Miscislav

Miscislav, also known as the Blood-Devourer, was the ruler of the Miscislavli Alliance and King of the Volkodlak. He was a major rival of Monomakh Snezhnyi, and his death at Monomakh's hands allowed Monomakh to consolidate his rule over Snezhnaya.[3]
Story
Miscislav was a Volkodlak of great stature, with his head being the size of a chariot. This earned him the name "Gorynishche", meaning "Son of the Mountain", by the fae. During the reign of Emperor Monomakh Snezhnyi of the Pale Star Court, Miscislav was king and head of the Miscislavli alliance. The fiefs of the Vila paid tribute to Miscislav.[3]
Eventually, Emperor Monomakh sent delegates to the fiefs, convincing them it was in their best interest to withhold their payments. Three years after this event, Miscislav accused Monomakh's people of violating the peace agreement between the two, and demanded reparations in the form of grain, gold and slaves for the next decade, totalling over thirty times that which the Vila would have paid him. Many speculated, even into the modern day, that Miscislav had done so to deliberately provoke a war due to fearing the Pale Star court's rapid growth, hoping to remove them from play. Monomakh refused to honor Miscislav's demands, and the two sides prepared for war.[3]
A year later, Miscislav gathered an alliance of Miscislavli clans, the Nyholmgarthir, the Dalegrad and the Cirnareka. The alliance descended upon Kitezh, but the war, consisting of three main campaigns, would prove disastrous for them due to a series of tactical errors and bad weather. During the third campaign, Miscislav was slain by Monomakh when the latter hurled his spear at the Volkodlak king, percing his skull and killing him.[3]
With the end of the war, Monomakh christened himself the Belyi Tsar and became the undisputed leader of Snezhnaya. Meanwhile, Miscislav's skull was stored in the Zapolyarny Palace Treasury. According to legend, Miscislav had attempted to invoke the power of the Shadow Realm in the final battle.[3] Miscislav's family survived and continue to exist into the modern day, once holding some amount of power during the reign of the Tsar. Bogatov is one of these descendants.[2]

- Viliana's partner during the Spirit Envoy Championship is also referred to as "Gorynishche". It's possible she named it after him.
Etymology
- Mścisław is a Polish variation of the Russian Mstislav, coming from "to avenge" and "glory."
- Gorynishche is an alternative epithet for the Zmei Gorynych, a dragon from Russian folklore, which means "the one who burns" or "out of the mountain."
