Azhdaha (Weekly Boss)

Last updated 2026-08-17

Azhdaha is a Weekly Boss challenge found in Beneath the Dragon-Queller.

Rules

  • Trounce Domains contain unusually powerful opponents. After successfully completing the challenge, you can obtain abundant rewards.
  • Players can complete this domain as many times as they want, but can only collect rewards once per week by using 30 Original Resin to open the Ley Line Blossom for the first three Weekly Bosses, and 60 Original Resin subsequently. Rewards are refreshed with Weekly World Reset.

Ley Line Disorder

When Azhdaha's Cryo, Pyro, Electro, and Hydro attacks hit characters who are not under the protection of a shield, that character will be marked. Marked characters will continuously take Elemental DMG.

Rewards

Claiming the Trounce Blossom for Original Resin Original Resin ×60 (or 30 for the first 3 Weekly Boss claims of the week) after defeating the boss offers the following possible rewards:

Other than Prithiva Topaz Geo, the possible Ascension Gems obtained depend on the Elements Azhdaha infuses.

Elements

The four elements which can be infused by Azhdaha are Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, and Electro; each infused element produces different effects.

  • The Pyro element enhances his attack radius and demands better character positioning
  • The Hydro element focuses on projectiles and ranged attacks
  • The Cryo element unleashes simultaneous attacks and increases the risk of elemental reactions
  • The Electro element is tailored around evasion and precision.[4]

Azhdaha infuses the first element, either Hydro or Pyro, when he reaches 75% HP. He infuses a second element, either Electro or Cryo, upon reaching 45% HP. Damage dealt by Azhdaha will be converted to the respective elemental damage after triggering Elemental Infusion. After the second element is absorbed, all damage done by Azhdaha is considered elemental damage and will mark the current character until the element is dispelled.

The elemental combination can be seen on the seal of the domain, and the element color will also be reflected on several of his body parts, such as his paws for the first element and his tail for the second element. The elemental combination changes every week based on a fixed rotation.

  • Cryo: DMG type converted to Cryo; DMG reduced to 23.3% ATK and 46.6% ATK. (Phase 3)
Burrow

Azhdaha also deals 66.6% ATK as Geo DMG every time he resurfaces to players in his path. When Azhdaha stops burrowing in all phases, he will deal 8.3% ATK as Physical DMG to characters around him. In Phases 2 or 3, he may burrow to the center of the arena in order to perform certain attacks; when he performs this attack in this way, he will skip the falling rock phase and immediately resurface at the center of the arena.

Strategy
Stay at the edge of the arena to avoid being targeted by the resurface attack.

Primeval Spring
Description
Spawns a line of Elemental-infused stones towards the target. The stones will explode shortly upon impact. The impact and explosion deal 16.6% ATK and 33.3% ATK respectively as Geo DMG. The starting point of the barrage is opposite from where Azhdaha is facing, relative to the player's position.
  • Electro: Explodes on impact while releasing small thunderstrokes that expand outwards from the initial AoE, dealing 33.3% ATK as Electro DMG. (Phase 3)
  • Cryo: Explodes on impact, dealing 23.3% ATK as Cryo DMG and leaves raining ice shards upon impact, dealing 11.6% ATK as Cryo DoT to characters in the affected area for a period of time. (Phase 3)
Strategy
  • Electro: Stay at the center of the strike zone and dash i-frame as soon as the stone lands. The initial landing of the stones will not deal DMG, and only the thunderstrokes need to be i-framed. Alternatively, run in one direction to cause the stones to target farther in front of the character, and immediately turn back and run away when the mark appears.
  • Cryo: Simply running at full speed will allow the player to escape the areas of effect.

Phase 2: Single Elemental Infusion

Azhdaha can still use any ability from Phase 1. These Phase 1 abilities will be infused with the current infused Element.

