Scourge of Endless Decay is a quest-exclusive NPC who appears in the World Quest When War Songs Rise in Series Nightingale's Song: Chapter II - Darradarljod and subsequent quests.

Profile

The Scourge of Endless Decay is an Abyssal entity that was helping Rotwang achieve his goals of opening the False Sky to the Abyss by using the Pillar of Embla. After Rotwang's defeat, the Scourge of Endless Decay was sealed beneath Kipumaki Cliff with a sealing array by the first Moonchanter of the Frostmoon Scions, Aila and the Torchforger Solovei.

During the World Quest When War Songs Rise in Series Nightingale's Song: Chapter II - Darradarljod, the Scourge of Endless Decay acts as the quest's antagonist. It first appears in the form of a Wilderness Hunter and later in that of the Lord of the Hidden Depths: Whisperer of Nightmares. The Traveler, together with the Nightmare Orioles squad under Illuga's command, tries to reestablish the sealing mechanism and defeat it. In subsequent quests, they activate the Verdant Crests, which are used in the sealing mechanism. During this process, Bjorn is fatally wounded by the Scourge of Endless Decay. After reactivating the seal and destroying the Evil Eye over Kipumaki Cliff, Illuga pursues the Scourge of Endless Decay to its lair in the Chasm of Endless Decay. It summons illusions from Illuga's past and tries to exploit his experiences of loss to subdue him. With his squad's help, he resists and they use the Spiralblade to defeat the Scourge of Endless Decay, cleansing the area of its influence.

Appearance

The Scourge of Endless Decay in its original form takes on the appearance of an Evil Eye of Blightseep but in a larger form and with a special core and large hands.

• Just like the Ultimate Calamity and the Serpent of All Evils, it's possible that the Scourge of Endless Decay was once a human, too, though its retained sanity and ability to shift forms may suggest otherwise.
