Smirnova

Smirnova (Russian: Смирнова Smirnova), full name Elena Smirnova, is an open-world NPC located in Morepesok, Everfrozen Earth, Snezhnaya.

She is the sole surviving member of the Fatui's 6th Company, who were otherwise all slain during an incident in Nothing Passage, Lempo Isle, Nod-Krai; the Traveler finds the remnants of the incident during the World Quest Series Colors of Emptiness.

Elena Smirnova hails from Morepesok and joined the Fatui at an unknown point in her life. She was a Private in the Fatui's 6th Company, which was dispatched on the ill-fated expedition to Nothing Passage. They were sent to oversee and assist the kuuvahki research being conducted by Armory Palace researchers Preobrazhensky and Anton Zarkovich Karnatsky; however, the two researcher's fierce rivalry created two kuuhenki-like beings and their respective "colors," whose overwhelming might proved impossible for the 6th Company to contend with. Captain Volkov sacrificed himself to buy time for Elena to escape and call for help, but they all perished before reinforcements could arrive.^[1]

Elena was left deeply traumatized by the incident, and has been on leave from military duty since then; the reinforcements sent to investigate the scene ultimately chose not to inform her of the company's demise.

In his personal notes written during the expedition, fellow 6th Company Private Pyotr Dmitriyevich Orlov recounts how a bored Elena snuck out of camp to hunt goats, calling her "every bit the lady of Morepesok [...] absolutely no regard for the rules."^[2] She was also mentioned as the one on night watch when the two researchers' experiments first started going awry.^[3]
