Dialogue
The witch's dictionary also includes an assignment that Alice left for Klee. Why not drop by the Knights of Favonius headquarters and ask Klee about it?
- (Approach Knights of Favonius Headquarters)
- Klee: Hmm... Dodoco...
- Paimon: Hey there, Klee!
- Klee: (Mr./
Miss) Honorary Knight! Paimon! - Klee: Dodoco needs help! Mom said you were coming, but I didn't know it'd be so soon!
- Paimon: Dodoco... needs help?
- Paimon: Oh, for Pete's sake... Is that the task?
- Klee: What? No, for Klee's sake! And for Dodoco, too!
- Paimon: No, Paimon knows that. She was asking about the task. You know what that is, right? It's like a...
A task.
- Klee: ?
- Paimon: ...Thank you, Honorary Knight of Fav-Obvious.
- Paimon: Anyway, um... A task is... Gah, why is it so hard to describe!? It's like... helping Dodoco! Yeah! That's a task!
It's something that needs doing.
- Paimon: Yeah, something that needs doing!
- Klee: Oh! So, like... when I go blast-fishing with Jumpy Dumpty?
- Paimon: No, no! A "task" isn't just something you wanna do!
- Klee: I'm confused...
- Paimon: *sigh* It's like... When your mom tells you to do something! That's a "task"!
- Klee: Oh! Thanks, Paimon. That kinda makes more sense, although not really.
- Klee: Anyway, let's go help Dodoco now!
- Paimon: Hold on. What kind of help does Dodoco need?
- Klee: Oh, right. Well, every Dodoco's gotta find a red four-leaf clover to become a super special Dodoco.
- Klee: Then, Dodoco needs to become friends with lots of people and can make it through the Dodo-King's trial. Once that's done, she can then become a super awesome...
- Klee: Dodo-Sorcerer!
- Klee: ...That's what Mom said, anyway.
- Paimon: Huh, a Dodo-King being in charge of a Dodo-Sorcerer... Makes sense, actually.
- Paimon: Um, but specifically, what do we need to do?
- Klee: No idea.
- Klee: But Mom said that you two would tell me.
- Paimon: R—Right... Well, let's have a look at this book then...
- Klee: Oh! There's a note inside it!
- Paimon: Huh, let's see what it says...
- Paimon: ...At the first stage of the trial, Dodoco arrived in a forest of whispering leaves. There, past layer upon layer of hurdles, a secret lay buried, waiting to be uncovered...
- Paimon: Seems like part of a story about Dodoco...
- Klee: Oh, I know where that forest is! It's where I go to blast— Ahem, where I go to play a lot!
- Klee: C'mon, everyone! Follow me!
- Paimon: Alright, let's go!
- (Arrive at the Whispering Woods)
- Paimon: What's with all the weird stuff around here? And why are there so many Hilichurls?
- Paimon: Huh, maybe the Hilichurls brought it all here?
- Klee: Ohhhh, I bet this is where we find the turtles!
- Paimon: Close, but the note said "hurdles," not "turtles."
- Paimon: And whatever we're looking for is supposed to be buried past all "the hurdles"... Huh, are there any other clues around?
- Paimon: Is there no Dodo-device that can help us out here?
- Klee: Uh... nope.
- Paimon: What should we do, then?
- Klee: Hmm... Mom says the best thing to do when you run into a problem is to try and fix it!
Then let us be rid of these hurdles.- Klee: Yeah!
- (Defeat the enemies)
- Paimon: Alright, that's the Hilichurls and barriers all taken care of...
- Paimon: And we didn't set the forest on fire.
- Klee: I was extra careful with Jumpy Dumpty!
- Klee: I've been getting sent to confinement less and less these days!
- Paimon: Nice job, Klee!
- Paimon: Maybe sometime soon, you won't have to go at all...
- Klee: Well, if Master Jean would just let Klee blow the confinement room up...
- Paimon: That's not really what Paimon had in mind... Wait, what about the trial? Did we learn anything new?
- Klee: Yep! I found this in the hole Jumpy Dumpty created after exploding...
- Paimon: Huh, another note.
- Klee: Yup, and it's mom's handwriting again...
