Stygian Onslaught
Last updated 2026-07-14
Stygian Onslaught is a permanent challenge event.
Overview
Stygian Onslaught is accessed at Sal Terrae, Liyue. It is unlocked by completing the World Quest Tumult Subduer, which is unlocked by reaching Adventure Rank 20, completing Archon Quest Prologue: Act III - Song of the Dragon and Freedom. Complete the recommended quest Interlude Chapter: Act II - Perilous Trail for the best experience. Historically, it starts at a week after Version release on Wednesday, along with Disturbance Outbreak that last for 10 days.
In this mode, the player must fight three powerful enemies, either a Normal Boss or Local Legend equivalent in three separate battlefields. The player must also defeat the enemy within a specific amount of time.
There are six difficulties that the player can access:
| Difficulty | Enemy Level |
|---|---|
| Normal Challenge | |
| Normal | 40 |
| Advancing | 70 |
| Hard | 90 |
| Menacing | 100 |
| Fearless | 105 |
| Perilous Challenge | |
| Dire | 110 |
Players have 10 minutes to clear each individual boss on Hard and lower, reduced to 2 minutes at Menacing and higher.
On Menacing, Fearless and Dire difficulties, the player will not be able to select a single character to be deployed multiple times. If the stage was already cleared and the player attempts to swap a character that participated in that stage into another or a character is using a weapon or artifact(s) that another character that cleared a stage had used, the game will warn the player beforehand, and confirming the selection after the warning will cause the previous record to be wiped. One-time rewards can still be claimed provided that the difficulty was already cleared before the change occurred.
At Fearless and Dire difficulties, the enemy will be granted a new and/or modified mechanic. In most cases, these mechanics are usually a boon to the player, as dealing with them will provide benefits such as dealing a large amount of DMG back onto them or providing large amounts of energy for the team in spite of the higher health.
At all difficulties except Dire, a few characters are offered as Exalted Ones, which increases their HP, ATK and DEF by 20%. Up to sixteen characters can be given the status of Exalted One, and several are provided at the start of each season. This bonus stacks alongside that from the Imaginarium Theater.
When a stage is attempted, the player is temporarily locked in a small box. Their characters will additionally have no Energy/Special Energy.
The player can attempt the challenge in Co-Op Mode with other players. Hard and lower can be Co-Op'ed through normal matchmaking, while Menacing and higher requires the player(s) to be invited by the host into their world before doing so, and players will be unable to obtain rewards from Fearless or Dire in Co-Op, as they must be completed solo.
Although Stygian Onslaught is fought in a domain and may contain bosses, they do not count towards the respective Battle Pass tasks regarding bosses and domain counts.
When completing the challenge, no menus can be opened. When in the rewards claiming and preparation stage, only the Character Menu and Inventory > Artifacts can be accessed.
After completing Dire difficulty alone, the parties used in the stages will be granted "Eminence." If attempting Dire challenges with the party, they will obtain "Enduring Eminence" instead, though they do not stack and will replace each other out depending on which comes first. When a character has obtained enough Eminence from many players using them, they will become an Exalted One, granting them the HP, ATK and DEF buffs for lower difficulties. These are checked every day on reset, and are accounted separately for each server.
As with the Imaginarium Theater and Spiral Abyss, the higher stages of Styigan Onslaught require well-built and synergized teams. On Fearless and Dire, well-built and invested teams are essentially mandatory in order to meet the reward targets on time. Particularly strong teams can clear Fearless without much issue, however meeting all reward requirements on Dire usually require team members to have most if not all Constellations unlocked because of the significant jump between it and Fearless.
Rewards
Disturbance Outbreak
For the first ten days of the Stygian Onslaught, it will be in a Disturbance Outbreak state in which players can obtain artifacts similar to completing a Domain of Blessing if a stage is completed on Hard or higher difficulty. They may select the artifacts that they wish to acquire by selecting the "Rewards Settings" option. Players can use Original Resin, Condensed Resin, Fragile Resin or Transient Resin to claim rewards. In order to claim rewards in this manner, the player must have an Adventure Rank of 45 or higher. Additionally, players must have visited the corresponding domain at least once before it can be selected as a reward option.
During the outbreak, players gain Dire Prestige when claiming rewards from the outbreak. 20 is given for Original Resin and 60 for Condensed, Transient or Fragile Resin. When the player has obtained 120 Dire Prestige, an additional artifact will be rewarded. There is no limit to Dire Prestige. Players who have the resin are highly recommended to farm artifacts through disturbance outbreaks, as with ideal teams, players can complete the stage and reset it much faster compared to their original source, especially when it comes to those released before Version 2.0 due to the distance between the challenge and reward points. Once the player has obtained 1200 Dire Prestige, a one-time reward of Dust of Enlightenment is given.
The player's best attempt will also be listed on their profile, prioritizing difficulty over the time it took to clear them.
Challenge Rewards
These can be claimed at any point during the Onslaught's duration.
The Radiant Phantasm are not permanent rewards, instead only available until next iteration of Stygian Onslaught is released. These are purely cosmetic rewards which override the appearance of a character's wielded weapon.

