Official Introduction

Should you suddenly find the contents of my plate replaced with lemon slices, or doodles drawn on the bottom of my teacup... Don't make a fuss — rather, turn a blind eye. The greater the reaction to these pranks, the more delighted she who hides in the shadows will be.

—Head Housemaid Danica, cautioning the new maids of Zapolyarny Palace

In Snezhnaya, the clan name "Strivozha" is one of certain importance.

This ancient Vila bloodline, which was already in existence long before Snezhnaya's turbulent early days, has weathered countless storms and earned countless honors over the years.

Vesna is evidently worthy of the name. Radiant and graceful, she exudes effortless refinement and quiet poise... well, at least most of the time.

A veritable free spirit, she refuses to be bound by the norms of polite society. This can often lead to surprising antics. Sometimes, she drives the train at such reckless speeds that all it leaves behind is a blur — and a reprimand waiting for her at the end of the line. At other moments, she carefully, meticulously, scrupulously slips a chosen slice of sour lemon onto a colleague's plate...

But no one would ever question Vesna's virtue or honor, for they come from her sword rather than superficial mores and gestures.

The Druzhna is the blade wielded by the Tsaritsa herself, and Vesna is its keenest edge.

Vesna isn't considered particularly old among the Vila. If anything, she is almost too young by half. In fact, when she first joined the Druzhna, she was known as "that little lass from House Strivozha," though that title was soon forgotten as she started to speak for herself with her skills and accomplishments.

By the time she officially took over as Commander-in-chief of the Druzhna, the name "Vesna" already shone so brightly that people had forgotten the "Strivozha" that followed it.

Now, after generations, this formidable family name has found an even more formidable bearer of its legacy.

Maybe for Vesna herself, her true glory lies not in her family name, nor in her remarkable talents, but in her own unwavering faith:

For the Tsaritsa, and for Snezhnaya.

So it was in the past, and so it shall be in the future. Just like the ancient glaciers, no wind, however capricious, can change this.

Character Voice-Overs

CharacterVoice-Overs
  • About the Fae of Snezhnaya
Paimon: Out of all the common varieties of fae in Snezhnaya, Snegoviks probably look the most like humans, right?
(‍Traveler‍): Yes and no. Strictly speaking, it's their female counterparts, the Snegurochka, that bear a closer resemblance.
Paimon: Right, right. And actually, the Vila probably wouldn't stand out in a crowd of humans either if it wasn't for their pointy ears.
(‍Traveler‍): But anyway, in general, fae seem pretty well integrated in Snezhnayan society. Some even hold really high-ranking positions.
(‍Traveler‍): Like the mayor, for instance. Well, we know him better as the Fatui Harbinger "The Rooster," Pulcinella. He's actually a Domovoy.
(‍Traveler‍): Also Vesna, the head of the Druzhna, is a Vila. She answers directly to the Tsaritsa and is one of her most capable assistants.
(‍Traveler‍): Even the prima donna of the Korolevskiy Troupe is a fae. Vodyanitsa is a Water Imp.
Paimon: So fae in Snezhnaya are kinda like the Melusines in Fontaine. An integral part of the nation.
(‍Traveler‍): Of course. Let's not forget, there are records of fae dating as far back as the Hyperborean era. Before "Snezhnaya" even existed, the fae already inhabited the tundra.
Paimon: Wait, so the fae were actually the original inhabitants?
Paimon: Huh... That kinda changes things. What if... what if, back in the day, the greedy humans invaded the fae's territory and enslaved them to do their bidding...
Paimon: Then, over many years of swallowing their pride and lying low, the fae slowly infiltrated all the important human institutions, gradually climbing to the top of the power hierarchy and getting ready to strike back...
Paimon: One day soon, they'll finally be able to declare: "O Tundra, I have returned!"
(‍Traveler‍): Stop, stop, stop! You do know what this sounds like, don't you?
Paimon: Oh, whoops, sorry... Didn't mean it like that... Nobody heard, right? It's just a classic trope in novels, that's all...