- Paimon: "Now then, Dodoco may or may not have blasted all the hurdles away — though the most direct approach is sometimes the most elegant one. Either way, thus did Dodoco make it to the second stage of the trial..."
- Paimon: "Which, coincidentally, was also the final stage. Even the most energetic of children need to pace themselves, after all. So..."
- Paimon: "Dodoco proceeded to the banks of a lake of fallen stars, passed the final trial, and obtained her reward. But could things really be that simple...?"
- Paimon: Huh, "a lake of fallen stars"... That must be Starfell Lake!
- Paimon: Let's go see what we can find.
- Klee: Alright!
- Paimon: Paimon's super curious about what this reward's gonna be. Fingers crossed for some kind of awesome treasure!
- (Arrive at Starfell Lake)
- Klee: Oooh, it's a chest!
- Paimon: The final treasure must be inside this thing...
Klee, would you do honors...- Klee: You got it! Me and Dodoco will get it open, no problem!
- Paimon: Whoa, wait a second... Monsters incoming!
Guess it's not going to be that simple, after all...- Klee: Hmph, they wanna steal Dodoco's treasure, I just know it!
- Klee: Let's kick 'em out. Then, we can open the box!
- (Talk to Klee)
- Paimon: Phew, that's that...
- Paimon: The note implied things wouldn't be that simple. Guess it was because of those monsters.
- Klee: But that means... We passed the trial!
- Paimon: Hehe, yep! Now then, let's check out what's in this box...
- (Klee peers inside.)
- Klee: Oh, it's...
- (Paimon flys up beside her.)
- Paimon: A tiny hat?
- Klee: A hat for Dodoco!
- Klee: In the Dodo Clan, only the awesomest and bestest Dodocos in the land can earn the acknowledgment of the Dodo-King!
- Klee: Their job is to help out and protect all the other Dodocos, so the Dodo-King gives them a special hat.
- Klee: That way, the other Dodocos will recognize them and know who they can go to for help.
- Paimon: Oh! So now your Dodoco is one of these special Dodocos with a hat!
- Klee: Exactly! The hat makes Dodoco a Dodo-Sorcerer now! She can use special spark magic to help even more people!
- (From behind, Jean address Klee with a warning tone.)
- Jean: Klee—
- (As the group turns around, Jean walks up to them.)
- Jean: The Knights have informed me about explosions being heard from the forest outside the city...
- (Klee is at the Traveler's side in a flash, looking up with a pleading expression.)
- Klee: Um, (Mr./
Miss) Honorary Knight, Paimon... A little help please... - Paimon: Ah, that's because we cleared out a Hilichurl camp over there, and a bunch of Slimes too. Plus, we were working on Klee's task.
- Klee: That's right!
- (Having folded her arms, Jean gestures off to the side, where several dead fish float at the surface of the lake.)
- Jean: Mm... And as for the fish over here?
- Klee: I... might have blasted them. But it's because there were monsters in the lake! I didn't do it on purpose! It's not like those other times...
- (Jean places her arms akimbo and looks at Klee sternly.)
- Jean: I see. I take it those other times were on purpose, then?
- Klee: Um, they weren't... not on purpose?
- Jean: *sigh*... I noticed the destroyed camp on the way here, and I saw the monsters fleeing along the shore of Starfell Lake.
- Jean: Am I correct in assuming that's all the damage, (Traveler)?
The rest was Paimon's doing.
- Paimon: ...Yeah. You know Paimon, clearing out monsters with a single punch! She's just awesome like that.
That's all the damage.- Jean: Klee.
- Jean: Come with me. Let's head back.
- Klee: Ohh... Is it confinement for Klee again?
- (Jean gently smiles.)
- Jean: Well, (Traveler)'s vouching for you, so I suppose your punishment will just have to be... a meal at the Good Hunter!
- Jean: You've been out and about all day. I'm sure you must be hungry.
- Klee: You're the best, Master Jean!
- Jean: You two are more than welcome to join as well.
- Paimon: Haha, awesome! Paimon's been craving some Sweet Madame!
- Jean treats you, Paimon, and Klee to a meal at the Good Hunter...
Ah, along with Dodoco, the newly crowned "Dodo-Sorcerer" of course.
With that, the trial comes to a successful close.
