Diminished Seventh Arpeggio

Diminished Seventh Arpeggio, real name Budanova, is an event-exclusive NPC who appeared in the event Trials of the Brave Warrior.

Profile

Budanova is a Frost Operative and swordsmanship instructor who serves under the Fourth of the Fatui Harbingers, Arlecchino. She is fond of playing symphonies while training her students, and tends to land the final strike on a certain chord, presumably the diminished seventh arpeggio.

After the events of True Moon, Budanova's company was sent to Nod-Krai to support the forces of the Seventh Harbinger, Sandrone, who had sustained heavy losses at the hands of Rerir and Dottore.

During the Trials of the Brave Warrior event, her company was preparing to return to their regular post in Fontaine, so she was given block leave. This luckily coincided with the Technical Martial Challenge, and she was able to enter the competition, where she placed as a finalist alongside Onyx Agate and Gaumaru. Like her fellow finalists, she dueled the Traveler, after which the player could choose to award her the championship title.

Budanova has a measured, genteel personality and a penchant for sweets.

She is rumored to have been childhood friends and close colleagues with the Local Legend Yseut, although they parted ways some years ago for unknown reasons. The two are considered equal in strength by the lower ranks of the Fatui, who have long debated who would win in a fight.

Budanova's family are fishermen from Morepesok. She regularly exchanges letters with her younger sister, Chichikova, to whom she sends plenty of spending money and clothing. According to Chichikova, Budanova joined the Fatui with honors when the former was "too little to remember anything" because of her outstanding physical prowess.^[2]
