Aedon

Aedon is Illuga's nightingale companion.^[1] He^[2] is an NPC exclusive to World Quest Series Nightingale's Song.

In combat, Aedon assists Illuga when called upon by Illuga's Elemental Skill, Dawnbearing Songbird.

Profile

According to Alia, Aedon was once a nightingale companion of Solovei the Torchforger who followed him from their homeland to Nod-Krai. When Solovei discarded his family name to drive him away, Alia took a pity on him and took him in. Eventually when Alia threw herself into SAMPO to stop Rauthvangi, he was also dragged along with her, transforming him into a Kuuvahki being.^[1]

Aedon would eventually come upon Illuga when the latter got lost within the Wild Hunt's fog during a mission^[3] and became inseparable since then.^[4] When Illuga met Linnea for the first time, the fae "jumped" on him, traumatizing Aedon. Upon hearing her voice, Aedon instinctively hides in Illuga's lamp.^[2]

Appearance

Aedon has the appearance of a golden nightingale. Paimon noted that he is gold and shiny like a pile of Mora.^[1] He is apparently shiny enough to substitute for a lantern.^[4]

Powers and Abilities

When in battle, Illuga can summon Aedon from his lantern who then dashes forward piercing through Illuga's opponents dealing Geo damage. Illuga can also aim his flight path.

Aedon is also capable of revealing paths hidden by Kuuvahki,^[1] dispel the fog of The Wild Hunt,^[5] and transfer his own kuuvahki energy to people.^[6]

• Aedon seems to be able to understand human speech. Whether or not this is because of the changes caused by SAMPO is currently unknown.

Etymology

• Aedon (ἀηδών) means 'nightingale' in Ancient Greek. It's also the name of the daughter Pandareus of Ephesus, Aëdon.