Phase Transition
Upon reaching 75% HP, Azhdaha performs Tremors before entering a brief invulnerability phase and infuses an element (Hydro or Pyro), gaining an additional 60% Elemental Resistance to this infused Element, resulting in a total of 70% Elemental Resistance to this element. Azhdaha cannot be damaged past 65% HP before entering Phase 2.
Pyro/Hydro Mark
Description
When Azhdaha deals Pyro or Hydro DMG to an unshielded character, a mark will appear on that character that persists for as long as that character is affected by that element. While this mark is in effect, it deals 13.3% ATK as Pyro or Hydro DMG to affected characters.

Strategy
A shield is all that is needed to avoid the effects of this mark. Alternatively, avoid getting hit by any attacks that can apply a mark.

Tremors
Description
Slams his legs unto earth, unleashing continuous shockwaves around him for 5 times and ending with one final huge shockwave. The first 5 shockwaves each deal 50% ATK and the final shockwave deals 66.6% ATK, as Geo DMG. Azhdaha only uses Tremors during a phase transition and intermittently in infused phases. This attack cannot be avoided using dash i-frames and pushes nearby players away from him.
  • Hydro: DMG type converted into Hydro; DMG reduced to 33.3% ATK and 46.6% ATK; AoE increased; Launches water streams in multiple direction from Azhdaha's location, each dealing 16.6% ATK as Hydro DMG on hit.
  • Pyro: DMG type converted into Pyro; DMG reduced to 33.3% ATK and 46.6% ATK; AoE increased; Fires several fireballs into the air that will hit the ground randomly, dealing 16.6% ATK as Pyro DMG and leaving a burning mark, which deals 11.6% ATK as Pyro DoT.

Strategy
Run away from Azhdaha as soon as he shakes his body and slowly raises his right leg.

The King's Rebuke
Description
Roars and initiates a large AoE attack of the infused element.
  • Torrential Rebuke (Hydro): Summons several moving large Hydro orbs, that will slowly rotate around the arena and deal 50% ATK as Hydro DoT upon impact.
  • Blazing Rebuke (Pyro): Summons several meteors that fall from the sky, dealing 100% ATK as Pyro DMG. The meteors each leaves a burning mark, which deals 11.6% ATK as Pyro DoT.

Strategy
The center of the arena is safe from the Hydro version of this attack.

Phase 3: Dual Elemental Infusion

Azhdaha can still use any ability from Phases 1 and 2. These Phase 1 or 2 abilities will be infused with the corresponding elements.

Phase Transition
Upon reaching 45% HP, Azhdaha performs Tremors before entering a brief invulnerability phase and infuses an element (Electro or Cryo), gaining an additional 50% Elemental Resistance to this infused Element, resulting in a total of 60% Elemental Resistance to this element. Azhdaha cannot be damaged past 35% HP before entering Phase 3.
Electro/Cryo Mark
Description
When Azhdaha deals Electro or Cryo DMG to an unshielded character, a mark will appear on that character that persists for as long as that character is affected by that element. While this mark is in effect, it deals 13.3% ATK as Electro or Cryo DMG to affected characters.

Strategy
A shield is all that is needed to avoid the effects of this mark. Alternatively, avoid getting hit by any attacks that can apply a mark.

Moonlit Wave
Description
Submerges underground while leaving his tail on the surface. Azhdaha cannot be killed in this state, but can still be damaged. If Azhdaha's HP reaches 0 in during this attack, one extra hit will be required to kill him once he reappears above ground.
  • Thunderstorm Wave (Electro): The tail will periodically zap parts of the arena in a cone AoE that changes after every occurrence of this attack, dealing 100% ATK as Electro DMG. Targeted areas are indicated with a purple AoE.
  • Frostspike Wave (Cryo): The tail will unleash a massive hailstorm around it. The fallen ice chunks will explode upon impact, followed by circular Ice Spikes that will pulse thrice in the affected area. Each pulse deals 33.3% ATK as Cryo DMG.
Strategy
  • Electro: Stay near the center of the arena to more easily move to the next safe zone.
  • Cryo: Areas closer to the edge of the arena are less frequently targeted. When targeted, take the shortest path out of the AoE. Note that the actual AoE of the initial strike is circular and not accurately represented by the marks.
Thunder Sphere
Description
Forms several Thunder Spheres and launches them towards the target, each dealing 46.6% ATK as Electro DMG.

