concocted a Snow-Kissed Dawn for her, which she found too energizing for her. The Traveler later made a new drink after talking to her about various topics, which she found much better, as she was no longer tired nor overstimulated. She decided to name the new drink "Slumbering Rose."

Notes

  1. Due to localization adjustments made after the manga's release, the term "archon residue" is no longer accurate. The original Chinese term refers to gods that predate the rise of The Seven.