Gameplay Notes
- At Menacing and higher difficulties,[only verified for Menacing] when the player enters any battlefield that is currently displayed in their records, the character attributes (characters' levels and Constellation Levels as well as the Traveler's current element) that are displayed there will update as follows:
- All characters' attributes will update to what they were when the player enters Stygian Onslaught.
- This applies even if the player then exits or fails the attempted fight.
- This applies even if the player makes no changes to any of their teams.
- Upgrades made after entering the Stygian Onslaught domain are not included in this particular update to characters' attributes.
- If the player then successfully clears the battlefield such that it results in a better clear, then the characters who were used in that particular battlefield will have their attributes fully updated, including any upgrades that were made after the player entered Stygian Onslaught.
- As a result, characters' levels and Constellation Levels as well as the Traveler's current element as displayed in players' records may not match what they actually were when each battlefield was cleared.
- All characters' attributes will update to what they were when the player enters Stygian Onslaught.

There can be a maximum of 16 "Exalted Ones" at any one time, and when data updates occur, characters with the most "Eminence" will become the new "Exalted Ones."

Co-Op challenge results will be recorded separately, and you can check said records at any time. However, only Single-Player Mode challenge records can be displayed.

When you accumulate 1,200 "Dire Prestige," you will also obtain an additional "Dire Commendation."
- Normal, Advancing, and Hard
- Menacing, Fearless, and Dire

Descriptions
Reward Setting and Collection
1. Before the challenge, players can choose a Domain of Blessing they have unlocked. The highest-level drops from that Domain will be the challenge rewards.
2. In "Hard," "Menacing," "Fearless," or "Dire" difficulty challenges, a special disturbance-affected Ley Line Blossom will appear. Players with Adventure Rank 45 and above can consume Original Resin to revitalize such Ley Line Blossoms and claim the corresponding rewards. Additionally, they can receive double the rewards by consuming Condensed Resin to revitalize Ley Line Blossoms. Consuming Fragile Resin or Transient Resin will allow players to receive triple the rewards.
Dire Prestige
1. During challenges, players can consume Original Resin, Condensed Resin, and Fragile Resin (or Transient Resin) to accumulate 20/40/60 "Dire Prestige" respectively.
2. When "Dire Prestige" reaches 120, an additional random 5-star Artifact will be obtained from the two sets available in the Domain selected by the player as a phase reward.
3. When "Dire Prestige" reaches 1,200, an additional "Dire Commendation" can be obtained.
Friendship
1. When activating a Ley Line Blossom, the character(s) active when the battle is completed will obtain Companionship EXP.
2. If at least 2 players are on the challenge team, the participating character(s) will gain 100% more Companionship EXP.
1. For every cycle of "Stygian Onslaught," the results of Single-Player and Co-Op challenges will be recorded separately.
2. Best records will only record your highest-difficulty challenge performance for the current cycle. For records with the same difficulty, the one with the shortest total clearance time will be recorded. If both clearance time and difficulty are identical, then the most recent attempt will be recorded.
Checking Friends' Battle Records
1. You can view friends' single-player challenge records.
2. When viewing a friend's records, if a record is from the current period's "Menacing" difficulty or higher, you can also view the weapon and Artifact configurations for characters in their party.
The disordered disturbance has been subdued...
It seems far from certain that the Ley Line Disturbance won't one day re-emerge...
