Tugarin

Last updated 2026-09-06

Tugarin (Russian: Тугарин Tugarin) is Alyosha's dog companion who assists him in hunting.

He[1] is a quest-exclusive NPC who first appears in the Archon Quest Gunfire in the Silent Lands in Chapter VII: Act I - Everwinter Without Mercy.

In combat, Tugarin assists Alyosha when called upon by Alyosha's Elemental Burst, Hunter's Advance.

Profile

Tugarin originally lived in the tundras of Snezhnaya as a wild dog before he ran into Alyosha. Since food was scarce, Tugarin was starving and Alyosha gave him two pieces of sausage, as he was hunting a man-eating bear at the time. Grateful for his generosity, Tugarin managed to track Alyosha to his hiding spot and alerted the bear to their presence, forcing him to make a shot out of protective instinct to save Tugarin. The bear stumbled off and fled, and knowing the bear could still threaten him, he chased after the bear and killed it. By the time Alyosha caught up, Tugarin had finished the bear off, and at that point, Alyosha decided to adopt him.[2] Alyosha would train Tugarin to some success.

When the men that Alyosha trained began turning on innocents due to the supply strains of Project Stuzha, Alyosha had Tugarin remain behind with his parents while he dealt with the renegades before he returned to them. Eventually, Alatyr was abandoned and Tugarin accompanied his owner to Sretomorozsk. Alyosha later joined the Rokot, where he and Tugarin would frequently visit The Korolevskiy Theater. There, they became acquainted with Vodyanitsa, and since they had spent a fair amount of time together, he recognized her scent during a Rokot operation.[3]

While investigating Shishkin, Alyosha had Tugarin distract the Fatui in Sretomorozsk so he and the Traveler could investigate where the missing Kresnik Kristall had gone. He later managed to pick up a scent of the stash and led them to it, allowing Alyosha to alert the Fatui of the stolen goods.[4] They later investigated the tundra, discovering gang activity at an abandoned cabin. Tugarin was sent to scout the premises, reporting back to Alyosha, but because he couldn't count to ten, Alyosha had to do it himself. Inside, they found more fae arguing, and after driving them off, one returned threatening to blow the place up. Alyosha had Tugarin stay put while secretly ordering him to prepare an attack, after which the fae was subdued and the explosive disarmed.[5]

Appearance

Tugarin is a black and white husky with blue eyes. He wears a red scarf with white outlines on the left side of his fur collar.
