Five Sinners of Khaenri'ah
Last updated 2026-09-10
The Five Sinners of Khaenri'ah are five individuals from Khaenri'ah who gained immense power from the Abyss.
Overview
The Five Sinners were once five individuals of great esteem in Khaenri'ah and were considered the best of their peers. Dainsleif claims that if he and the five had worked together, they could have stopped Irmin from rocking the foundations of Teyvat. Yet they could not resist the call of the Abyss and each of them stole one sixth[1] of the "world-shattering" Abyssal power that Irmin had the Traveler's Sibling absorb.[2][3] Thus they became sinners but also transcendent beings with "world-shattering power." According to Capitano, it was their ''exploitation of Abyssal power'' which made Ronova curse full-blooded Khaenri'ahns with immortality.[4] Yet, when the cataclysm occurred, none of them came to defend Khaenri'ah.[5]
After the cataclysm, the Five appear to have separated. Three of them (Rhinedottir, Vedrfolnir and Surtalogi) are mentioned by Skirk as "pursuing some form of perfection,"[6]

Trivia
- Much like the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, when a Sinner appears in-game for the first time, a dramatic still is shown, displaying the Sinner's name and title.
- As Vedrfolnir and Surtalogi have only appeared as voices or in flashbacks, their dramatic stills have not been shown.
- Each of the five Weapon Appearances available from Stygian Onslaught reference a Sinner, suggesting each Sinner once wielded a unique weapon from an ancient land.
- Hroptatyr wielded the claymore Ardent Storm, once named "Starkuthr," which glimmers with the power of "Reason."[18][19]
- Vedrfolnir wielded the catalyst Hallowed Fetters, once named "Gleipnir," which glimmers with the power of "Time."[14][15]
- Rhinedottir wielded the sword Serpent Devourer, once named "Logseims," which glimmers with the power of "Life."[7][8]
- Rerir wielded the polearm Shattered Moon, once named "Barnstokkr," which glimmers with the power of "Death."[11][12]
- Surtalogi wielded the bow Starpiercer, once named "Gusisnautar," which glimmers with the power of "Void."[16][17]
- While Surtalogi is often depicted with a claymore-like weapon, Starpiercer's description implies he is also proficient with bows.
Notes
- ↑ Trapped within the Moon’s reflection, unable to return.
