Special Area

Special Areas are tiles that are typically found during the exploration of Hollow Zero.

Details

Landing on one of these tiles will transport the player to a limited-time zone that can only be attempted or explored while the player is in the specific zone. If the player leaves the zone, or fails the specific challenge, it will disappear and not be able to be re-attempted, until another Special Area Tile appears on the map.

Once a special area has been discovered and a successful exploration of Hollow Zero has been conducted, the area in question will be added to Ray's Research Log. Rewards can be obtained based on how many Special Areas have been discovered.

Special Areas are classified into 4 different types, denoted by the color attributed inside Ray's Research Log:

• Red: Denotes a "Challenge Area", whereby the player may find enemies with a high "threat level".
• Purple: Denotes a "Covenant Area", characterized by tiles that vastly increase the amount of Corruption, but also offer various rewards.
• Blue: Denotes a "Support Area", usually having special tiles such as Bangboo Merchants that offer unique items or larger discounts on items.
• Yellow: Denotes a "Reward Area", typically hosting valuable supplies, such as large quantities of Gear Coin.

Challenge Areas

There are 15 Special Area:

	Area Codename: 0011	Please pay attention to your surroundings. There are Ethereals in this area, but their threat level is quite low.
	Area Codename: 0012	Please prepare to enter combat at any moment. There are Ethereals in this area, and their threat level is high.
	Area Codename: 0016	This area used to be a supplies and trading hub, but it was abandoned due to corruption. Some usable supplies remain, but getting to them will be dangerous.
	Area Codename: 0044	"Please assist us by completing the identity verification." With Fairy's help, your identity remains incognito, but... "You don't seem to have the special permit needed for exploring Hollow Zero. Please check in with the Hollow Investigative Association before you come back." "This area is temporarily closed off to exploring due to a recent accident. Please head back the way you came, with the assistance of other on-site staff."
	Area Codename: UC-0015	"Target: Find the lost Bangboo. Entering the area on the right shall be deemed as accepting the commission."
	Scenario Type: D0001	Observation commission received from a nearby area. Scenario type: D0001. Target: Reach the designated location, stay there, and collect data. Enter the area on the right to accept the commission.
	Scenario Type: D0003	You are now in a Gear Coin recycling area. Scenario type: D0003. Target: Gather up all the Gear Coins in this area. Enter the area on the right to accept the commission.
	Scenario Type: UC-0002	Urgent commission received from a nearby area. Scenario type: UC-0002. Target: Escort the soldiers to the designated location. Enter the area on the right to accept the commission.
	Scenario Type: UC-0003	Urgent commission received from a nearby area. Scenario type: UC-0003. Target: Defeat the Golden Bangboo that stole all the Investigator's supplies. Enter the area on the right to accept the commission.
	Scenario Type: UC-0006	Urgent commission received from a nearby area. Scenario type: UC-0006. Target: Find the missing people. Enter the area on the right to accept the commission.
	Scenario Type: UC-0009	Urgent commission received from a nearby area. Scenario type: UC-0009. Target: Find the missing civilians. Enter the area on the right to accept the commission.
	Scenario Type: UC-0011	Urgent commission received from a nearby area. Scenario type: UC-0011. Target: Find the target item within this area. Enter the area on the right to accept the commission.
	Scenario Type: UC-0013	Urgent commission received from a nearby area. Scenario type: UC-0013. Target: Retrieve the supply box from the Ethereals. Enter the area on the right to accept the commission.
	Scenario Type: UC-0014	Urgent commission received from a nearby area. Scenario type: UC-0014. Target: Escort the wounded soldier to the designated location. Enter the area on the right to accept the commission.

Covenant Areas

	Area Codename: 0027	There are supplies in this area, but remember to not get greedy.
	Area Codename: 0030	There are supplies in this area, but an unknown creature has seized them. Best of luck retrieving them.
	Area Codename: 0032	I can only offer you a hint that this is an area where seemingly stupid actions may in fact be worthwhile.
	Area Codename: 0033	I can only offer you a hint that this is an area where violating norms in exploration might lead to some valuable finds.
	Area Codename: 0041	This area is highly susceptible to corruption. Every space you pass through will become corrupted. Do not backtrack.
	Area Codename: 0049	This area is highly susceptible to corruption. Everywhere you pass will be corrupted. Do not backtrack.
	Area Codename: 0066	There are combat supplies in this area, but they are not free to take. Please don't get greedy and act within your capabilities.
	Area Codename: BB-02	The Ace Bangboo Support Team is stationed in this area. They can help support your exploration.

Support Areas

	Area Codename: 0009	Area Info: If you see cheese, there's usually a trap below it. Hope you don't get lost when you flee in a panic. Good luck.
	Area Codename: 0015	Thank you for your contribution to Hollow exploration. You may select items from here for free, to your heart's content. But be careful: The device is undergoing maintenance and may break down.
	Area Codename: 0018	This area has an experimental trapdoor. Step on it to close the trapdoor over on the other side.
	Area Codename: 0026	There are facilities here that can reduce fatigue, as well as some other things.
	Area Codename: 0043	"Please note that your choice is final."
	Area Codename: 7777	"This area used to be an entertainment zone back in the day and still contains functional facilities. Pull that lucky lever and see what happens. Good luck!"

Unrecorded Areas

These areas are not recorded in Ray's Research Log, and will typically be one-time-only areas, awarding specific Lost Items from the Old Capital.
