Stalanov

Stalanov (Russian: Сталанов Stalanov) is the Police Chief of Novokitezhgrad, Snezhnaya and is mentioned across the East of the Moon, West of the Sun World Quest Series.

He has connections to most of the main characters from the quest series; he is Netochka's father, was Raskolnikov's teacher, and was close friends with Mr. Shesternin Sr. — the father of Danyusha Shesternin and the father-in-law of Zhorik Shesternin.

Profile

Stalanov is considered a competent Police Chief and an effective teacher by both Netochka and Raskolnikov. However, the two's opinions differ on whom Stalanov favors more; Raskolnikov calls Netochka Stalanov's "precious daughter" and considers her spoiled, which Netochka counters by saying Stalanov only ever thinks of his trainees, among whom Raskolnikov was his best.^[1]

Ten years ago, Stalanov and the Shesternins were passengers aboard a ship named "Fortunate One," which was headed for Nod-Krai. Around the time the ship passed the Eye of Kratti, Mr. Shesternin Sr. disappeared and was never found, despite Stalanov's attempts.^[2] Whether he maintained good relations with Danyusha and Zhorik afterwards has not been addressed.