Strategy
Run away from Azhdaha as soon as this attack begins to more easily evade the orbs.

Fractal Lance
Description
Forms a Cryo Sphere in the air, that will then periodically summon 4 crystal lances 5 times, homing towards the target, dealing 46.6% ATK as Cryo DMG on hit.

Strategy
Run away from Azhdaha as soon as this attack begins and run around the edge of the arena. Pay attention to the floating sphere for the full duration of the attack.

Strategy

The Pyro (bottom) and Cryo (top) sigils at the domain's entrance.

The Pyro (bottom) and Cryo (top) sigils at the domain's entrance.

Before entering the Trounce Domain, players should check the two symbols on the entrance and assemble their party accordingly, as Azhdaha will infuse himself with the elements corresponding to those sigils and gain high resistances to them. See Elements for each elemental symbol.

In all phases, it is advisable to attack him from the front or the back, but never from the side. Attacking from the side triggers the sideways Body Slam attack, which has a large AoE and cannot be countered by sprinting i-frame.

In phases 2 and 3, unless protected by a shield it is not advised to utilize Elemental Burst i-frames to avoid damage, as the effects of the Ley Line Disorder will still apply on hit even if the player is in an Elemental Burst animation.

Character Recommendations

  • Characters that can create shields, while not essential, are extremely helpful to have in this fight, as it will prevent the highly lethal elemental mark from being applied.
  • Healers are an effective means of improving survivability.
  • Due to the high DMG of many of Azhdaha's attacks, it is still important to avoid as many of Azhdaha's attacks as possible even with shields and healing.
  • Characters with abilities with large hitboxes can deal extended damage thanks to his massive body.
  • In general, Bow and Catalyst users are safe for dealing damage at a distance.
  • As Azhdaha gains Elemental RES to his infused Elements (including his innate Geo RES), using damage dealers of other elements can avoid prolonging the fight. Anemo characters equipped with the 4 piece Viridescent Venerer artifact set, or talents that decrease enemy Elemental RES such as Zhongli's Dominus Lapidis can also help counter the increased Elemental RES.
  • Anemo and Dendro characters can completely ignore Azhdaha's resistances gained from phase transformations due to him never infusing Anemo or Dendro.
  • Triggering certain elemental reactions on the character can completely remove the elemental mark without generating a shield. Anemo can remove all of the elemental marks, Electro can remove the Cryo mark, Pyro can remove the Hydro, Cryo, and Electro marks, and Hydro can remove the Pyro and Cryo marks.
  • Fast runners, such as tall male characters and characters with access to Alternate Sprints may be helpful against Azhdaha's AoE attack spams.

An enormous dragon as ancient as the mountains themselves. In an age that has all but faded from memory, he stood shoulder to shoulder with one who ruled over a harbor of stone. But in the end, the two came into conflict, and the dragon was banished to a dark place deep underground.
Over the long years of his imprisonment, his power has slowly dissipated. He has also become disfigured from the various kinds of erosion he has been subjected to.
The faint rattling of this dragon lord's shackles and his deep, angry growl echo through the bowels of the mountains like memories of a bygone era.

Trivia

  • Surrounding the "arena" where Azhdaha is sealed, and around the forcefield that Azhdaha breaks out of when combat begins, stand a large number of Stone Steles, which have the same markings as those created by Zhongli's Elemental Skill. Unlike those other Steles, the ones surrounding the arena no longer seem to be functioning and show signs of heavy erosion, some having to be held up by chains.
  • The element symbols marked on the entrance are written in the Liyue script, based on the Chinese characters for each element.
    • These symbols are also used as particle effects in his infused states.
  • The boss fight was originally supposed to have all 12 possible combinations of Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, and Electro, but this was dropped during development because it was too challenging in terms of the color schemes, special effects, and processing power.[4]
