(Hollow) "The Town"

[Hollow] "The Town" is a story-exclusive Investigation Zone in (Hollow) Aerospace City. It is accessible during Season 2 Chapter 4: Memories of Dreams Bygone.

History

The town is situated in the depths of Timesworn Hills. Prior to the events of the main story, it was an empty town, presumably abandoned by any inhabitants. Eight years ago, a Defense Force soldier known as Ah-Deh was sent on a mission into Lemnian Hollow and ended up in the town. He was corrupted into an Ethereal, though not before manifesting a Drowned Ideal from his desire to spend more time with his daughter. He and the Drowned Ideal became known respectively as Wandering Hunter and Lantern Bearer.

Years later, Yidhari Murphy was brought to the town by the Exaltists, who sedated her and restrained her in the town auditorium. While Yidhari used her ability to recreate past illusions of the town, she subconsciously attached her desire to "watch others' stories" to it, and the town itself became Yidhari's Drowned Ideal. Eventually, other people found their way into the town and formed their own Drowned Ideals, while their physical bodies turned into Miasma cocoons.^[1]

During the events of Season 2 Chapter 4, Phaethon and others activated a purification device in the town, which freed all the townsfolk from their cocoons and caused their Drowned Ideals to cease existing.^[2] The illusion of the town also presumably disappeared after Yidhari left the area.
