Summary
- All Is Foretold
Arriving at the secret base with Columbina in tow, the Traveler and Paimon catch up with the rest of the group. Flins is in a good mood and reveals that while he was quelling the Wild Hunt, he came across two young men who assisted him in battle, revealed to be Albedo and another mysterious man. Albedo tells him to introduce himself, and the Traveler recognizes him as Mini Durin from Simulanka. Arlecchino soon arrives, though she states that she was simply here to accompany her friend and leaves to talk with Sandrone at the Kuuvahki Experimental Design Bureau.
Back in the base, Varka reveals another person who wanted to help them: Dainsleif, who Paimon introduces to the rest of the group as a noble from Khaenri'ah. While waiting for Nefer to arrive, the group partakes in small talk. Nefer finally arrives and is immediately suspicious of Dainsleif due to his Khaenri'ahn heritage and wonders how he was even alive. Dainsleif asks her to help investigate Rerir's past, explaining how the Five Sinners of Khaenri'ah came to be. However, he does not know why Rerir joined them, as he knew he had no grand ambitions of his own. The Traveler then explains their activities with Columbina and Arlecchino. Though all three Moon Marrows are in their possession, Columbina states that it isn't enough to overpower Rerir.
After the meeting, the Traveler and Paimon book a room for Dainsleif before meeting with Nefer at the Curatorium, where she reveals to them that they were invited to partake in the operation as Dainsleif was confident they would keep the information a secret. Along with Jahoda and Lauma, they venture into Rerir's past once more, discovering the duties he performed for King Irmin before suddenly discovering he was to eliminate his own fiancée, Tholindis. This resulted in his next target, Frithr, being spared, as he had become disillusioned with Irmin's directives. Later on, Dainsleif approached Rerir and asked him to help free his brother Vedrfolnir, who had been imprisoned by Irmin for giving him a bad prophecy. The operation would be assisted by the rest of the group; Surtalogi, Rhinedottir and Hroptatyr.
While Dainsleif and Surtalogi fought the royal guards, Rhinedottir and Hroptatyr would disable the security systems and Rerir was tasked with breaking Vedrfolnir out. When he arrived, Rerir asked Vedrfolnir if he knew about the prophecy, but he did not, though the two had heard the same voice. Before leaving, Vedrfolnir told Rerir to head to the Universitas Magistrorum, who realized Tholindis was there and in danger. When he arrived to rescue her, he found her standing in front of a portal; she had learned the truth and proceeded to fall into it so he could live a normal life. Rerir fell into despair and wanting to reunite with her, accepted the voice's offer to partake in a power and explaining how he became a Sinner.
- Dance of Death: Serpent and Scorpion
With the ritual seemingly successful, Nefer attempts to leave the Curatorium, only to find herself in a desert alongside the others. Immediately realizing something was wrong, Nefer orders the rest to stay with her as they explore the new domain, which reveals Nefer's past as an Eremite who lived in the desert as an adopted child under Sinuhe, the leader of the Shimti tribe. Sinuhe unintentionally caused the tribe's demise to the Iab tribe after taking water from one of their wells, who annihilated the tribe in response to the theft. Nefer later arrived at Aaru Village, where Uncle Anpu had the Sumeru Akademiya invite her after bringing a Mahamata to investigate her talent. In the Akademiya, Nefer learned the truth; the letter her adoptive father had sent was not even acknowledged by them, and she left in order to get revenge on the tribes that killed her family.
They later arrive at a temple which Nefer explains she discovered after returning to her hometown and that Thoth, one of the Seven Pillars of King Deshret, resided in. As they approach the entrance, Ashru appears and Nefer strokes him, only for Ashru to suddenly turn into an abyssal entity that grabs Nefer by her throat. More hands emerge to stop the others from intervening as Rerir manifests, proclaiming that she had seen too much and prepares to kill her. But before he could do so, he is interrupted by an unknown attack from above before the group is teleported away. Back in reality, the group finds Columbina and Dainsleif before Nefer's chessbox begins to violently shake. She immediately applies Dendro restraints onto it.
- Echoes of Fate
With Rerir temporarily restrained in the chessbox, the group makes preparations for their conflict with him. As the seal begins to break, the group battles Rerir, who expels Lauma, Aino and Flins, as he wishes to settle his vendetta against Nefer for prying into his past. As he charges up a powerful attack, Albedo and Durin set up an alchemical array to siphon his power into Columbina. With the newly converted power, Columbina is able to overpower Rerir and opens a moon gate. Rerir believes Columbina is unable to hold both him and the gate at once, to which the Moon Goddess responds by remarking that someone else does before flicking him into it. To his horror, he discovers Dainsleif maintaining the gate as he is flicked inside and thrown out of Teyvat.
As a result of goading Rerir into using his full power, Nefer's eyes are temporarily blinded and she is escorted away by Lauma for treatment. The following day, the group reunites at the Flagship to celebrate their victory. After speaking to everyone present, the Traveler heads to the bureau, finding Columbina having finished a conversation with Sandrone. Sandrone is slightly peeved that the Traveler was coming to check-in on her before she gives them a tea and a notebook to use as a coaster. She then remarks about the Lord-Artificer, who the Traveler recognizes as Alain Guillotin. The name prompts Sandrone to talk about his past, asking what Traveler thought of his actions. After hearing their response, she tells them to do whatever they wanted before beginning maintenance on Pulonia.
