Ruan Mei (Chinese: 阮•梅) is a playable character in Honkai: Star Rail.

A sweet-tempered and elegant scholar, and Member #81 of the Genius Society.

An expert in the biological sciences. She earned Nous' attention with her talent and terrifying perseverance, and began her research on the origin of life in a secret corner of the universe. Because of that, she was invited by Herta to collaborate with Screwllum and Stephen to develop the Simulated Universe.

Secretly, she greatly enjoys traditional theater and desserts, and she is also very interested in embroidery.^[6]

Ruan Mei deploys a Zone that lasts for 2 turns. The Zone's duration decreases by 1 at the start of her turn.
While inside the Zone, all allies' All-Type RES PEN increases by 15%—27% and their attacks apply Thanatoplum Rebloom to the enemies hit.
When these enemies attempt to recover from Weakness Break, Thanatoplum Rebloom is triggered, extending the duration of their Weakness Break, delaying their action by an amount equal to 20% of Ruan Mei's Break Effect plus 10%, and dealing Break DMG equal to 30%—54% of Ruan Mei's Ice Break DMG.
Enemy targets cannot have Thanatoplum Rebloom re-applied to them until they recover from Weakness Break.

Thanatoplum Rebloom will immediately cause Weakness Break when the enemy attempts to recover while affected by the debuff, regardless of their weaknesses. This works similarly to the Frozen status effect in applying bleeds and using up the enemy's turn. If both of these are applied on one enemy, Frozen will take place first, then Thanatoplum Rebloom on the enemy's second action.
- Some specific scenarios may cause enemies to exit Weakness Break and perform an action even when affected by Thanatoplum, such as The Past, Present, and Eternal Show when using their Dance for Synchrony or "Harmonious Choir" The Great Septimus' Tempestoso on its Echo of Faded Dreams. In these cases, the Break DMG is applied after the attack ends.
Ruan Mei's first Eidolon, Neuronic Embroidery, causes ally units' attacks to ignore 20% of the enemy's DEF when the field is active.
Ruan Mei's sixth Eidolon, Sash Cascade, increases the field's duration to 3 turns, and increases the Break DMG multiplier by 200%.

After using the Technique, gains Silken Serenade. At the start of the next battle, automatically triggers the Skill for 1 time(s) without consuming Skill Points.
In Simulated Universe or Divergent Universe, when Ruan Mei has Silken Serenade, the team actively attacking enemies will always be regarded as attacking their Weakness to enter battle, and this attack can reduce all enemies' Toughness regardless of Weakness types. When breaking Weakness, triggers Weakness Break Effect corresponding to the attacker's Type. For every Blessing in possession (up to a max of 20 Blessings will be taken into account), additionally increases the Toughness Reduction of this attack by 100%. After breaking an enemy target's Weakness, additionally deals to the enemy target Break DMG equal to 100% of Ruan Mei's Ice Break DMG.

The automatically triggered version of String Sings Slow Swirls will generate Energy for Ruan Mei.
If Ruan Mei is inflicted with a Crowd Control debuff at the start of battle, she will not automatically trigger the Skill when the Crowd Control debuff is dispelled in her next turn. However, the first manual usage of her Skill will not consume a Skill Point.
This Technique's Break DMG is multiplied by the number of Blessings in possession (up to a max of 20 Blessings will be taken into account).
- In Simulated Universe: Unknowable Domain, every star of a Component counts as 1 Blessing in possession when calculating the Toughness Reduction increase and the Break DMG multiplier.
