Start Location

Start the quest by approaching the snow giant in the middle of the blizzard.

Steps

Approach the massive figure in the snowstorm
Investigate the chains binding the giant
- Chain #1:
  - Approach the location.
  - Defeat Chimeric Horned Bear ×1.
  - Follow the shadow and destroy the chains.
    - A Common Chest can be found behind the crates where the shadow was hiding.

  - Break the Prime Ice window using the Eye of Graeae's Fab-Vision.

  - Place a Grappling Gun to pull the hook on the wall.
    - Unlocks an Exquisite Chest.

Deep amidst the permafrost's howling blizzards, a towering silhouette suddenly catches your eye... Why is it bound to these icy plains by chains forged from pure snow and ice?

(Approach the starting location from afar): Paimon: Ugh, where did this storm come from...?

(Approach the snow giant): Paimon: Who knew we'd run into a big fella like that in the middle of a storm like this?; Paimon: Uhhhh... Good thing it seems to be stuck. Look at those weird chains on it...; Paimon: Poor fella... Shall we try to help, (‍Traveler‍)?

Chain #1

(Approach the location)

Paimon: Wait, what's this man-made monster doing here...?

(The camera zooms in on a nearby Chimeric Horned Bear)

(After defeating the enemy)

(A ghost-like figure emerges from behind some crates)

Paimon: Huh? There's a strange shadow over there...

Paimon: Ah, so the shadow couldn't approach because that monster was nearby...

(The shadow runs to the nearest chain and breaks its seal): Paimon: The seal on the chain's been broken... Looks like we can just smash the device that controls the chains...

(After breaking the chains): Paimon: These chains are undone...

Chain #2

(Approach the shadow next to the Launching Platform)

(The shadow jumps over the gap using the Launching Platform)

Paimon: Hmmm... Is there a way to get her over there?

(Place a Launching Platform in the marked location)

(The shadow jumps over and runs toward a window made out of Prime Ice)

Paimon: Is that little girl's shadow trying to pass through the window???

Paimon: Maybe... we need to break that Prime Ice window first...

(After breaking the window)

(The shadow runs into a corridor with two Snegurochka statues inside and kneels behind some crates)

Compassionate Voice: Lady Pavlina has ordered... not to allow that human girl to meet him... but that's too much. It's too cruel...

Cold Voice: What? Do you want to get Donskoy killed, then? His spirit was damaged during the war. He needs a long, peaceful sleep. We can't risk him losing control...

Paimon: Ah, there's a... Snegurochka statue here? The shadow seems super scared of it.

(After destroying the statues using the Eye of Graeae): Compassionate Voice: This way, milady, through this secret passage... Donskoy has entered a deep slumber, but if you take this hidden path... you can catch a glimpse of him...; Paimon: A secret passage? ... Ah. Behind that wall, maybe?

(Follow the shadow)

(Two Snegurochka statues with swords appear, trapping the shadow)

Paimon: Oh, that's bad! She's been blocked by that Snegurochka statue!

(After destroying the statues using the Eye of Graeae)

(The shadow runs toward the nearest chain and breaks its seal)

Paimon: Huh, the shadow's... broken the seal on that chain...

Paimon: Did she come through from that spot just to do that?

(After breaking the chains): Paimon: These chains are gone!

Chain #3

(Investigate the western door of the wooden cabin, optional)

Gate blocked by ice and snow: (The door is sealed by frozen snow... It doesn't budge an inch.)

Gate blocked by ice and snow: (But... you do hear a faint sound coming from behind that door.)

(Investigate the northern door of the wooden cabin, optional)

Gate blocked by ice and snow: (You can feel the chill even as you draw close... In this environment, ice and snow of such thickness simply will not melt.)

Gate blocked by ice and snow: (The faint sound of music seems closer now...)

(Approach the collapsed shed nearby): Paimon: Hmm, Paimon hears something... is it coming from that house?; Paimon: Could anyone still be in there? It's so cold out... Whoever it is, let's hope they're okay.

(Approach the hole in the ground beneath the shed): Paimon: Hmm. Is this... an opening that leads downward?

(Jump down, melt the layers of ice, and continue onward into the house where the shadow is sitting): Paimon: The only thing in the room is this strange shadow. Not a single person in sight...; Gentle Male Voice: Place the phonograph... beneath the picture frame... Let us dance once last time.

(Place the phonograph under the picture frame)

(The shadow moves to stand by the window in a ray of light)

Gentle Male Voice: If I do not return from battle... then... put it in my place... just as I once sang for you...

(Place the phonograph on the larger chair)

(The shadow moves to crouch down underneath the Temporary Blueprint)

Paimon: Ooh, the shadow's crouching down... seems like she's packing something up...

Paimon: Keep the phonograph beneath the cabinet?

(Place the phonograph beneath the cabinet in front of the shadow)

Paimon: She wanted to leave this place... is that why she packed the phonograph up?

(The ice on the door breaks, and the shadow leaves the house)

Paimon: Ah, and off she goes...

(Follow the shadow)

(The shadow runs toward the nearest chain and breaks its seal)

Paimon: The chain's seal has been broken...

Paimon: That shadow, she's been trapped... Is that why she couldn't break the seal on that chain?

(After breaking the chains): Paimon: These chains are broken. That must've been what that shadow wanted, right?

Chain #4

(Approach the Gate of the Sprouting Tsar's White Birch)

(A tutorial unlocks)

Gate of the Sprouting Tsar's White Birch: A door with the Tsar's White Birch growing nearby. When you approach it, the tree's branches will lean and seal off the door... Looks like you have to find another way to get through before the branches completely cover it.

(Place and use the Snowball Launcher to get through the gate): Paimon: The easel's totally empty... What does this shadow want to draw?

In Search of Inspiration

It seems that animals who enjoy warmth will not get close to Snegovik, due to the lower temperatures surrounding them.
But if we put the ice sculptures up nicely and draw on some real animals, I suppose that would count as fulfilling his wish, right?

(Place the Pale-Furred Wolf Construct and the Red-Bellied Plover Construct): Paimon: Huh? She's still not painting? ... Ooh, Paimon's got it. She wants to paint... a person surrounded by animals!; Paimon: Should we... try sitting on the chair?

(Sit on the chair)

(The shadow starts painting and an ice wall next to her breaks)

Paimon: Huh? That shadow that was just sitting here... She went outside. Is she heading somewhere?

Paimon: Hmm. Let's follow her and see...

(The shadow goes toward the chain and breaks its seal): Paimon: She... broke the seal on that chain?; Paimon: Does she want us to break the chain itself, or something...?

(After breaking the chains): Paimon: Alright. That's those chains broken...

(After breaking all four chains)

(The snow giant awakens and stands up, then slowly trudges off into the distance)

Paimon: ...That giant guy left.

Paimon: Hmm... Where could he have gone? And what about that girl's shadow? Paimon wonders how she's even connected to a giant guy like him...

Paimon: ...But honestly, Paimon has a feeling we're going to run into him somewhere else.
